Betty Pepper Betty Pepper makes her work from found materials; discarded books, old fabrics, forgotten papers. She breathes life and magic into these objects, creating fantastical and miniscule worlds populated with tiny animate houses and filled with their stories. In the artist's own words, her houses "...stand in their own little landscape telling their tale. Some are argumentative, some are sad, some are jubilant, many are simply lost. They all have a story to tell and they are hardly ever shy of talking back. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all living on the edge in some way as I think most of us do... Betty has exhibited her charming work in many galleries across the UK as well as internationally in Denmark, Munich, Italy and the Netherlands. All measurements length x height.

Bob Race Each Bob Race handmade pot has a modern, minimalist aesthetic. The artist focuses on texture, generally limiting his colour palette to powder white and deep or coppery rusts, with subtle blues and verdigris (though you may discover an unexpected speckeldy glaze if you look inside!) After leaving art school, Bob worked in the advertising industry for many years until, in a mid-life leap of faith, he returned to his first love, ceramics. Bob's work has featured in a number of discriminating private collections, such as that of Dali's biographer, Fleur Cowles Mayer. He is also well-known nationally for the workshops he runs for the NHS and various private organisations. All measurements diameter x height.

Catherine Macleod Catherine Macleod first used clay on her Art Foundation. She went on to study 3D design at Brighton Polytechnic, but left the course after the first year. Five years later she returned to a part-time ceramics course, realising that it truly was her calling. From there, Catherine went on to complete a degree in ceramics at Camberwell College of Art. It was during her time at Camberwell that Catherine began to focus on the figure in her work, inspired by her interest in human anatomy. Catherine's highly textural figures are hand-built out of crank clay and fired high to a stoneware temperature, with a sparkly lithium glaze over the surface. The sculptures vary in size, from small shelf sitters to larger standing figures. They have exaggerated proportions; playfully large feet (often with decorated soles) and elongated legs blend up into smaller torsos. This gives each a feeling both of elegance and of power. Catherine's work is often themed around the idea of journey; the large feet have a certain significance, as do the searchers who use their binoculars to look out into the world.

Ingrid Saag “Clear, vivid colours, are an integral feature of my work, they were probably instilled into my psyche during my childhood growing up in the tropics. Colour has a powerful therapeutic action, which can have a healing and re-balancing effect for both the artist and the viewer.” The human figure is a favourite subject of Ingrid Saag's, often used in the context of life experiences and interests, or with reference to writing. Some pieces are inscribed with poetry describing the passions, lusts, furies and joys inspired by human love. Landscapes and the natural world are also incorporated into some of her designs. Ingrid's vases and bowls are unique or editioned hand painted pieces. They are slip cast with white earthenware clay and often altered after removal from the mould, to produce highly individual ceramics.

Jane Muir Jane Muir's idiosyncratic hand-painted figures represent a witty and uncluttered observation of the world. Each charming character is hand modelled. Their recognisable and individual traits are perhaps due to the freedom of the artist's chosen medium; she uses clay, allowing her to develop her ideas during the making process. Subtle colour and seductive surface textures are key elements in her work; immensely appealing but never sentimental. Inspiration comes from various sources, from Peter Blake, Eduardo Paolozzi and Elizabeth Frink to more traditional craftwork such as that of the Staffordshire Potters. Jane studied at the Central School of Art and Design in London before receiving her Masters from the Royal College of Art in 1992. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the UK, Europe, America and Japan.

Matt Brown Matt Brown makes his innovative work from scrap metal and wood. He creates robots out of wheel nuts, oil lamps and vintage car parts. More recently, his work has focused on his love of the Suffolk coastline and its ramshackle fishermen's huts, houses and boats. Throughout his career, Matt has always championed the use of reclaimed and found materials, trawling though shed clearances and antique shops to find the perfect accompaniment for each sculpture. It is these age and weather-ravaged objects that particularly hold his interest. Matt graduated from Brighton College of Art & Design in 1992 with a BA(Hons) in Illustration. In his final year he specialised in three-dimensional illustration and animation, leading to a career in special effects, commercial model-making and bespoke carpentry. He now lives and works in Suffolk.

Penkridge Ceramics Lorraine Taylor and Nicky Smart's still life studies in clay form a unique body of work which is now regarded as the best in its field. Their influence lies in tromp l'oeil and early still life painting of fruits. All the work that goes into making each piece, the designing, modelling and mould making, glazing and hand finishing is carried out at their studio in Walsall, near Birmingham. The only aspect of the work not done in the studio is their range of metal leaves and twigs, designed and produced by Sculptor Alan Ballantyne. Each piece in the range is individually considered, with several layers of glaze added to create both colour and texture giving a‘super real’effect, which provokes first surprise and immense interest in the accuracy of the finish. Their pieces have been collected by a number of private individuals, galleries and interior designers in the UK and abroad.

Sophie Alice Wiltshire Sophie's ceramic animals are entirely hand modelled and painted from scratch, each taking on a life of its own. She sources her inspiration from 1950s children's book illustrations of the natural world, and aims to reflect in her work her own excitement and interest in it. Animals created range from pandas to pangolins, with the extinct dodo thrown in for good measure! Sophie completed her BA at Bath Spa University, and now works on her ceramics from her studio in Winchester, having finished a Ceramics MA at the RCA. She has a keen interest in mid-20th century illustration, history, and the natural world. Sophie is also a member of the London Print Studio, and works there regularly on her screen prints and dry point etchings.

Vicky Yates Vicky came upon ceramic sculpture rather late in life, having had a totally unrelated professional background in the NHS. During her training, she attended courses run by outstanding professional sculptors such as Brendan Hesmondhalgh, Annie Peaker, Lorri Aucott, Beth Cavener Sticher and Paul Priest. Vicky is fascinated by hares and many other wild animals she has seen both in the Cumbrian countryside and on safaris whilst working in Tanzania. The artist usually works in stoneware so the sculptures can be safely left outside. She decorates her work with oxides and underglazes and occasionally gold leaf.
