ENDOWED CHAIR FOR PULSE CROP INNOVATION
Y OUR I NVES T MENT
The creation of an innovative Pulse Crop Program at Washington State University (WSU) is an essential part of improving the world’s food delivery system and would enable WSU scientists to develop solutions to challenges found in the U.S. and around the world. Creation of an endowed chair position at WSU would provide the anchor needed to serve the industry and address these challenges. A $3,000,000 investment from the industry would fund an endowed chair for an outstanding leader in areas such as genetics and genomics with a focus on nutrition, and who also has the leadership skills required to develop and nurture a world-class research and education program, providing:
Investment in this endeavor will ensure the Pacific Northwest pulse crop industry remains competitive in the world market by developing and improving nutritionally beneficial varieties and by expanding end-use products and technologies. To remain competitive, it is essential that our industry be in position to actively take advantage of developing scientific knowledge and developments worldwide and to create new and improved products here at home.
