“WHEN MATERIAL, KNOWLEDGE AND ORIGINALITY COME TOGETHER.” Ask somebody today, what ‘luxury’ means for them – and the majority will speak about expensive cars, big houses, exquisite wines, wellness hotels or a yacht on the Mediteranean Sea. Luckily all of this – makes part of the ‘art de vivre’ of today, and colours the lives of many people ! However, real luxury goes beyond those bling-bling images on the covers of glossy magazines. Real luxury means : choice of quality materials, eye for detail, love for texture and respect for craftsmanship. Enjoying a spacious room or the light in a building, experiencing the smoothness of a tabletop, handmade out of solid-wood, feeling the softness of aniline leather covering the cushions in your sofa : this is also luxury but on a higher and more personal level. Nowadays – we also need to make sure that our houses and interiors are shelters for the beloved ones living there, assuring them a comfort-zone, far away from the hectic everyday-live out there. What is more pleasing than a well-made object, designed and made with that eye for detail and breathing quality ?! When material, knowledge and originality come together : that is the moment when luxury comes about. Discover in this issue of the G4 GAZETTE – in which way our manufacturers bring together all their skills and know-how – to create their luxury and to appeal to you !

BROKIS collection
BOHEMIAN GLASSBLOWING TRADITION Brokis is the brainchild of successful Czech entrepreneur and engineer Jan Rabell. In 2006, he founded the brand Brokis as a platform to enliven and elevate Bohemian glassmaking to new heights and preserve generations of knowledge and craftsmanship. Demand for traditional products had declined significantly, many of the glassmakers were growing old and leaving, and time-honoured technologies and techniques were at risk of being lost. Mr. Rabell’s vision was to restore the factory to its former prestige and ensure that the ages-old Bohemian glassmaking tradition endured into the 21st century.

MAXIMUM EXPRESSIVENESS
© Henge
Henge came about in 2007 from a big dream and from a small group of very determined people. Henge does not want to be any old company producing furnishings, likewise its commitment is to propose collections that know how to encapsulate history and interpret contemporary living, high-profile furnishing solutions that are the result of sophisticated choices : exclusive materials, precious finishes, skilled Italian hand crafting, refined design and attention to detail. Henge conceives and creates products in which design and the expressive force of natural materials become an organic whole, a combination of space and nature. Objects become much more than a piece of furniture : a presence that ages slowly, together with us, day after day, developing that unique patina that only time can create. The Henge world is incredibly rich in ideas and materials that define a personal mood : woods with deep colours and grain, stones as works of art, soft, smooth and supple fabrics and leather, metals burnished and aged by hand, along with sophisticated materials such as steel fabrics, ceramized and decorated Etna lava stone, swamp oak, Titanium stone. Working natural materials by hand, Henge knows that each piece is a unique work, and that each product will be different from the next.
No industry can replicate what Henge creates, because the company remains bound to production principles where nature, weather, climate and the seasons still play a vital role in the final result, and where the working process has an ancient history of tradition and excellence. We search the world for excellence in the selecting of our woods : exclusive materials such as swamp oak, a unique and original fossil wood unearthed after spending 400 years underground. The expressiveness of the wood is ensured by natural processing which does not alter the material : heat-treating and a polished oil finish. Every Henge piece is made exclusively by one of our craftsmen, from production to finishing: this guarantees that every product has its own maximum expressiveness, in keeping with the quality of the brand. The experience of the Henge craftsmen goes hand in hand with high-tech processes : manual welding and laser cutting. Man and machine working together in single unique recipe.
© Henge
The company works with the expressiveness of the material in all its purity : use the experience of man and his desire to experiment, following ambitious paths that go beyond the use of technology. Henge chooses materials individually : each piece of stone, each trunk is valued and treated with care, using an innovative approach that takes advantage of their flaws and imperfections.

ART WE LOVE TO SEE
WARNER BERCKMANS
“WE SEE NOTHING TRULY UNTIL WE UNDERSTAND IT” John Constable ( 1776 – 1837 )
No explanation needed, but experience how heaven and earth blend in an affecting and personal beat.
To capture the work of Warner Berckmans – there are 3 words to describe his art in the best way: light, clear and brilliant.
The visual language in many of Warners pieces – is pure and clean, deprived of all figuration. The serial character and applied techniques, reinforce the monochromatic blue. Severe repeat of similar forms or well balanced measurements in the right proportions, results in pure repetition.
CLEAR Warners work is characterized by transparency and lightness and puts the material which he is using on the background. The proces transcends the material and obtains more sense, much more sense. A transformation into a clear abstract visual language. One colour only : his colour blue as rival of the colour of water or the colour of the sky. Blue stands for purity, blue is clear and lucid. Heavenly blue, divine blue or endless blue. Lapis Lazuli : once one of the most expensive minerals; he who carries this stone receives more spiritual power. Even Yves Klein blue – related but unmistakable patented. This glass art breaths peace and inertia. As a natural proces, Warners work becomes one with it’s surroundings. A metamorphosis and symbiosis of space, colour, form, matter and content.
Next to his love for beauty and esthetics, Warner Berckmans also brings his focus on originality, impeccable finishing and eye for details. This transparency, harmony and proportion make of him an heir of the Modernists but also a great contemporary artist. BRILLIANT “LESS IS MORE” is the best way to summarize the work of Warner Berckmans – he controles, he masters, he persists. synopsis of an original Dutch text by Lut Maris De Mijlpaal / Heusden-Zolder.
Warner Berckmans, designs and creates, to interact with architecture or with the environment; sometimes for private commissioners but also interventions in public spaces. In his contemporary work – he always tries to intensify the relation with his spectators. “You can define my work as a search at large, of the imagination and visualization of relations, attitudes and proportions in space and time” dixit Warner.

With the exception of all hand-knotted carpets and kilims, which are made in Nepal, all other e15 products including furniture, lighting and accessories are produced at specialised workshops mainly in Germany as well as other selected European countries where material, high-quality workmanship and innovative manufacturing methods take precedence. Flawless quality is a prerequisite for every e15 product. For its solid wood furniture, e15 selects wood with its natural markings such as cracks, knotholes or colour variations intact, emphasising the beauty of the material. At e15, a crack in the wood or a knot is seen as an expression of authenticity and the natural uniqueness of the material and is emphasised with black wood filler. Promoting reforestation and an active sustainable forest management, only FSC certified European oak and walnut from sustainable forestry is used for e15’s solid wood furniture such as table BIGFOOT™ and stool BACKENZAHN™.

In addition to basing the collection on well-crafted, solid wood furniture, the collection is built upon with the use of other pure materials such as marble, glass, precious metals and leather as well as a distinct use of textiles and colour that reflect an open and multi-disciplined awareness, which is unique to e15. Sustainability, human and environmental tolerance as well as degradability are all factors influencing e15’s choice of materials.

WOOD IS THE BACKBONE OF OUR PROJECTS The company celebrates its 138 years of activity in the production of high level and quality furniture. With the collection Emmemobili, for over 25 years, the Tagliabue brothers combine - thanks to the creative spurs of Ferruccio Laviani and of other designers - the art and the artisanal skill of wood working, typical of their culture, together with the research of new materials, of new workings, of new matching of materials, also helped by their experiences achieved in various contract projects realized. Materials rich and refined but not ostentatious, materials that are part of our historical and cultural legacy. It is also the innovation in the research of new shapes, with the clear emphasis of being free from a precise "leitmotiv" of style but being able to move, sometimes daringly, towards achieving "pieces of art", with theirdefinite personality, not necessarily linked one another, but
At Emmemobili we certainly know how to train shapes with our products. Final products are and must be a marriage between the company and the designer. Indeed, Emmemobili only makes products which play our trumpcard of unmistakable designs. The company works with designers in making products. All our experience means products are finely tuned and complete. The complete cycle, from prototypes via manufacture to the final product, is carried out inside the company with extremely skilled craftsmen and three-dimensional modeling software.

each for itself. Wood is the backbone of our projects. Wood is strong, robust, solid. It is the Earth. It is where we all came from. Shaped wood is flexible, sensuous, feminine, the very symbol of malleability. It can be shaped, moulded, and transformed into items with no straight lines, which are a soft, elegant sign of the world to come.
