INTRODUCTION TO FLORISTRY with Leena Martens Interested in learning more about floristry? This 5-week introduction course will step you through the process of creating a variety of floristry designs. You will gain hands on experience with practical lessons in flower arranging, hand tied bouquets, wiring fresh blooms, gift wrapping and bow construction. You will learn how to prepare and care for flowers, storage and conditioning requirements, botanical names, suitable designs for special occasions and more. Each week you will learn a new design, which once completed, is yours to take home. FLORISTRY INTERMEDIATE with Leena Martens

NEW This course is an extension of Introduction to Floristry. You will gain insight into how a floral arrangement can be costed, gaining knowledge in the retail value of floral designs. You will learn how to prepare and care for fresh flowers and materials used in each class along with basic information on plant materials. Each week offers the opportunity to learn and create a different floral design ranging from professionally wired flower crowns to stunning modern bouquets and unique statement arrangements, all of which are yours to take home and enjoy for the remainder of the week. This course is suitable for students who have completed our Introduction to Floristry course or those who have some very basic floral experience. This workshop is suitable for beginners, or the more experienced artist who wishes to explore the medium further. All processes of screen-printing will be covered, including the art of photoemulsion application, stripping your screen, and printing with solvent-free inks onto your choice of substrates: from t-shirts and textiles to paper and plywood. The weekend will give you plenty of time to get your design photographically exposed onto your screen, and start printing. Additional materials $50. CROCHET FOR BEGINNERS with Stefanie Kwiatkista Learn how to use basic crochet stitches and different textured yarns to create a beautiful scarf and another simple garment of your choice to take home. SILVERSMITHING INTRODUCTION with Wendy Springfield In this course you will complete three or more pieces of jewellery. NATURAL DYEING AND SHIBORI with Anne Leon This two day introductory workshop will give you the chance to discover the magic of extracting colour and imprints from plants, using leaves, flowers, and roots onto fabric. During the course you will be shown several SHIBORI techniques, which is the Japanese word for tie-dyeing, by using stitching, clamping, folding, twisting, and compressing to create intricate patterns.
