Ooh la la! One of the chicest hotels in Paris is coming to Sloane Square @vardorestaurant
The Sunday Times said it is “destined to become a new Chelsea landmark: a singular building that looks like something a subterranean supervillain might live in, its greenery disguised head cone breaking through the concrete….It’s both futuristic and natural, and I kind of love it” and GQ picks out the ‘Baharat-rubbed lamb cutlets, green harissa and tahini’ as their standout dish in this month’s issue. It offers relaxed, all day dining – we hope that you’ve had a moment to try it. The roof terrace is for everyone’s enjoyment year round, so please do feel free to take a coffee or a book up there to enjoy the views overlooking Saatchi and King’s Road.

ENHANCEMENT
Work continues apace at 1 Sloane Gardens, at the 'Coste Townhouse', just opposite Sloane Square tube station, although exciting developments to further enhance the social spaces – the rooftop restaurant and glamorous destination bar – mean that the opening date is likely to be pushed to 2021.
Architects and heritage consultants have been appointed by John Lewis ‘to restore and reimagine’ the façade of this grand grade II department store – the first glass curtain walled building in the country. The plans will ensure it remains a striking feature on Sloane Square, to “recapture the excitement of Peter Jones as a destination: a characterful, multifaceted, social space and a catalyst for new experiences”. More information is anticipated in the summer.

For further information, contact Steve Medway, steven.medway @cadogan.co.uk We are working on an exciting new initiative, ‘Chelsea 2030’, which will identify environmental and community priorities for the neighbourhood over the next decade – from reducing carbon emissions and waste, to improved air quality and tackling issues such as social isolation. Please share your views with us on what you feel matters most, to ensure that we are helping to address the most pressing challenges for future generations. The questions should only take 5 minutes – just visit this website before 24 February: givemyview. com/chelsea2030
Cadogan is now principal supporter of this independent charity, the only one in the borough devoted to bringing individuals, families, businesses and schools together to benefit the local community. They spotlight a huge variety of local needs and raise funds to meet them, with 100% of money going directly to those who need it most. They would welcome any support – time or money! – to help stretch their work further and can help guide you to a cause that is nearest your heart and home. The Curzon will be returning to our new development at 196-222 King’s Road, which is currently under construction. The heritage façade is being restored, and the project will include flagship and community retail, the more accessible 600 seater cinema, a large pub, new homes, office space, an improved Waitrose and a rooftop bar – expected to complete in 2023. This major development is part of a drive to reinvigorate the King’s Road – led by Cadogan, working closely with other local stakeholders such as Martin’s Properties and Peter Jones. Although not a Cadogan project, we hear that Cineworld at 279 King’s Road, is also due to reopen in Spring 2020. “The planting draws the historic gardens out along the Street to create a more uplifting atmosphere and visually rich environment” Andy Sturgeon

Pavilion Road The new ‘independent, artisanal’ section of Pavilion Road is now complete – including a butcher, baker, cheesemonger, fishmonger and general store. An ‘edible trail’ will change seasonally and we encourage everyone to come along and forage. Further information on the shops and trail: pavilionroad.co.uk @pavilionroad
“We are fully behind projects that deliver on our aims to tackle climate change and improve the local environment” Cllr Elizabeth Campbell, Leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council Full information: sloanestreetfuture.co.uk
Significant public realm improvements to the Street have begun, in partnership with RBKC. They will be completed within 3 years. This follows extensive local consultation and traffic modelling, to ensure that there is no negative impact to vehicular flow along the Street – although traffic calming measures and increased crossing opportunities will be introduced to reduce high speeds – while the experience for pedestrians and residents is vastly improved. This includes ‘greening’ the Street with extensive new planting and additional trees from Chelsea Flower Show multi-Gold award-winner Andy Sturgeon and upgrading everything the eye touches with high quality materials, from the paving to the lighting. London Architects John McAslan + Partners, whose recent work includes the transformation of King’s Cross Station, have been appointed on the public realm masterplan.
