Venus was the name given by the Romans to Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love.

From the union of Uranus and Gea - Sky and Earth – the Titans were born , two of which, Cronos and Rhea, eventually would be the parents of the gods of Olympus: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon‌ According to Hesiod's Theogony, Venus was born when Cronus cut off Uranus's genitals and threw them into the sea.

Of those genitals and the foam that emerged from them was born,already adult, the beautiful Aphrodite, which was pushed by Zephyrus, God of the winds, and Aura, Goddess of the sea breeze to the shores of Kythira.
