espite rumors to the contrary, the game of golf is alive and well. And the real estate surrounding golf courses still commands a premium, whether or not the owners play the game. If you think the only people that live in golf communities are hard-core golfers, think again. Greg Slater, REALTOR® with Nest Realty Group, guesses only one fourth of the residents of Old Trail Village play golf. That might seem low, but if you’ve lived in a golf course community you understand there are more attractions than just the game. Among them are premium real estate values, privacy, beauty, the club lifestyle, and the potential entertainment of watching the game play out just beyond your back yard.

A Beautiful Landscape Imagine sitting on your back deck, overlooking the green on the 12th hole. Azaleas are in full bloom and you watch the players strike from the tees on this par three. Central Virginia golf communities offer gorgeous views of the course, lakes, or mountains. Living near environmentally sensitive and preserved landscapes allows residents to enjoy nature. The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program recognizes courses that achieve high environmental quality and preserve natural heritage. Keswick Club’s Full Cry and Birdwood both received this prestigious certification.
Not Just Golf Amenity rich golf course communities attract golfers and non-golfers alike. Onsite restaurants are a great place to socialize with family, neighbors, and guests. This unique golf and equestrian community offers a wide selection of real estate, from cottages to large and luxurious homes.” Wintergreen, which Conde Nast Traveler magazine selected as one of the top 50 golf resorts in the world, offers another unique setting. But here you can because of our 3,000-foot elevation change.
