ORTHODONTIST GRAF ORTHODONTICS
WHAT AGE SHOULD I BRING MY CHILD?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends having an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Although this may seem too young for braces, it allows for early detection of crossbites and jaw growth issues that may require early treatment.
WHAT IF THEY HAVEN’T LOST ALL THEIR BABY TEETH?
That’s okay! As orthodontists, we are looking at both tooth and jaw relationships. At age 7, most children will still have quite a few baby teeth present. If an early set of braces is needed, we may attach braces to baby teeth to facilitate treatment. Additionally, the x-rays that we take at these appointments will help us to monitor how the permanent teeth are coming in and jaw positions. The best part of early visits is that if there is not a tooth or jaw problem, we will continue to observe your child every year and estimate how close to beginning braces they are! -Dr.

HOW DO I KNOW IF BRACES OR CLEAR ALIGNERS ARE BEST FOR MY TREATMENT?
Most cases can be treated with either braces or clear aligners, but one of our amazing doctors will discuss with you at your first visit which would be best for your teeth! Clear aligners are a great option for most people because you can take them out to eat, brush, and take photos! However, if the aligners are removed for too long during the day, the teeth will not straighten! For the quickest, best results, these aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day. Come in for a complimentary consultation to see if clear aligners or braces are best for you! -
