THE CALGARY SCIENCE SCHOOL
Principal’s Message What a year! As a school we faced a budget crunch the magnitude of which we haven’t seen for a decade and a half in the province, we worked through two large capital projects in the IAC and the staff room, we took six hundred students on a total of 39 days of trips involving overnight stays, we undertook a complete revamp of how we assess our fine arts programs, we held out first parent conference, we welcomed dozens of visitors to our school, and we did it all with our own CSS style! With all of the activity,
opportunity and challenge at the school, our students continue to excel and represent our school incredibly well in all they do. I am extremely proud of our students and staff and am humbled by the opportunity to be a part of it. I want to thank our CSS parents and particularly our volunteers. The students’ experience is deeply enriched by the efforts of our parents to support their learning. The incredible dedication of our parent volunteers provides the support required for us to offer the program we do. I am grateful for your work and contributions over the course of this past year.
I wish everyone a restful summer break and hope that it is full of family time. Plans for next year have been underway for weeks now and, as much as I am greatly anticipating the beginning of summer, I am truly excited about the opportunities that next year will bring, beginning on August 18th. Lastly, to our departing grade nines, thank you for your commitment, hard work, and your lasting contributions to CSS. I wish you well and hope to hear from all of you about your successes into next year and beyond. Sincerely, Darrell Lonsberry
