TRANSFORMING YOUR COLLEGE DIGITAL SKILLS • ADVANCED MANUFACTURING • CAD • DENTISTRY • PHARMACY

MULTI-MILLION POUND REFURBISHMENT In 2015-16 Calderdale College will be undertaking a multi-million pound building programme to transform three floors of the main campus into state-of-the-art learning facilities. Co-funded by the College and the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership this exciting development will allow the College to deliver new courses to meet local skills and employment needs. G Floor will be transformed into a Digital Skills and Business Enterprise Centre to deliver new courses in Games Design, Video Editing, Visual Effects, CAD and Computer Sciences. F Floor will become a new Health Industries learning and training facility offering Health & Social Care and Childcare courses and technical courses in Dentistry* and Pharmacy*. The final stage of the building programme will see the creation of a state-of-the-art Learning Resource Centre, housing the latest digital technology and print resources that are essential for learning and employability in the 21st century. * We will be running courses in Dental Nursing and Pharmaceutical Science.

Calderdale College has a set of standard entry requirements; but never be deterred by the lack of formal qualifications or by not meeting the entry requirements. Apply for the course you want to study and we will help you get there. There are a lot of courses available - work focused, practical or academic, so it is important to think about the future and whether you want to proceed to university, move onto another course or get a job. TRAINEESHIPS A Traineeship is an education and skills training programme with work experience that prepares young people for a future career by making them ‘work ready’. This course is designed to help young people aged 16-24 who do not have the appropriate skills or experience required for an Apprenticeship programme. The course includes English and maths, interview skills and work related knowledge and skills.

BTECS BTECs are vocational and occupationally relevant courses which help you gain knowledge and vocationally specific skills. They are well recognised by employers and universities. Achieving a BTEC National Qualification over 2 years is the equivalent of 3 A-Levels Grades A-E. Achieving a BTEC First is the equivalent of 5 GCSEs Grades A*-C. Achieving a BTEC Introductory Diploma is the equivalent of 5 GCSEs Grades D-G. All courses are primarily taught through assignment work and case studies and are tested through assignments and time-limited assessments. BTEC Awards and Certificates are accreditations for completing some units but not the full Diploma.

NVQ S & APPRENTICESHIPS NVQs are job-specific, competence based qualifications. NVQs reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively. They are available to anyone, at any age or stage of their career development. The central feature of NVQs is the National

Occupational Standards (NOS) on which they are based. NOS are statements of performance standards that describe what competent people in a particular occupation are expected to be able to do. They cover all the main aspects of an occupation, including current best practice, the ability to adapt to future requirements, and the knowledge and understanding that underpins competent performance. Achieving a Level 3 NVQ is the equivalent of 3 A-Levels Grades A-C. Young people aged between 16 to 24 can earn while they learn on an Apprenticeship; there are a wide range of training opportunities to suit your ability and job preferences. By working to a structured training plan and gaining work experience you will achieve an Apprenticeship framework that reflects your ability. Functional Skills are a requirement for an Apprenticeship framework and an expectation within other courses. If you have not achieved a GCSE Grade C or above in English, maths or a Technical Certificate then you will work on these skills, with help from your vocational tutor, so that you achieve at least a Level 2 in all areas. This is the level required to be effective in work and to access higher level courses.

SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Some courses require special entry requirements, such as a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, references, the completion of a dexterity test, attainment in a pre-course diagnostic assessment, including testing for you to be in training in a job or be successful at an audition or interview. The Admissions Team can help you identify whether you meet the entry requirements and the College can advise prior to an Admissions Event, what evidence may be required. Should you be interviewed at an Admissions Event and not be successful in receiving an offer for the course you applied for, you will be directed onto an alternative level that will enable you to progress.

MATHS & ENGLISH Every 16-18 year old without a Grade C or above in GCSE maths and English will have to study these subjects at College. This can include Functional Skills and ESOL qualifications or if appropriate GCSE resits – see page 46 for further details about GCSE maths and English.

VRQ S VRQs are practical courses that are usually assessed by tests and coursework. They are available in work related subjects such as Hairdressing, and are more job specific than other qualifications. Whilst studying a VRQ you will gain

YOUR STEPS TO COLLEGE COME TO AN OPEN DAY We hold a number of Open Days throughout the year to give you the chance to come in and have a look around and discuss your courses and career options. You can book in (or just drop in) to one of our 2016/17 Open Events - see the inside cover of this guide for details.

WAYS TO APPLY There are 3 different ways of applying. You can tear out the application form in this Course Guide, fill it in and send it back to us. Or print off an application form from our website (or get an application form from your school or careers service). Alternatively, you can apply online at www.calderdale.ac.uk Please search for the course you are interested in and click on the orange ‘Apply now’ button, then fill in your details and click submit. The application will come straight through to us.

WHEN TO APPLY Some of our courses are very popular so it is best to apply early, but don’t worry if you apply late. We accept applications throughout the year and we will try our best to find a course for you.

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS When we receive your application, we will invite you to an Admissions Event. You can bring your parents or guardians with you. The Admissions Process can vary depending upon the course you have chosen. Your Admissions Adviser will meet you in reception and take you to the interviewing room. There will be tours of the College and refreshments available; there will also be an opportunity for you to speak with an Admissions Adviser about your next steps.

OFFER OF A PLACE You will be told at the Admissions Event if you have been successful and will be given an Offer Pack with all details of the course you have been accepted onto. The offer will be either unconditional or conditional upon gaining certain grades on your current course. Do not worry if you don’t receive the grades you were expecting, we may offer you a place on a lower level course. Alternatively, if you do better than expected we may offer you a place on a higher level course.

You will receive an invite to attend a ‘Hello College Day’ held in late June/early July where you can experience some of the course activities, meet other students and get to know the College. Calderdale College is Officially Number One

atest figures reveal an achievement rate of 95.1% at Calderdale College, 7 percentage points above the national average, which has affirmed the Colleges place at the top of the National Success Rates Tables in Yorkshire for 16-18 year olds and 14th in the UK. In last year’s Ofsted report, Calderdale College was praised for equipping students with the skills needed to secure employment after it was judged ‘Good’ by national inspection body Ofsted. Inspectors commented on the ‘Outstanding’ success rates for most students aged 16-19 which are well above national average, as well as ‘Outstanding’ outcomes on apprenticeships. John Rees, Principal & Chief Executive at Calderdale College said: “We are extremely proud of our staff and students who have consistently worked hard to ensure the College continues to provide outstanding teaching and learning. Calderdale College is a great place to study with a growing reputation for excellence and is committed to helping students achieve their goals, providing them with the skills needed to secure employment, training or a place at university. n Thursday 9th July, Calderdale College won a Community Spirit Award in the Community School category for the College’s partnership work with the Arch-Way Project based in Halifax. The award sponsored by Suma Wholefoods was presented to the College and the Arch-Way Project for actively engaging with the wider community and local causes. The College’s work with the Arch-Way project embodies what the Community Spirit Awards are all about and enables the College to effectively engage with and assist the community, helping them to feel a sense of belonging, community spirit and happiness. The partnership started over a year ago and aimed to bring the community together, instilling happiness to recreate a sense of community spirit and provide real hands-on experience for students across Calderdale.

Crime Writing Husband & Wife Team Present Award to Student

arol and Bob Bridgestock, Crime Consultants behind Happy Valley the successful TV series in association with Red Productions visited Calderdale College on Monday 29th June to present the Crime Make-up Artist of the Year award to a Hair, Media Make-up student at the College.

The winner of the award will have the opportunity to shadow professional Make-up Artists on the set of the next series of Happy Valley. Carol Bridgestock, former Hairdressing student from 1976-1980, said: “I loved my time at Calderdale College and relished the chance to pass on what Miss Jordan; my inspirational teacher had taught me. It is such an honour and a privilege to present the RC Bridgestock Crime Make-up Artist Award to a current student at the College and I hope to continue to inspire students to pursue their goals in the years to come.” Carol and Bob presented the Crime Make-up Artist Award to one very deserving winner, Abbygail Robertshaw. Abbygail who has studied, Level 3 Hair, Media Make-up, Level 2 Fashion and Photographic Make-up and Level 3 Bridal Hair over the last academic year said: “I feel honoured and amazed, this award means everything. It’s nice to know that you’ve been recognised for your hard work. Being able to work on Happy Valley is just incredible; there are not many people that would be able to get you that experience.”

My year at Calderdale College Abbygail Robertshaw, Level 2 Photographic Make-up Award and Level 3 Theatrical Special Effects, Hair & Media Make-Up student, 19, from Thornton. School: Hipperholme Grammar School. What’s the best thing about your course? The opportunities you get outside of the curriculum, for example you get to go on film sets. These are opportunities that you can’t get anywhere else.

Best moment: Taking part in the competitions has been my best moments, because it throws you out there and helps build your confidence. Would you recommend Calderdale College to students thinking of doing your course, if so why? Yes I would, because you’ll get more opportunities here than anywhere else. You’ll learn more than just what’s on the curriculum, you’ll learn over and above what you need to learn. So experience wise I’ll come out of here feeling like I’d be ready to work in industry. If I had done just what is on the

syllabus, I wouldn’t feel ready at all. The tutors show you that you can do it and it gives you that drive. How would you sum up Calderdale College? The College is confidence building, they are aware of everyone’s individual needs, no one gets left behind and they do the best they can for each student. Chosen Career/Wants to be: I want to work in Film and TV doing special effects. What’s next? I am hoping to set up business with another girl on the course.

My year at Calderdale College Katie Whelan, Level 3 Sport student, 17, from Queensbury said: School: Queensbury School. Why did you choose this course? I didn’t want to do A-Levels. I’ve always been interested in sport and at Queensbury School they didn’t really have the subjects that I wanted to do. I’ve done a lot of sport, I did gymnastics when I was younger, I’ve done karate, boxing, a bit of football and I’ve played rugby for five years. I’ve played for Queensbury, that was my junior team and then I was picked to play for Yorkshire under 13’s. When I was 16 I joined Bradford open age, but continued to play for Queensbury as well. So on a Saturday I’d play for Queensbury and on Sunday I’d play for Bradford. At the end of last year I got picked to play for Yorkshire again, for the under 17’s and then we had the student trials at the start of this year and that is when I got picked to play for England. My course has given me a good idea of the things I might want to do afterwards. I’ve learnt a lot of new skills and the course is more than what I thought it would be - I really enjoy it here.

What do you think of your tutors? My tutors are really nice and I get along with them all, they are really supportive as well. What’s next? I am thinking about going to university to study Sport and Exercise Science. Do you think you would like to play rugby professionally? Yes I would, but women don’t get paid to play rugby. Because I’m playing for England students, we have to play in the association cup against the Army, Teachers and Lionesses and then from that an England coach will pick people to go for trials and that’s when they make up the England squad for the World Cup.

“I’ve learnt a lot of new skills and the course is more than what I thought it would be.” Would you recommend this course to other prospective students? Yes I would recommend this course. I’ve spoken to some of my friends who are in Year 11 now, who’ve said they are not really interested in A-Levels. I wasn’t either, I’ve told them if they are interested in sport it is worth coming here because, everyone in my class has achieved the highest grade on their assignments, you just need to put the hard work in.

My year at Calderdale College Stacey Illingworth, former Level 3 Joinery Apprentice, 19, from Halifax. Why did you choose this course? Ever since school I’ve always been interested in Joinery. In school I did Product Design, which was the closest we had to Joinery which I really enjoyed. We made a bird house and I just really got into it and decided to come to College. I did Level 1 & 2 first and then the College found me an Apprenticeship.

What’s next? I want to get more experience and then when I’ve got enough confidence I’d like to set up my own business.

Why did you choose Calderdale College? It’s close and I just preferred it to the other colleges, I liked the atmosphere and I know a lot of people here. What do you think of your tutors? I think they are great; they speak to us on the same level. Whereas in school the teachers kind of talk down to you. What does your qualification mean to you? I’m hoping it will take me a lot further in life. When I leave here I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do something for myself. I won’t just have to do a day to day job that I’m stuck with, I can do something that I actually enjoy.

Would you recommend Calderdale College to prospective students? Yes, I would recommend Calderdale College, the atmosphere is great. You don’t feel like you’re an outsider, you can join in and the teachers make you feel like you’re on exactly the same level.

Why did you choose Calderdale College? A lot of my friends were going to Calderdale College and it was a lot closer.

What will these qualifications mean to you? My qualifications mean a lot, it will open doors and other opportunities. It will help me gain the experience I need and help me get into university.

How would you sum up your course and your tutors? My course is fantastic, I like all of it. My favourite units were Anatomy and Physiology. I have been on a placement at the Skill Shop in Halifax twice a week for over two months now, working

What’s next? I have applied to study Level 2 Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care and Level 2 Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities and will also be studying maths and English at the College.

What’s your ultimate goal? My ultimate goal is to study at university, but I am still undecided about what to study and will need to decide between being a Paramedic or a Nurse. Would you recommend your course to prospective students? There are not a lot of courses that give you work experience and this course gives you a lot of skills, knowledge and experience to help you when you go out into the world of work.

My year at Calderdale College Mark Chambers, former Public Services student, 22, from Queensbury, who is now studying Criminology at the University of York.

What do you like best about the College? My favourite thing about Calderdale College was how social it was and the location of the College was great being in Halifax town centre.

How would you sum up your time at the College? I would sum up my time at Calderdale College as a great experience where you learn a lot of things and more than just educational things, you learn life skills as well and you make a lot of friends.

When did you first realise what you wanted to study? The Police Force is something I have always been interested in. I first gained the knowledge from my time at College. The College was very motivational, they pushed me to explore things myself which allowed me to choose what I wanted to.

What did you think of your course? My course has been fantastic in preparing for university, in ways I wouldn’t imagine. You are going to learn new things, but the criminal aspects have been covered really well at College and when you come into a criminal lecture and there are people there that have never studied it before looking slightly confused and you’re thinking well I studied that, I know that it gives you a nice head start for learning. I also enjoyed how much I learnt outside of the academic objectives. You learn a lot of life skills, you do a unit on climbing and you can get certificates and grades on climbing.

What’s next? I am hoping to get a job in the CID department within the Police Force - it is something that has always interested me.

Best moment? My best moment at College was taking part in a week long residential trip in the Lake District which was fantastic. We did a lot of outdoor activities and team building exercises and personal exercises and I think it was good for making friends and getting to know everyone properly. My best moment at university so far was receiving a 1st for delivering a presentation to over 50 people and it is something I wouldn’t have been able to do without the College. You learn how to do presentations at the College; a few years ago I wouldn’t have been able to do it.

What does your qualification mean to you? My qualification from the College has shown me that I can do anything I set my mind to. When I looked at coming to university it said I needed three distinctions to get on my chosen courses and the fact that I can knuckle down and get those good grades means so much to me.

Would you recommend the College to other students thinking of studying your course? I would definitely recommend the College; it is a great stepping stone and it does prepare you for university. Some of the aspects when you come to university are going to be new to you, but a lot of the criminal and political aspects within our course you have already looked at. The course covers so many different areas. How did the College help you to get to where you are now? I’m here because Calderdale College motivated me to go further.

My year at Calderdale College Alisha Bi, former Level 3 Business student, 21, from Huddersfield, who is now studying Business Management at Nottingham Trent University. How would you sum up your time at the College? My time at Calderdale College was really good. I gained a number of transferable skills which I still use in everyday life, especially at university. I also worked in the Enterprise Society whilst at College which enabled me to gain confidence and communicate better with people as before I wasn’t a very confident person.

What advice would you give other students? I would choose a course that you enjoy. I didn’t think I would be good at languages, but I wanted to learn a language and thought I would enjoy it. How have you found the last year at Nottingham Trent University? I have found it quite interesting. I have learnt loads of new things on my different modules. It is quite daunting at first, but once you start your lectures and seminars it’s not as independent as I thought it was going to be, you do get quite a lot of support from your tutors as well.

What’s next? I am planning to do a placement year in my third year, but because I am doing French which is integrated into my course, I am hoping in my placement year, I will be going to work abroad and learn loads of new skills. My goal is to work internationally in a marketing company and hopefully to work with lots of different companies and combine it with my marketing skills.

CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAMMES At Calderdale College we think a talent or passion for sport is something definitely worth nurturing. That’s why we don’t think you should have to give them up just because you’re studying for a career. Our brilliant Centres of Excellence programmes are specifically designed to provide top level training in our state-of-the-art facilities for anyone looking to pursue a sporting goal while they study one of our College courses. From expert coaching and training programmes that fit around your timetable right through to weekly matches, annual tours and even the chance to turn pro: here’s an unbeatable opportunity to really fulfil your career and sporting potential. The Centres of Excellence programmes are designed for young athletes to combine academic studies with an

outstanding training and playing experience. Calderdale College currently offers Cricket, Football and Rugby League to both male and female students and compete within the British University and College leagues. The programme offers you the chance to train three times a week and have a competitive fixture every Wednesday afternoon. The programmes offer you the opportunity to develop a range of skills including technical and tactical awareness, together with a comprehensive strength and conditioning programme. Please note that all students who are registered to the programme are more than welcome to compete for other local/semiprofessional teams outside of College. Each Centre of Excellence has exclusive use of the state-ofthe-art facilities, including a fully equipped fitness suite, indoor sports hall, multi-use full sized professional grass pitch

alongside the 3G facility, all of which are used throughout the year for training. The Centre of Excellence coaches are highly educated professionals, who understand the needs of young athletes and will dedicate their time and energy to help every individual succeed both on the field and in the classroom. In regards to the personal development, we offer all players a quarterly review to support them on their progress throughout the College and also prepare the players for life after College. All players will leave the College with a nationally recognised qualification in Sport and will also gain access to vocational qualifications in Sports Coaching and Gym Instructing. Annual trips are also offered to all players to celebrate the success of the season and their personal achievements.

PARTNERSHIPS We work alongside many sporting professional and semi-professional partners who require the high standard of facilities we have to offer. We have recently set up bespoke packages with FC Halifax Town, Halifax Rugby League Football Club and Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket, the official coaching provider for Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

FC HALIFAX TOWN operate a full-time Football and Education Scholarship in partnership with Calderdale College. The bespoke programme for those players selected by FC Halifax Town is delivered on site at Calderdale College. Those selected will work towards a BTEC Sport qualification and can look forward to an excellent development programme dedicated to encouraging young footballers to maximise their potential both on the field and on a pathway towards a chosen career. The Football Centre of Excellence is a unique training scheme which is designed for young athletes aged 16-19 to combine outstanding football training with their academic studies. The Centre will provide a positive and vibrant environment which will allow students to develop their game by experiencing life as a professional. It will also provide students with competitive fixtures by playing weekly in the ECFA Yorkshire & Humberside League, which is renowned for developing both professional and semi-professional players. With a fantastic range of courses and highly qualified tutors Calderdale College is fast becoming the college of choice for student athletes. Players will acquire a nationally recognised qualification that can lead to full-time employment or further study on degree programmes. Throughout the year, tutors and coaches will monitor the progress of each player both on and off the field. Parent reviews will be in place to keep parents updated on their sonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s progress, creating an exit route.

PRO COACH YORKSHIRE CRICKET PRO COACH YORKSHIRE CRICKET are the official coaching provider for Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Be a part of a brand new, unique Cricket Centre of Excellence at Calderdale College. We are offering an outstanding opportunity for students to combine any course with a professional cricket coaching on their doorstep. Students will be able to study and train as a student athlete under one roof in the on site state-of-the-art Inspire Sports & Fitness Centre at the College. Students will be under the tutorship of current and ex-professional cricketers and will be provided with information coming directly out of the professional game. Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket will deliver and drive the Cricket initiative, allowing students to utilise the extensive network and links in the community to help them progress professionally.

HALIFAX RLFC HALIFAX RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB Calderdale Rugby League Centre of Excellence are looking to build upon their recent success of being crowned national champions. We run an exceptional development programme for rugby and have experience in developing players to become professionals/semiprofessional players. We have a number of partnerships with local clubs in place to make sure all players are fixed with a club for extra development. Calderdale College in partnership with Halifax RLFC are offering a select number of places to students interested in playing rugby professionally alongside their chosen course on the only recognised pathway to the Halifax RLFC reserve and first team. This pathway is the first tier 3 accredited scheme in Calderdale, which is part of the new RFL initiative to introduce a pathway from grass root to elite performance. This new pathway, currently in its second year, is aimed at student athletes who wish to combine their academic studies with an opportunity to progress into the professional game. The initiative has been set up with Halifax RLFC and will Calderdale College

allow students at Calderdale College to receive professional coaching and play alongside the Halifax RLFC first team in the College’s state-of-the-art facilities. Halifax RLFC will offer support to deliver and drive the rugby initiative at the College. Students at the College will be able to utilise the extensive network and links in the community to help them progress professionally and gain a range of employability skills enabling them progress on to university. The UK is the world’s sixth largest manufacturer with an engineering turnover of around £800 billion per year; whilst the UK makes up only 1% of the world’s population, we produce 10% of the world’s top scientific research. Employers are finding it difficult to recruit STEM skilled staff and if you study STEM subjects you will have the potential to earn amongst the highest salaries of all new recruits. A range of equipment is also available for use by students, including digital dictaphones, voice activated computer software and ergonomic keyboards. • Note Takers and Scribes are also available in class and, where appropriate, exams. INFORMATION FOR PARENTS RAISING THE PARTICIPATION AGE The Government has increased the age to which all young people in England must continue in education or training until their 18th birthday from 2015.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS Raising the participation age (RPA) does not necessarily mean staying in school. Young people have a range of options to choose from the age of 16: • Full-time education in a school, college or with a training provider (A-Levels, NVQs, BTECS & NVQs) • Part-time education or training if they are employed, self-employed or volunteering full-time (20 hours or more a week) • Work-based learning such as an Apprenticeships

PASTORAL CARE Calderdale College welcomes parents, carers and guardians to become involved with the College and the young person’s learning to maximise the success of their learning experience. We fully recognise the value and necessity of working together where the

student is still dependant on family support, and encourage you to make contact if any issues arise. Parents, carers and guardians will receive a written progress review twice a year, and will be invited to attend parent/carer events during the first and second term.

An additional AS Level is valuable if you are considering progressing onto higher education. As a result, students meeting the entry requirements for Crossley Heath School can apply to study an additional AS in the subjects listed below. MONEY TALKS MONEY AND YOU You will not pay tuition and examination fees if you are between the ages of 16–18 (under 19 on 31st August of the year of entry). However, it is important to investigate the full cost of coming to College and make sure that you budget properly for your time here. There are a number of support schemes available to help you manage the costs involved in becoming a full-time student.

LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY (LEA) TRAVEL SCHEMES If you are a full-time student aged 16–18 and live in Calderdale, you can travel by bus for half price with the Scholars Photo Card, provided in partnership with Calderdale College and Metro.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS Calderdale College has funds available to provide financial support to students who are facing hardship. Students may apply to the following funds:

16 - 19 GUARANTEED BURSARY This is a Guaranteed Bursary of £1,200 available for all young students who fall within the vulnerable groups indicated in the government guidance.

16 - 19 ENHANCED LEARNER SUPPORT FUND This is a fund available to support young students facing financial hardship with the costs of study. This discretionary support is available for equipment, travel and lunch whilst at College.

COLLEGE MEAL DEAL Students aged 16-18 years old on 31 August 2015 and who meet the Government criteria and those aged 19-25 who are subject to a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) or Education Health Care Plan (EHC plan) may be eligible for a College Meal Deal. 19+ ENHANCED LEARNER SUPPORT FUND Provides financial support for adult students facing financial hardship with the costs of study. Students may apply for financial assistance with the costs of equipment, travel and childcare, and any course exam or registration fees.

CARE TO LEARN A central fund available to provide students aged 16-19 with financial support for childcare.

PERCIVAL WHITLEY EDUCATIONAL TRUST This is a local trust which provides financial support to students of the College. All applications to the funds must be made to Student Services on the appropriate forms, available in Advice & Guidance on A Floor of the Percival Whitley Centre or download from the website. All funds are subject to eligibility rules.

ARMY BURSARY SCHEME Calderdale College is working in partnership with the Army on a scheme that rewards students for attending College to complete a vocational course and join the Army at the end of their course. The Army has chosen only a few colleges to run the scheme. A wide range of subject areas are eligible for the scheme including Public Services, Sport, IT, Construction and Administration. The scheme provides financial rewards totalling at least £1,000 for completing your course and a bonus of £1,000 for completing basic training. APPLICANTS AGED 19-24 You will not pay fees if you are over 16 and on a maths & English course (speak to Advice & Guidance for further information about this). If you are considering studying Language (ESOL—English for Speakers of Other Languages) you may be eligible for support with course fees. You will not have to pay tuition fees if you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance. You may not pay tuition fees if you are 19 or over and wish to complete your first full Level 1 or Level 2 qualification. If you are 19–23 and are studying your first full Level 3 qualification you may not need to pay tuition fees (ask Advice & Guidance for further details). You may not need to
