DBI is a multi-disciplinary company in which the skill sets of all disciplines collaborate to deliver a coherent and holistic design solution.
DBI (then Media Five) was incorporated in Australia in 1980. The core expertise of the firm was drawn from specialist hotel and resort firms based in California and Hawaii. DBI quickly established a reputation for innovative design of large scale resorts and mixed use master plans, hotels and multi-unit residential projects. Early landmark projects include the Mirage Resorts in Port Douglas, Gold Coast and Princeville Hawaii. In addition to its impressive track record for the design of hotels, resorts and urban master planning, DBI is now a leader in Tall (+100m) and Super Tall (+300m) building design and construction and is a recognised leader in sustainable high rise technology. DBI’s collaborative and rigorous approach ensures the best possible outcomes for the client, community and environment. All of our projects seek to place the human being at the centre of the built environment and deliver environmentally, culturally, socially and economically sustainable outcomes for our future. Company Structure DBI is structured around the input of active directors, each intimately involved with the particular requirements of the project and its clients.

The design will aim to provide a sense of sanctuary with relaxed leisure and lifestyle opportunities and reinforce the rural character of the area. A variety of external spaces will be provided to cater for user requirements from intimate private retreats to larger scale common areas to gather, dine or recreate in. A series of paddocks and facilities for the equestrian operations have been carefully positioned to complete setting and help reinforce its intrinsic rural character. The design detailing and material selections will have a sophisticated yet understated elegance which will take references from the setting to establish a contemporary yet relaxed architectural aesthetic.

ETIHAD TOWERS ABU DHABI, UAE
Project Description Luxury mixed-use development. > > >
Jumeirah Hotel & Serviced Apartment Tower 3 Residential Towers 1 Office Tower & Retail Mall
Etihad Towers is a major mixed-use development on a waterfront site in Abu Dhabi, consisting of a 400 room Jumeirah 5 star hotel, 200 serviced apartments, 883 residential apartments, 63 level office tower and retail development and a convention centre which is the largest in Abu Dhabi. Etihad Towers synthesizes Arabic emblems such as Arabic swords, falcon’s talons, sails and desert flowers into a cohesive and visually coherent composition that is emblematic of the nation and its culture. As average day time temperature exceeds thermal comfort levels, the building employs an advanced 3 layer facade system that incorporates low E heat rejecting glass, reflective coatings, argon glass filled cavity and anti-glare glass on the interior. DBI developed the system to provide high insulation valves combined with low infrared heat gain while providing floor to ceiling unobstructed views to the beautiful waterways of Abu Dhabi and the Arabian Gulf.
