The First Time We Met Just like anyone else, I really wanted to meet this sexy, soft spoken, crazy person who is interested in a relationship with a total stranger, besides, I could be a rapist, murderer or some bad influential guy but that didn’t seemed much of a problem. I lived in Kingston and I got ready and went off to St. Thomas. The only place I knew was Morant-bay. On my way to where she was, I found out that when I reached Morant-bay, I took the wrong bus, so I got off, headed back to Morant-bay, and took another bus that took almost one hour to reach where I was going. All that time, I was wondering where in the world I was going to end up, because all I was seeing was buses and darkness, people in the people in the bus chatting, loud music playing, bus driver drinking and smoking, an old woman beside held on tight to her bag and she had an fish-scent. When I reached my destination at 9:34p.m., I got off at the community centre as was directed by her. As I reached in my pocket, I heard a girl that was in the back of the bus said; “Indian, yuh new bout yah? Mi like yuh hair” The bus driver said; “yuh blind, yuh eva si Indian man up yah yet, him even seh tanks wen him kum out a di bus, unlike unuh! Ok, so the first visit went well without sex, however, I saw many things that I did not like. She was on her phone most of the night talking and at some point; it seemed as if she was whispering with her back turned to my face. As close as I was to her on the bed, I could not hear what she was saying. That person called her over nine times within the hour, sometimes she answered with a “yeah, no, maybe, “and then she giggled. So now, if you were in this situation, what would you be thinking? Could she be flirting? Could she be talking to an ex, or an existing boyfriend? That night, just a few minutes before 1:00a.m., I turned to her and asked; why is it so important to be discussing rainbow colors with whomever at this time? She said, it is not that important but he needed my opinion on something concerning the community youth club. I really got upset because I thought it was rude and disrespectful for me to be there and be talking to that person even at this point of you reading this story. We had a long argument through the middle of the night, with lots mosquitos biting and singing, the heat was high, so I kept removing the sheet. However, we fell asleep and that was it for the night.

The Second Time We Met After all the drama of the first visit, we agreed to meet again at the house, which was about two weeks after. This time I was excited about seeing her. Believe it or it or not, that same madness of phone calls and messages started again. The only difference is that, this time, I went through her phone, of course, I knew that going through her phone was an invasion of privacy, but I believed that she was hiding something. Through that process, I noticed that this particular number keeps appearing, (phone calls, text messages and Facebook messages). The time of messages and calls were very close, something like 1:00a.m, 2:00a.m, 2:30a.m, 4:15a.m and about a minute or two apart of responding. When she came back in the room, she noticed that I found the person’s picture and set it as wallpaper for the phone; she then turned to me and asked, what is this? I was like, are you blind? I started demanding an explanation; she started like cat been chased by a dog. I took that opportunity to explain that, wen ever you ave an ex-, let it remain that way, if you continue to accept call, texts, messages, etc, it will or may give that person the impression that they can get a second chance. For example, in his case, he is probably saying, I know this girl still has a thing for me, because we still talk, she still responds, she laughs with me, she calls me in the middle of the night and If I want to see her, then it is not a problem. During that time, the same guy kept calling and she kept ignoring the call, I said to her, it doesn’t make any sense you start ignoring him all of a sudden, because when I left, you will be talking to him anyways. It reached a point that morning that I started raising my voice at her, so in order to avoid that, packed my bag and left. While on my way to the bus stop, I kept thinking that I should not have left, it was just a feeling that came over me all of a sudden. I sat at the bus stop for about thirty minutes, and then went back to her house. When I reached there, she was standing on her veranda, so she took my back and we went inside and I sat on the edge of the bed then opened my shirt because I was hot. She then made effort to remove it, and I shoved her away, so she lay on the bed on her back with her legs up on the wall while explaining the situation. After about an hour, I laid back on the bed and she came close and hugged, eventually she stopped explaining although I thought that she was lying, so we cuddled and fell asleep. Later that day we cooked dinner, took a walk and got back home, we started talking on random topics, some were stupid, funny and boring, but we did not care much. At that moment, I felt that we were opening up to each other and been there for each other, we were learning about likes

Someone came calling and knocking This was the night that I lost my mind, I was trembling like tree leaves, I was cold and sweating, my heart was pounding so heavily that I could hear it as though I had my ears on someone’s upper body , my mind was so shattered that I started freaking out. Her ex-boyfriend started calling at about 10:30p.m, and she refused to answer, she set the phone to silent and said that he will stop calling, Of course, I did not accept that, I noticed that she seemed a little worried because as I cuddled with her, I felt her body temperature rising and her heart was pounding heavier. Well, the phone calls stopped and we were relieved, she was laughing and making jokes, we got caught up past relationship experiences until all of a sudden, we got a special visit from her ex-boyfriend who came with a friend to see her at about 12:15a.m. Once again, the phone calls started, she again refused to answer and he started calling, not getting any answer, he started knocking the door when his friend said; yow, come on my youth, shin uh deh home! He said; yuh mad man, di fucking gal indeh, and nuh gal cyaa dis mi dem way deh!, yow guh rowndeh suh guh pick out di winda. Mi naah lef yah suh, even if mi afi sidung til day light out. At that point, I kept whispering to her saying that she should call her aunt, but then she could not have moved to pick up the phone because it is a board house with lots of holes. Therefore, I held her very close so it appeared to be one person, she is very small in body and the sheet would cover us both. Upon picking the window that was right at our feet, the old man in the other room shouted at them and asked if they cannot go away. I doubt that the old man knew I was there, because he saw when I was leaving in the morning. After he shouted at the, her ex- went next door and called someone, he said; yow, yuh know weh kim live, the person said; check di front room. He came back and started calling and knocking again and then the rain came but it was heavy, however, in silence and fear, we laid there and trembled against each other’s body until we could not hear any more calling, or knocking, our phone calls, but we could hear footsteps around the room outside. At one point at around 2:00a.m I heard distant voices as though they were standing in the roadway that is about 12 feet from the room, and to make it worse, the street light was reflecting inside the room because the window was over the bed that is positioned to the road. Any ways, she was more relaxed than I were, because I was a stranger to that community and I do not have © Copyright Eng. The Night Her Boyfriend Came | True Life Story By: Conrad Guthrie

I wanted to shout for her aunt but she keeps stopping me and it appear as if the men were really going to break in, I couldn’t see them to know whether they have a weapon or not and eventually they left but we did not know when. Can you believe that we actually started laughing at what had happened? Yes, we found it very funny because we were both scared and started freaking out
