AL G HOUS WATE RFRONT EIA & MITIGATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Ayesa were appointed by CLE Millet to provide an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Al Ghous Waterfront Project on behalf of the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibition Authority. Ayesa undertook a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) which assessed the impacts of the proposed project and entertainment facilities on the local environment in terms of Air Quality, Noise, Marine Ecological Interests, Water and Sediment Quality, Waste Management, Soils & Groundwater, Traffic & Access, Socio-economics, and Landscape & Visual amenity as well as the cumulative impacts thereof. Where appropriate, mitigation measures were provided to minimise the potential impacts of the project during construction as well as operation of the development. Ayesa has developed a set of in-house algorithms which are used alongside professional judgement to provide a unique yet reliable method of judging environmental effect across a multi-variate data set. This algorithm is based on IFC standards and internationally recognised environmental risk assessments.

Sustainability We work closely with clients to address challenges, understand expectations and realise their goals sustainably. In doing so, we deliver lasting value, in the form of improved investor confidence, lower carbon footprints, better use of resources, stakeholder satisfaction and planning and regulatory approvals. The motivation for sustainability varies across projects and companies. For some, it provides mandatory documentation for authorities, and for others, it creates a more sustainable product than their competitors. Sustainability issues also vary from territory to territory; depending on the scarcity of resources, the importance of considering climate change impacts, and the levels of urbanisation and regulation. Our environmental team has broad skill sets and deep sectoral insight that help clients make real changes to pivot their business sustainably to meet the future.

BLANCHARDSTOWN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHEME We support construction, maintenance and operations work for major utilities such as Irish Water. The Blanchardstown Regional Development Scheme, (€85m) is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Ireland. We conducted the Environmental Impact Assessment for the project, as well as catchment surveys and modelling. Cross-functional collaboration on projects with engineers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors can help produce the best outcomes. During construction of this scheme, our geotechnical teams recommended tunnelling methods with minimal habitat loss and disturbance to the surrounding area adjacent to a public park and river. 21

Climate resilience The effects of climate change can be observed worldwide with frequent abnormally high or low temperatures, extreme rainfall events, violent storms, sea-level rises, coastal surge and hazardous forest fires. Climate change is making a significant impact on our resources – water, energy and infrastructure. Our multi-disciplinary environmental and engineering team can advise on policy and outline measures to mitigate climate impacts. Our experts work with you to deliver increased awareness of risks and vulnerabilities, create risk management plans, identify new opportunities, embed climate resilience in culture, decisionmaking, operations and planning. We also assess existing assets and infrastructure to ensure they are robust and resilient. Our teams are an integral part of flood relief schemes throughout Ireland and the UK, helping communities mitigate the negative impacts of flood events. We have helped ‘future proof’ coastal defence schemes by applying numerical modelling, which guides the design phase to ensure resiliency in the face of sea-level rise and frequent storm events. We strive to use our expertise to help build resilient communities, cities and infrastructure and help clients form policy to protect and enhance fragile ecosystems, the environment, businesses and people.
