PLANT LIFE DRAWING 1 with Virginia Reid Plant Life Drawing 1 will focus on drawing natural forms from life in a variety of mediums, inspired by the botanical work of several famous artists. The morning session will focus on drawing and the afternoon session will involve experimenting with mixed media, including cut and paste collage, mono-printing and constructing compositions for painting. This course is for anyone inspired by the natural world of plants and flowers. ART OF JUXTAPOSITION 1 with Virginia Reid Collage is easy and relies only on a willingness to play with possibilities. Looking at the work of various artists known for their use of collage and gaining inspiration to construct new images for ourselves, no prior experience is necessary. You will be supported to develop the ideas that come from this practice and build a small body of work. A range of printed material will be available but please collect and bring to class any materials you would particularly like to work with. DREAMING IN COLOUR 2 with Virginia Reid Are you interested in exploring painting in a style between realism and abstraction? Drawing inspiration from a range of expressionist painters who were more concerned with their emotional responses than an objective reality, this class will help you draw and paint expressively with your own painting signature. This class continues to develop the practices of Dreaming in Colour 1 and is best suited to those who have some art experience. BREATHING THE LAND 2 with Virginia Reid Breathing the Land 2 is an invitation to begin or to continue an experiential research project focusing on deepening our relationship to the landscape we inhabit. We will incorporate a range of modalities including meditation, walking, observation, drawing, painting and assemblage and make use of materials from the landscape to respond to country, drawing with local ochres, dying paper with local botanicals.
