CADIN360.COM LEARNING TUTORIALS Let’s learn how to draw an ellipse by using the Ellipse command. In AutoCAD Ellipse command is used to draw an ellipse. Ellipse command creates an ellipse or an elliptical arc. The shape of an ellipse is determined by two axes that define its length and width. The longer axis is called the major axis, and the shorter one is the minor axis. The first two points of the ellipse determine the location and length of the first axis. The third point determines the distance between the center of the ellipse and the end point of the second axis. An ellipse can be created by using different methods. The options to draw an ellipse are grouped together in the Ellipse command drop-down in Draw panel under Home tab. You can create ellipse using several methods.

You can choose the appropriate option depending upon the parameters known and then draw the ellipse.

You can also activate Ellipse command by entering ELLIPSE or EL at the Command line. Another method to select the Ellipse command is also available. You can select the Ellipse command from Menu Bar > Draw > Ellipse > Center/Axis, End/Elliptical Arc. You can also find Ellipse command in Draw toolbar of the AutoCAD classic workspace.

6. Next, type 5 and then press Enter.
You can also use Spacebar in place of Enter key.
