From Parisian balconies to bloody battlefields, tongue–tied Christian borrows Cyrano’s words to woo beautiful Roxane—but is she falling for Christian’s looks or Cyrano’s soul? You, your kids, and a cast of lively actors will answer this question through a lightning–paced story of duels, love, sacrifice—and an enormous schnoz.

You’ll laugh out loud when this comic masterpiece untangles the double lives of two well-to-do society-gentlemen, both of whom have assumed the same alias in order to escape the doldrums of everyday life. Mistaken identities, a mysterious friend named Bunbury, and a misplaced handbag lead to unexpected turns (and happy endings!) in Oscar Wilde’s time-honored tour de force of cleverness and charm. For the viewing pleasure of our audiences, BYU Theatre is thrilled to present both The Importance of Being Earnest and Travesties simultaneously. *This production is included in the BYU Theatre Season Package. What happens when the communist Lenin, the dadaist Tristan Tzara, and the author James Joyce meet in a library?
