What we offer

Privacy at Genistar

A Personalised Financial Plan: We will help you complete a questionnaire to identify your present circumstances, and future financial objectives. You will then receive a copy of your personal Financial Game Plan to help you in making decisions for your financial future. There is no cost for the Financial Game Plan.

Protection Insurance: We will identify your financial protection needs and provide you with information on relevant products offered by high quality insurers, selected by Genistar. We have selected Friends Provident Life Assurance Limited for our clients’ term assurance needs, and Assurant to meet our clients’ needs for Home Buildings and Contents Insurance.

Regulated Mortgages and Other Debt Consolidation: We will introduce you to a mortgage broker who is directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority as a mortgage broker and is authorised by the Office of Fair Trading in relation to consumer credit activity, who will provide you with information on their regulated mortgage products, debt consolidation and other debt solutions. We will not charge you to introduce you to an intermediary or a lender but we may receive commission from them. The amount of such commission will be set out in the documents provided to you the intermediary and/or the lender and will be disclosed to you on request. The mortgage broker will typically require a cheque for a minimum of £100 to open a file and begin to advise you. This is usually non-refundable and is to ensure that you are serious about getting help. The mortgage intermediary will advise you as early as possible of any fees which you will be required to pay.

Investments: We will introduce you to a Genistar Investment Adviser who can advise you and make a recommendation to you in respect of the F&C Fund Management Limited investment products which Genistar is able to make available to you.

We Do Not Advise On Retirement Planning (including Occupational or Personal Pensions, Pension Transfer or Opt Outs); Taxation Planning; Wills and Trusts; and Mortgages, Re-mortgages and Debt Consolidation Loans.

As you consider this, we encourage you to make choices that enable us to provide you with quality products and services in connection with your financial needs and objectives.

Security of Personal Information The security of your personal information is our priority. We protect this information by maintaining physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that meet or exceed applicable law. We train our employees in the proper handling of personal information. When we use other companies to provide services for us, we require them to protect the confidentiality of personal information they receive.

Your Personal Information For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998 the Data Controller in respect of personal data that you provide to your Genistar Representative is Genistar Limited (“Genistar” “we” “us”). We will use your personal data to provide you with financial information relating to insurance and investments and to provide you with information on mortgages and debt consolidation. We may also use your personal data for business administration purposes and for the following purposes: to carry out market research, statistical analysis, customer profiling and to administer any commission payments we make to your Genistar Representative, other Genistar Representatives, upline of your Representative and third party companies who provide services to us. We have contracts in place with these entities to ensure your information is kept confidential and only used for the purposes described above. We will also disclose information to certain bodies where we have a legal obligation to do so, for example to comply with anti-money laundering laws or a request from the Financial Services Authority or HM Revenue and Customs. We may also contact you in person, by telephone, in writing or by email about other products or services offered by Genistar. We may also provide your details to carefully selected third parties who may provide products and services that we believe may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive such information from these third parties or us please write to us at the address below. You will also have the opportunity to opt out from receiving marketing material by ticking the appropriate box on any product application forms we request you to sign. You have the right to access your information under the Data Protection Act 1998. What we believe Genistar Limited’s (“Genistar”) aim is to help middle income families solve the fundamental problems that keep them from achieving financial independence. We believe that everyone should create a financial game plan to help them achieve their goals for the future, including: Providing for immediate cash needs and long-term financial security through term life insurance and critical illness cover, reducing debt, and saving for the future We, the founders and team of Genistar have many years of experience in helping to provide families with Financial Education. We are not IFAs (Independent Financial Advisors) but we will help to educate you so that you may make informed decisions and give you a PHD! That stands for Proper Honest Direction when it comes to finances. Let’s face it ... we are not taught much about money in school and most of us find out about money by making mistakes. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would educate us to make the right decisions? Well, that is what we do at Genistar. We know that the customer is the most important person in our business. In fact our motto is “Your Future is our Future”. We teach our associates to always do what is right and to treat the customer like they would their own family. Name: And principal place of business: 1. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) The FSA is the independent watchdog that regulates financial services. This document has been designed by the FSA to be given to consumers considering buying certain financial products. You need to read this important document. It explains the service you are being offered and how you will pay for it.

2 Whose products do we offer? Investments  We offer products from the whole of market.  We only offer products from a limited number of companies.  We only offer products from a single company - F&C Fund Management Limited. Insurance  We offer products from a range of insurers.  We can only offer products from a limited number of insurers  We only offer products from a single insurer, Friends Provident, for Term Critical Illness Insurance and Life Assurance, and from a single insurer, Assurant, for Home Buildings & Contents Insurance.

3. Which service will we provide you with? Investments  We will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs.  You will not receive advice or a recommendation from us. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed. Insurance  We will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your protection needs  You will not receive advice or a recommendation from us for Term Critical Illness Insurance and Life Assurance, or Buildings & Contents Insurance. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed.

4. What will you have to pay for our Services? Investments  If you buy a financial product, we will normally receive commission on the sale from the product provider. Although you pay nothing to us up front, that does not mean our service is free. You still pay us indirectly through product charges. Product charges pay for the product provider’s own costs and any commission. These charges reduce the amount left for investment. If you buy direct, the product charges could be the same as when uying through an adviser, or they could be higher or lower. The amount of commission we receive will vary depending on the amount

you invest. For example, if you invest £100 per month into an individual savings account (ISA) we would receive commission of 4% of the amount invested. The actual amount of this commission will be disclosed to you before you enter into any investment contract, but you may ask for this information earlier. Before we provide you with advice, we will give you our “Key Facts” Guide about the cost of our Services. The commission payment does not include payment for any ongoing service, such as a periodic or ongoing review. Insurance  A Fee  No Fee You will receive a quotation which will tell you about any other fees relating to any particular insurance policy.

5. Who regulates us?

Genistar is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Our FSA number is 472050. Genistar’s permitted business is to: Advising on and arranging packaged investment products for private customers; and Advising on and arranging non-investment related insurance contracts. 6. What to do if you have a complaint If you wish to register a complaint, please contact Genistar: in writing Write to Genistar Limited at the above Field Support Centre address. by phone Telephone 01737 300 528 If you cannot settle your complaint with us, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Services

7. Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)? We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Investments Most types of investment business are covered for 100% of the first £50,000 so the maximum compensation is £50,000. Insurance Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 90% of the sum insured or sum assured with no upper limit. Further information about compensation scheme arrangements is available from the FSCS.
