DISGUISE THE LIMIT Limits are nothing more than lines drawn in the sand, begging to be erased. Sometimes they vanish slowly by the methodic creep of a rising tide. Sometimes they are wiped clean by a crashing wave. One thing is certain; yesterday’s limits provide a target for today, and nostalgia for tomorrow. Here at Cabrinha we have our eyes fixed on that blurry line we often call limits. We are never satisfied with the status quo and we are more than happy to push the boundaries to widen your playing field. For us, the sky’s the limit both figuratively and literally. This year we moved lines and pushed the limits in all of our product categories. With the all-new FX freestyle / crossover kite we have developed a kite with a knack for huge air, but with the finesse and capability for technical unhooked freestyle tricks. We have created the ultimate stealth getaway vehicle... a hydrofoil board called the Double Agent. The Double Agent has virtually lifted the barrier to having a laugh-itup good time in sub 10 knots of wind. In hydrofoil mode the Double Agent is a silent wing that cuts through the water and leaves no trace. In its surf-skate mode its is a fun slashy wave killer. To lighten things up we’ve introduced an all new TrimLite Cleat™ trim method that provides a light weight solution to precisely trim your kite. The TrimLite Cleat™ can be found on our all-new Quickloop 1X control system, our Quickloop 1X Overdrive system and our dedicated Chaos 1X control system. With high performance quality gear designed for every style of riding there are now, no limits to your kitesurfing possibilities.

The layout starts in segmented sections in the design software, but, in-flight its natural shape is a smooth arc. In order to make the transition between segmented and curved, we doubled the aerodynamic control by cutting each canopy panel in half at the center section, providing the ultimate curvature control which is where 90% of the performance comes from. When a kite is clean and smooth it will be faster through the sky giving you a broader range of performance.

The Sprint Inflation System with Airlock is the most efficient and easy way to get your kite pumped up. The large one-way Airlock valve quickly feeds air into all of the struts from a single location. The Airlock connection to the Sprint pump now requires no special adapters. Once inflated, you can lock off each strut independently to keep your kite’s rigid frame, and isolate any accidental strut deflation from the rest of the kite. When the session is over, the entire kite will deflate in seconds thanks to the Airlock valve’s large dump feature.

WING TIP SETTING OPTIONS We offer multiple tuning options this season which completely change the way a kite flies. These options allow you to customize the feedback and bar pressure, adjust where the kite sits in the window, and balance the power/ de-power range of the kite.

Cabrinha’s exclusive line of high-quality woven fabrics has been designed specifically for kitesurfing. Unlike many of the generic sailcloths available in today’s kites, the Volae materials have been specially developed to our exact specifications. The development process has taken over 5 years to create this dedicated kite material, which delivers the lowest stretch and highest durability on the market.

A dynamic arc allows the kite to have two distinct arc shapes. The kite takes on one shape while flying, and another shape while in resting mode on the water.

The flying shape occurs as soon as the kite gets airborne and the front lines are under tension. The flying shape is the kite’s intended shape which is optimized for the intended usage. The arc shape is held in place by a simple set of bridling.

While surfing it’s sometimes important to depower the kite to the point where you can surf on your own wave generated power without the pull of the kite. It’s here that the Drifter is able to stay aloft and drift downwind with you. When the time calls for it, you can immediately power up the kite and make the next section.

The dynamic arc shape occurs when the kite is not in flight, such as when the kite is resting on the water in relaunch mode. The dynamic arc allows the kite to open its span and orient the wingtips in a position to facilitate a super quick relaunch.

All Cabrinha kites are designed and built on a Skeletal Frame foundation. We start by placing the most durable, 160 gsm Dacron material into a framework that locks in the intended shape. We then create the canopy shape and profiles with a light weight yet highly durable 53 gsm polyester woven material.

Power Control settings quickly adjust the power level of the kite. Each rear line “pig tail” connector has three power positions which you can connect to. The middle position is the factory recommended position. Create more power by connecting the knot closest to the kite or less power by connecting to the knot closest to the rider.

We build on the durability of the canopy material with a second layer of 53 gsm two-ply material over the high stress strut sections. Next, we layer into the perimeter a 75 gsm, double ripstop reinforcement material to combat the extreme loads that are placed on the trailing edge and wing tip areas of the kite. Finally, we complete the kite with details such as molded EVA chafe protectors, robust leading edge protectors, and triple row stitching at the high stress inter-segment seams near the center of the kite. We seal it all up with a woven nylon ribbon reinforcement on the leading edge closing seam. 13

The protective PU tube allows us to run the depower mainline and the 1X landing line through the center of the bar without the risk of abrasion or tangling.

We have lowered the front line connection to the CAS in order to provide a more direct and immediate response from your bar input.

QuickLoopTM is an opening harness loop connection designed to work specifically with our 1X single line flagging system. Its defining feature is its ridiculously simple operation. When you activate the 1X’s single line flagging system, the power of your kite is immediately killed and will rest motionless on the water or land. The main QR is a push away release with a catch that holds the QR in the released position until you are ready to reconnect. To reconnect, simply push the open end of the loop into place, and the latch will automatically engage the loop. Dropping the QR body back down secures the loop back into place.

Ensures a tangle free leash during rotations. Swiveling connection also helps to avoid flagging line twists.

TWIN TIP TECH FEATURES

ROCKERS Provides razor sharp responsiveness and stability for landings. designed to get you up and riding quickly and upwind fast. Found on the Xcaliber, Ace, and Spectrum.

We use a premium “A-grade” Paulownia wood core which is vertically laminated to optimize strength, reduce weight and allow the board to flex more naturally and freely. This premium cut has a higher number of continuous vertical strips free of finger joints for a smooth flex pattern. This allows each board to mirror the design for more consistency from board to board. Found in all 2016 models.

One of the most efficient ways to control tip, tail, and torsional flex is through the use of core profiling. With our Parabolic Rails we are able to precisely control the stiffness of our boards by using a raised and tapered rail shape. Having the thickness along the rail helps with torsional stiffness and enhances flex control while keeping the board weight to a minimum. This design approach provides the boards with a substantial increase in re-bound. Found on the Ace, Custom and Tronic.

The highest rocker line in our range for the ultimate performance. Found on the CBL. Helps initiate G-force turns when banking off waves or redirecting in the flats and smooths the ride in choppy conditions. Found on the Custom and Tronic.

Carbon Fiber has the best weight to stiffness ratio of all fibers. We use it to create a flex pattern with incredible response and explosive pop. Found exclusively on the XCALIBER.

Helps you plane quickly and makes tracking easy while providing excellent power control. Found on the XO and Atom.

Basalt is a natural volcanic fiber which offers vibration resistance and durability without compromising on reflex while still maintaining a high strength to weight ratio. It is naturally produced absent of toxic additives. The combination of wood core, with basalt laminate provides a flex characteristic which is unique to Cabrinha.

CONSTRUCTION

A single pour liquid urethane elastomer around the entire board is the ultimate impact resistance material while helping with rebound and vibration reduction.

Gets you up on a plane with the least amount of power possible. Found on the Stylus.

RE-FLEX

Re-flex is a more accurate term for what most riders describe as ‘pop’ in a board. Re-flex is the ability of a board to return to its shape quickly after it has been flexed. The faster the board returns to its original shape the more energy the board returns to the rider – helping them leave the water.

CONCAVE Concave helps provide more lift for a given width of board and tends to flatten the rocker on the centerline – both features aid lightwind planing. It also allows the board to sit flatter on the water for an edge angle that makes the board more comfortable to ride.

Our unique hex flow poly carbonate fins feature a hexagon dimpled pattern over the surface of the fin. The hex pattern helps to create a boundary layer which assists in the laminar flow over the fin, reducing drag. The new material is made from a lightweight and resilient bullet proof material.

FLEX

Flex allows the rocker of the board to change in response to different riding conditions. A board with the right amount of flex for your weight and riding style will allow you to plane early (with a flat rocker) and progressively hold more power (with an increased rocker) due to load transmitted from the kite to the board.

The H1 is a one strap, asymmetrical body shape which provides a positive fit for the rider looking for board control with ease of use. It is supportive yet lightweight and flexible and can be used for all types of twin tip riding from freestyle to freeriding.

The H2 steps up the connection equation with a two strap, wide body backless binding. The H2’s wider base and fuller coverage cradles the foot for more control and precision to create as much edge pressure as you need when busting huge freestyle tricks. SURFBOARDS We offer a range of surfboards to cover a much wider range of conditions. The most important changes have been made in the areas of width, volume and construction. Wider widths and higher volumes have been implemented in the areas most needed. Each board in the range is very different from the other which presents a completely different surfing or freestyle experience.

General Rules Length is the first place to start when choosing a board. A general rule for choosing a kite board is to ride a board which is approximately 2-3 inches smaller than your height. Width of a board helps determine the volume as well as how much curve the boardâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s outline will have. Wider boards generally have more curve (as well as more volume). Wider boards are lively under your feet, especially in lighter winds or smaller waves. Volume is an important factor when choosing a board. Volume is made up of a combination of length, width, and the boardâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s thickness. Volume is an important element, especially in lighter winds and smaller waves. However, when the wind is strong and the waves are bigger, too much volume will work against you.

Rider Profile: The Phenom is ideal for riders who are looking for a high performance surfboard with volume and trick riding capability.

Rider Profile: The Proto is made for the surfer who needs a board that will excel in side shore, down the line surf.

The Phenom takes a step towards the performance end of the surf chain while keeping its easy to ride characteristics. The Phenom is our widest board with the highest volume. The combination of width and volume makes this board extremely versatile in the surf as well as the flat water freestyle arena. The Phenom is developed with our multi- Kitesurf World Champion, Keahi De Aboitiz. It has a 5 fin box configuration that allows the rider to choose just about any fin set up.

The Proto is our advanced surfboard model. The shape lends itself to stronger winds and side shore surf conditions. The Proto is capable of surfing larger waves than the Phenom or Secret Weapon. This 3 fin model is ideal for down the line, side shore surfing. Its narrower outline and straighter rail shape is perfect for pushing turns at higher speeds. Yet, the generous use of rocker makes the board loose and snappy off the top.

This season we bring you fin designs in two performance / construction options. 1. HEX CORE (RTM): Our high performance fin is made with a hex core and glass. This fin has a stiffer base and a moderately soft tip. The hex core fin provides excellent drive. 2. FIBER FILLED PLASTIC (GFN): Our fiber filled plastic fins offer a more affordable yet durable fin option. The fiber filled fins have a slightly softer flex throughout the entire fin which translates into a dampened ride, especially in choppy waters.
