Zakir Hussain Trio Zakir Hussain is regarded as an international musical phenomenon. His consistently brilliant and exciting performances have not only established him as a national treasure in his home country of India but have also gained him worldwide fame and collaborations with artists as diverse as George Harrison, YoYo Ma, and the Kodo Drummers. Because his percussive playing is marked by uncanny intuition and masterful improvisational dexterity, Hussain is widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement. This performance will feature Hussain on the tabla and collaborators Jayanthi Kumaresh on veena and R. The creation of husband-and-wife team Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone, Air Play merges their circus and street theater performance art with the sculptural artistry of Daniel Wurtzel. The BYU Final Cut Film Festival is a student-produced, studentcreated film festival. Over a period of several evenings, we screen a collection of the best fiction films, documentaries, commercials, and animations that students create here at BYU. Final Cut is sponsored by the BYU Theatre and Media Arts department and the Student Film Association. The purpose of this festival is to encourage students to create and watch meaningful and creative media. Nathan Pacheco

Nathan Pacheco is a classically trained tenor who has a passion for reaching out and uplifting people through music. He has been featured globally in live performances, including touring the United States, Canada, and Mexico with Yanni; performing with Latin singing sensation Olga Tañon; touring England, Scotland, and Wales with Katherine Jenkins and the National Symphony Orchestra; performing for Prince Charles in conjunction with the British Forces Foundation and the USO; and performing with orchestras and symphonies around the US. – Thursday, October 7 11:00 a.m. Madsen Recital Hall Free

BYU Noteworthy

Noteworthy is one of BYU's top a cappella ensembles, comprised of nine powerhouse female vocalists. With a varied repertoire— including pop, rock, jazz, hip-hop, and spiritual music—Noteworthy has something for everyone. In 2007, Noteworthy was named the winner of the International Championship of College A Cappella (ICCA), becoming only the second all-female ensemble to win the competition in its 23-year history. Noteworthy has since appeared on NBC’s hit show The Sing-Off, released seven albums, and become a YouTube sensation.
