Own Art Exhibition 8th February - 10th March

What is Own Art? Own Art is an Arts Council funded financing system, giving buyers access to a 0% interest payment plan, spread over 10 or 20 months

How does it work? After paying the gallery a 10% deposit of the price of the artwork, a credit check is performed, and after signing the agreement, you can take the piece home, that very same day

Isn’t Art expensive? Own Art helps spread out the cost of a piece of artwork, extending your budget, and breaking the cost down into manageable chunks

Can you give an example? If you’re buying a sculpture for £1,000: The gallery takes a deposit of £100, then you can turn the remaining £900 into 10 monthly payments of £90. And you can take the work home straight away!

Carol Peace

Founder of the Bristol Drawing School, Carol Peace is a figurative sculptor who could not work without drawing. Throughout her process of creating, she makes detailed life drawings before modelling her self-reflective figures in clay. With their delicately balanced forms and rock like plinths Carol’s figures invite the viewer to mediate on the human condition, the step from adolescence to adult hood or the vulnerability of a mother and child. The sculptures are made in clay, which, like charcoal, is quick to make marks with. Once finished it is cast into bronze and resins, those fluid (sketch-like) marks of the making are then fixed forever.

Antoine Josse

“I imagine my paintings and sculptures as the moments of a story…it’s up to you to create the whole story. There are several different scenarios, and that’s what I appreciate: the diversity of your looks. You are an actor of this exhibition: Look! Imagine! Speak! Exchange your opinions! A work exists only by the spectator’s gaze, my paintings exist only thanks to your imagination.” Antoine Josse’s paintings are known for their atmosphere, evocative colour and tumultuous skies. His paintings and sculptures express an irrepressible desire for lightness, escapism, and the ability to dream the impossible.
