Since my very first day of kitesurfing, it was clear to me that this hybrid piece of gear was going to be my new getaway vehicle. My escape pod. I couldn’t stop thinking about the places this thing would take us, the things it would allow us to do… the kind of freedom it would provide. 22 years later, kitesurfing has exceeded all of my expectations and it continues to break further away from its humble origins. While kitesurfing has had many influences that has shaped what its become, the sport is still completely free from any restraints that dictate where it’s going. Our all new High Tenacity Dacron is designed specifically for the sport of kitesurfing. It’s 150 X 250 Denier weave benefits all inflatable sections of the kite with an emphasis on its high tenacity warp orientation. The increased quantity of high tenacity warp yarns controls the inflated elongation along the length of the LE sections. Lower elongation in the leading edge and struts makes for a more accurate kite with less deformation while in flight.

The 2018 board range features a new split tip design, aggressive bottom shaping and strategic material layups. The Ace, XCal, Stylus and XO models have steep, angular concave bottom shapes. The Tronic now comes in two shapes, one as a directional surf stance board and the other a twin tip. The Double Agent also boasts a new shape and size.

Our all new Dacron is specifically designed for inflated kite structures. The construction of this material is very warp oriented using ultra high tenacity yarns with an increased thread count to combat elongation in the warp direction under high inflation pressures. Lower elongation makes for a more accurate kite with less deformation while in flight. The Dacron also has a very firm and stable resin finish for a longer lifespan and excellent bias recovery.

We offer multiple tuning options which completely change the way a kite flies. These options allow you to customize the feedback and bar pressure, adjust where the kite sits in the window, and balance the power/ de-power range of the kite. Cabrinha highly recommends testing the different settings for yourself to find out what feels the best to you.

The layout starts in segmented sections in the design software, but, in-flight its natural shape is a smooth arc. In order to make the transition between segmented and curved, we doubled the aerodynamic control by cutting each canopy panel in half at the center section, providing the ultimate curvature control which is where 90% of the performance comes from. When a kite is clean and smooth it is faster through the sky, giving you a broader range of performance.

SPRINT SYSTEM W/ AIRLOCK

The Sprint inflation systems is the most efficient and easy way to get your kite inflated and deflated quickly.. The enlarged Airlock valve quickly feeds air into all of the struts from a single location. The Airlock connection to the Sprint pump requires no special adapters. Once inflated, you can lock off each strut independently to keep your kite’s rigid frame, and isolate any accidental strut deflation from the rest of the kite. When the session is over, the entire kite will deflate in seconds thanks to the Airlock valve’s large dump feature.

SKELETAL FRAME Provides the structure that keeps the kite design true to its intended shape while in-flight. The stable frame drives the kite through turbulence with a minimal amount of deformation and has excellent overall de-power. The inflated leading edge introduces the laminar flow of air across the kite’s Pure Profile panels, for a quick recovery if stalled and prevents the kite folding on itself. The inflatable structure reduces the amount of bridling required for stability. It also provides safety by providing some flotation in the water, and enables easy re-launch.

VOLAE™ MATERIALS Our exclusive line of high-quality woven fabrics has been designed specifically for kitesurfing. The Volae materials are made with accuracy and consistency, and are guaranteed for every kite we make. Our 2DR Double Ripstop material is designed to provide a lightweight, yet durable, canopy with extremely low stretch properties. This translates into a kite with the ability to lock in its intended shape, while remaining ultra-reactive to rider input.

DYNAMIC ARC Dynamic arc allows the kite to have two distinct arc shapes. The arc of the kite takes on one shape while flying, and another shape while in resting mode on the water. While resting on the water the arc opens up slightly to facilitate an easier relaunch.

POWER CONTROL Every Cabrinha kite comes with a simple, user adjustable way to choose the power level of the kite. Each rear line “pig tail” connector has three power positions you can connect to. The middle position is the factory recommended position. However, the user can choose to create more power by connecting the knot closest to the kite, or less power by connecting to the knot closest to the rider.

PRO SPAN Improves the relationship between the actual canopy area and the “usable” canopy area. A majority of the kite’s surface area is working for you in a lifting capacity which also improves speed and upwind performance. The key element is not the flat canopy area and aspect ratio of the design, but the in-flight projected area and projected aspect ratio. Once it takes shape in-flight the power comes from the efficiency, and the efficiency comes from reducing the induced drag of the overall wing by having more usable area focused in the “projected” power producing section of the wing.

ASPECT RATIO A long, narrow wing generally has a high aspect ratio, whereas a short, stubby wing has a low aspect ratio. A high aspect ratio design makes the kite fly forward and point upwind incredibly well. The lower the aspect ratio design is more responsive and provides a consistent and stable pull.

QUICKLOOP TECHNOLOGY

Purpose built for kitesurfing, this unique design harnesses the specific forces and movements of kiteboarding. The non-binding system allows smooth, unrestricted movement no matter where the kite is located in the window and translates your body movements into immediate kite reaction. The spherical shape can connect from any angle, rotate in a circle and swivel on a horizontal axis. Once connected, you secure the ball in place using our easy to secure auto locking gate. With the Fireball system you will never be able to foul-hook.

QuickLoop™ is an opening harness loop connection designed to work specifically with our 1X single line flagging system. Its defining feature is its ridiculously simple operation. When you activate the 1X’s single line flagging system, the power of your kite is immediately killed and will rest motionless on the water or land. The main QR is a push away release with a catch that holds the QR in the released position until you are ready to reconnect. To reconnect, simply push the open end of the loop into place, and the latch will automatically engage the loop. Dropping the QR body back down secures the loop back into place.

Our premium adjustable control system can quickly change the length of your bar from 48cm to 56cm. The Overdrive mode increases the turning speed and performance of any kite, large or small. The Recoil trim adjusters keep your trim in the same position every time. Even after you’ve depowered your kite, Recoil will return the trim adjusters to the exact same position for easy operation. We use a premium “A-grade” Paulownia wood core which is vertically laminated to optimize strength, reduce weight and allow the board to flex more naturally and freely. Found in all 2018 models.

All of our twin tips have an overall rocker (bottom curve from tip to tip) of between 25mm and 50mm. Provides razor sharp responsiveness and stability for landings. Designed to get you up and riding quickly and upwind fast. Found on the Xcaliber Carbon and Xcaliber Wood.

VOLCANIC BASALT Basalt is a volcanic mineral fiber which offers vibration resistance and durability while maintaining a high strength to weight ratio. Washed pure molten basalt rock is absent of toxic additives. The combination of wood core with basalt laminate provides a flex characteristic, unique to Cabrinha.

The highest rocker line in our range for the ultimate performance. Found on the CBL and Tronic.

Gets you up on a plane with the least amount of power possible. Found on the Stylus.

Medium rocker boards find the perfect balance between high rocker high performance and flat light wind rockers making the boards great all around boards with lengthened turning radius. Found on the Ace Carbon, Ace Wood, XO and Spectrum.

Customized double 45 degree bias Carbon Fiber is a lightweight and durable laminate that maximizes performance by stiffening the flex pattern for increased response and explosive pop.

FLEX PARABOLIC RAILS

Flex allows the rocker of the board to change in response to different riding conditions.

Core profiling is the most efficient way to control tip, tail and torsional flex. Tapered raised rails control the torsional stiffness and enhances flex control while keeping the board weight to a minimum. Freeride boards benefit the most from the technology with a substantial increase in rebound.

ABS ABS is a tough hard wearing composite material which bonds very well to epoxy. This is used during the lay-up process ensuring a smooth, durable and consistent ride. All twin tip rails and insert blocks are made from ABS material.

GRIND BASE Compression formed for enhanced slide and durability on obstacles. Found exclusively on the CBL.

Womens Flex Pattern Is a softer flex pattern making the board easier to press and manhandle, and are a bit more forgiving. Found on the XO.

CONTOURED BOTTOM SHAPES

Re-flex is a more accurate term for what most riders describe as ‘pop’ in a board. Re-flex is the ability of a board to return to its shape quickly after it has been flexed. The faster the board returns to its original shape the more energy the board returns to the ride, ultimately helping them leave the water.

Different bottom contour shapes create different performance characteristics, giving each board its own personality and purpose. Concaves create lift and make the board sit higher on the water. Channels act like long fins. They allow the board to edge harder by providing more grip. You’ll see these more aggressive shapes in our wakestyle and crossover boards. A smooth, featureless board shape lets the width and fins do the job of providing lift, control, and low drag, which can be a benefit in the lighter winds.

Concave helps provide more lift for a given width of board and tends to flatten the rocker on the centerline – both features aid light wind planing. It also allows the board to sit flatter on the water for an edge angle that makes the board more comfortable to ride.

This category is the most traditional surf category. These boards are made to ride in side shore and side offshore conditions and are capable of surfing larger, faster moving waves. The narrower outlines and lower volumes are meant to provide you with powerful carving turns and speed. If you like to ride fast and hard these boards are for you.

CROSSOVER SURF

The shapes in the Crossover category are designed to perform in any type of surf and have the ability to throw a solid game of freestyle. The wider outlines create more curve in the rail, which makes the boards incredibly fun in any surf and even on flat water.

PARABOLIC RIDGE DESIGN 1) Creates a double concave deck which makes a positive platform for your feet when riding strapless. 2) Allows the deck to increase in thickness without making the rail thicker. 3) Increases the grip on the rail when performing strapless tricks.

The boards in the freestyle surf category lean toward the new era of strapless freestyle riding. But these boards are solid surf performers… especially in the less than perfect type of surf conditions. The wider outlines make these boards incredibly versatile for a wide variety of usage.

FIN TECH - SORIC®

GENERAL RULES Length is the first place to start when choosing a board. A general rule for choosing a kite board is to ride a board which is approximately 2-3 inches smaller than your height.

Rocker is the amount of the curve that runs from the tip to the tail. More rocker helps the board turn in a tighter arc. Less rocker straightens out the turns a bit, but makes the board faster. A proper board should have a rocker that strikes a balance between speed and control.

The width of a board helps determine the volume, as well as how much curve, the board’s outline will have. Wider boards generally have more curve (as well as more volume). Wider boards are lively under your feet, especially in lighter winds or smaller waves. Volume is an important factor when choosing a board. Volume is made up of a combination of length, width, and the board’s thickness. Volume is an important element, especially in lighter winds and smaller waves. However, when the wind is strong and the waves are bigger, too much volume will work against you. 57
