This Week in ASP Digital ASP!

Welcome to This Week in ASP! Your newest spot for all the games and activities you love in after-school, and some new ones, now in a newsletter! Stay tuned for more awesome activities and brain breaks to keep you and your family engaged and smiling!


InterACTive Playdough Pictionary What You’ll Need: Playdough at least 1 small ball per player paper and pencil bowl or hat How to Play: Great activity for families to use their imaginations! Split into teams Write age-appropriate words on paper (list) and place in a bowl Players choose a word and sculpt it with playdough and try to get their teammates to guess the word

Snap, clap, stomp: Stand in a circle or facing one another Count off “1, 2, 3”. (“1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, etc.”) Do it again, but this time all the 1’s will be replaced by a snap of the fingers. (“snap, 2, 3, snap, 2, 3, etc.”)Do it again, but this time also replace the 2 with a clap. (snap, clap, 3, snap, clap, 3, etc.) For the final round, 1 will be replaced by a snap, 2 will be replaced by a clap, and 3 will be replaced by a stomp. (snap, clap, stomp, snap, clap, stomp, etc.)


Pencil Prompts

1. You are a mad scientist and have invented a new vegetable. What is it called? What does it look like? What does it taste like? Most importantly: Is it safe to eat? (Bonus: Draw it!) 2. What would you most like to learn over the next year? Think about things that interest you or questions you might have about the world and make a list! 3. Choose 3 random objects where you are sitting . Now write a story or poem that includes those three items!

Self Care Suggestions

Make a calm down jar Set-up a “cozy corner” in your home for when you need a quiet, private space to relax and regroup. Bring your new calm down jar, soft pillows & stuffies, and some books. Smile (and hold it for 30 seconds) Color these inspirational drawing pages: In this Together & Be Hopeful Make a stress ball

Spread Some Sunshine

Prepare a meal for your grown-ups. Tell each of your family members or friends one thing you admire about them. Set-up a little free library of books in your building for your neighbors to trade and enjoy. Leave a note in your mailbox to thank your mail carrier for their hard work. Call a loved one for no reason in particular—just to say hi.
