Byron Gorres

Born and raised on a farm. Graduated from Amery High School in 1954. Married in 1958 while attending college and working at 3M Company as a Technician. Started at 3M as a Technician in September of 1956 for $1.12 per hour. Obtained my undergraduate degree in Chemistry-Math from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls in 1960. PhD in Physical Chemistry from Princeton University in 1964. At 3M, was a scientist in Central Research, had experience in x-ray analytical techniques, computer automation of analytical techniques, Traffic R&D, automated circulation control for libraries, and managed diskette R&D. Meeting with Steve Jobs in 1983 before MacIntosh was introduced. After 33 years at 3M Company in R&D, retired and have published two e-books. The first in 2012 was a novel entitled "Tomcats" and then in 2015 published my autobiography entitled "The Hunt For Competence". These are available on my website.
