Page 1

LETTER FROM CHF Thank you for your dedication to saving and improving kids’ lives across our region, and around the world. Through your bold and innovative fashion shows, CAISA continues to be an outstanding partner and champion of kids’ health. Children’s Health Foundation is very grateful for CAISA’s ongoing support, and we thank you for working so hard to truly make a difference in the lives of the children and families we support. Over the past 14 years, CAISA has raised over $260 000 for the Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre, Children’s Health Research Institute and Thames Valley Children’s Centre. Your generosity is positively impacting the full spectrum of care for the kids who need it most. Last year, Children’s Hospital and our dedicated healthcare partners received nearly 107,000 visits from patients who need our help to overcome obstacles to their optimal health and wellness. Thanks to our incredible supporters, like CAISA, patients have access to gold standard equipment and specialized programs that position Children’s Hospital as a place of hope and healing. Your support is also creating opportunities for young people with disabilities to discover new found self-esteem and lifelong interests. Your donations are mobilizing researchers to creative innovative solutions that foster hope and resiliency for kids struggling with conditions that compromise their quality of life. Your support is meaningful, and it is valued. Thank you for extending your compassion and generosity to infants, children, and adolescents who need our help to overcome insurmountable odds. For all that you do, we are truly grateful and we look forward to celebrating all of your future successes as our region’s most vibrant and awe-inspiring fashion show. Yours truly,

R. Scott Fortnum, MA, CFRE, ACFRE President & Chief Executive Officer

Valerie Rousom Director-at-Large, Board of Directors

DIRECTOR’S WORD I am thrilled for you to be joining us on our 20th annual CAISA Fashion Show. This year’s program, Innova, explores the themes of courage and change through the story of an individual taking a standing when everyone else turn their backs. Join our eclectic city in this tale of transformation as we witness the evolution of an underdog to a rising superhero. With our partnership with Children’s Health Foundation entering its 17th year, our philanthropic drive is stronger than ever. CAISA Fashion Show is proud to present $50,000 to Novel Models of Genetics Disorders project. We hope that our contribution may pave the way for meaningful discoveries in understanding pediatric disease development and engineering targeted therapies for genetic disorders. The diagnosis of a genetic disorder in a child is devastating, with parents left with many unanswered questions and few meaningful treatments. This is particularly true in genetic disorders associated with abnormal brain development given our lack of understanding of underlying causes or therapies. Thank you, our audience members, for being here tonight and contributing to this cause. Our humble beginnings started at the Wave with an audience of a mere hundred. 20 years later, CAISA Fashion Show has become an icon of high calibre performances, philanthropy, and creative artistry. Our executive team and models have put countless hours and their heart and soul into pushing creative boundaries and leaving a monumental mark in our community. I am incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside such passionate, enthusiastic, and driven individuals that inspire me everyday. On behalf of the CAISA Fashion Show 2018, it is with great pride I present to you: Innova. Enjoy!

Edward Feng Executive Director CAISA FASHION SHOW

EUGÉNIE AMEGAH-WOVOE Eugenie Amegah-Wovoe, also known as A J, studied at Fanshawe College for fashion design. In her journey as a fashion designer, she has participated in a few fashion shows that have taken place in Toronto and London, Ontario. She has had the pleasure of creating a spring/summer collection for a record label in Edmonton named Tuff House. Coming from an African descent, A J has been surrounded by all the beautiful prints, textures, and silhouettes. This has had a huge impact on her design aesthetic which she has combined with a twist of urban and street. A J is now working towards her own urban and classy brand that caters to both women and men of all shapes sizes and colours called “NYKWALE”. “NYKWALE” is a urban clothing brand inspired by the beautiful African cultures. It is a brand for the bold and the brave. Wearing NYKWALE is more than just wearing clothes... It’s about a lifestyle. To be seen, to be heard and to be understood. Live to be different from the rest. Be your best self and wear NYKWALE so they know it’s real.
