Architecture Foundations SAMUEL ZIMMERMAN -- ARCH 109 -- SPRING 2018
This project focused on the way we see an architectural space. The goal of the project was to take a plan and a photo and align them with both a drawing and a 3D model. This project helped me learn how to bring three very different modes of showing a design together into one single product.

VIewfinder
For this adventure we focused on how a person uses a space. What kind of action is taken to accomplish a goal? Everyone moves, how do I move? For this project we took our movement and transferred it into drawings. After the drawings were finished we created an abstract model to illustrate our motion.

motion
We created thresholds, anticipation, and destination in order to study how one experiences and walks through space. We were tasked with using diagrams and small parti models to imagine a space before then using a kit of parts to create a larger, final space. This is the first taste we had of coming up with a design and then bringing it to reality.
Spacial Journey 3
In this project we were tasked with creating a space for virtuoso music professors to come and teach classes. There needed to be practice rooms that doubled as offices along with a performance space and an outdoor space. This project was accompanied with drawings and a site diagram. This was the first time we were tasked with creating a building and pulling together everything that we had perviously learned.

Studio had its ups and downs but overall it was a very positive experience in which I learned many things. One of the things I learned was to always over estimate how long projects will take and to plan for the worst. Plan ahead and work hard because you will never be able to anticipate what might happen. I improved my drawing skills along with my model making ability. I learned a lot about how one experiences a space and then at the end when we put everything together to design a building for music I felt prepared. Working with Celine on the final project was lots of fun and helped me to improve my skills when it comes to working with a partner and managing my time. I took advantage of frequent review sessions to improve my work and learn as much as I could from the criticism I got. This semester in studio was a blast and I will forever have a special place in my heart for this semester.
