Cathedral of Brasília, Brazil: A Holy Journey Beautiful, serene and vivacious are the only description which can best suit to the Cathedral of Brasília. It is located in the capital of Federal Republic of Brazil-Brasilia, situated in desert area of continent. The Cathedral was designed by Oscar Niemeyer whose vision was to create a closely-packed and clean structure destined to provide the journey of human souls through religious wheel. The construction of Cathedral has started from 1959 and completed in 1970. It serves as seat for Archdiocese of Brasília.

The Cathedral of Brasília is designed as hyperboloid revolved structure contains 16 concrete asymmetrical columns weighs 90 tons. The height of Cathedral is 40 meters with the accommodation of four thousand people. As the circular shape of cathedral, it contains circular base measures 60 m in diameter. It creates a picture of hands pointing towards sky. Those 16 curved columns support the glass ceiling which starts from the floor. The floor is surrounded by a 12-meter wide and 40 centimeter deep reflecting pool to the cool the cathedral as well as a passage for visitors. Due to circular structure, façade was not needed. The centre space of cathedral extends up to the dimeter of 70 meters. Whole interior is glass studded. The entrance is adorned with four bronze statues of Evangelists measures 2.22 meters, 3.4 meters and 4.25 meters in increasing order. There is an underground passage connected to the offices of Brasília situated next to the Cathedral. This dark underground passage opens up in the space
