April Events
March 31, Habitat for Humanity of Calhoun County celebrated a ribbon cutting for their new location at 22 West 10th Street in Anniston.

April 6, Leadership Calhoun County 2016 and Alumni were joined by Coach Grass, JSU Head Football Coach, for their Spring Leadership Luncheon.
April 7, the Center for Domestic Preparedness hosted the Chamber’s Business & Biscuits, allowing members to tour their Advanced Responder Training Complex and its realistic environments including a simulated office space, medical clinic, fast food restaurant, and more.
April 8, Rosie's Gourmet 2 Go celebrated a ribbon cutting for their location at 3337 Henry Road in Anniston.
The Hotel Finial, located at 1600 Quintard Avenue in Anniston, celebrated its ribbon cutting on April 11. April 13, the City of Piedmont hosted a Chat with the Chamber at the Piedmont Civic Center for area businesses. Thank you to everyone who attended!
April 14, New Harvest Christian Center celebrated a ribbon cutting for their location at 3511 Alexandria Road in Anniston.
April 13, C.A.R.E.S. sponsored and hosted Lunch & Leads at Mellow Mushroom’s 33 Industrial Drive location in Oxford. With 42 members in attendance, it’s tied for the largest crowd.

April 19, Webb Concrete & Building Materials hosted Business After Hours at their Ready Mix Plant in Oxford, showcasing their concrete stamps and stain. April 21, 2nd Chance hosted a ribbon cutting for their Sexual Violence Program Office at 617 Wilmer Ave in Anniston, followed by an open house.
April 14, Leadership Calhoun County held their Cultural Arts Day, touring the museums, Longleaf Studios and more. April 28, the Chamber Board met for their monthly board meeting. The Board of Directors are a group of individuals chosen to make strategic decisions, providing financial oversight, while ensuring and monitoring the strength of services and supporting the staff to ensure adequate resources and planning.

New Members, members looking to get more engaged, or those considering membership are welcome to attend. April 12, Alabama Power hosted the Ambassadors Monthly Meeting. Thank you Alabama Power and Ambassadors for your support on the Chamber and its programs!
April 12, area hoteliers were invited to a Hotel/Motel April 20-24, the Calhoun County Fair rolled into town, at the Meeting at the Oxford Civic Center and heard from JSU corner of Bynum-Leatherwood and Hwy 431. Athletic Director Greg Seitz.

May 3, Birmingham Theological Seminary celebrated a ribbon cutting for their Calhoun County Extension Campus at Anniston Bible Church. Pastors from several partner churches were present from Anniston, Oxford and Jacksonville, and guests were May 6, the City of Weaver celebrated a ribbon cutting for their new Weaver City Meeting Center, located at the invited for lunch. Weaver City Hall Complex on Anniston Street.
May 5, Cider Ridge Golf Club hosted the Chamber’s monthly Business & Biscuits at their 200 Apple Blossom Way location in Oxford.
May 5, American Back Institute celebrated a ribbon cutting for their 828 S Quintard Avenue location in Oxford, next to Martin’s.
May 5, Hometown Parent Magazine celebrated a ribbon cutting for their location at the Northeast Alabama Entrepreneurial System, located at 1400 Commerce Blvd in Anniston.
May 10, the Youth Leadership Calhoun County 20152016 class graduated.
May 11, Lunch and Leads was held at Zoe's on the Lake, located at 187 Angel Lake Road in Weaver. Held the second Wednesday of each month, this month’s networking event was hosted by Webb Concrete & Building Materials.
May 17, Jacksonville State University’s College of Commerce and Business Administration hosted the Chamber’s Business After Hours at Meehan Hall.

At our May 26th Board Meeting, Kelley Pearce presented Leadership Calhoun County W. Roy Crow Award to Jack Brim of B.R. Williams Trucking & Logistics. Each year the LCC Advisory Committee presents the W. Roy Crow Award to an outstanding alumnus of Leadership Calhoun County, who has demonstrated exceptional community leadership and involvement. The list of past recipients includes a legacy of extraordinary business leaders, community volunteers and LCC supporters that have made numerous contributions in the areas they serve.

The sinkholes have been repaired, and on June 24, the Chamber celebrated with the City of Jacksonville, cyclists, walkers and the community the grand re-opening of the 32.5 mile Ladiga Trail.

June 29, A Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held for the new Genesis Senior Emotional Care Unit at RMC Jacksonville. Guests met members of the RMC Board of Directors, and were treated to refreshments and tours of the new facility. This unit is dedicated to treating behavioral, emotional, or mental health problems in Senior Adults.

Since 1917, when Camp McClellan was established, Military and Security Affairs have been a key to the economy of Calhoun County. The Military and Security Affairs Committee (MSAC) was established to promote public awareness and understanding of our area resources and the issues challenging the military and security industries locally and nationally, while serving as advocates for our military and security communities. Your active participation in this committee can and will help ensure the retention and growth of our military, federal civilian and homeland defense forces in the area. There are four installations that have a huge economic impact on our region: - The 167th Theater Army Sustainment Command - The Ft McClellan Army National Guard Training Center - The Center for Domestic Preparedness - The Anniston Army Depot Collectively, these organizations employ 5500-6500 people who live in and/or contribute to the economic well being of Calhoun County. At one time, however, that total was approximately 10,000. In the face of constant government downsizing and restructuring, advocating and protecting these jobs and our economy are essential to the future of this region. The Chamber’s MSAC will be responsible for maintaining a strong cooperative relationship with military and security representatives, while developing strategies and programs to ensure we show our appreciation for their contributions, including hosting and attending special events.

Held Superintendent Roundtable with all 5 public schools systems represented YLCC participated in Gadsden State / Technology Day with 31 students visiting the campus LCC Leadership Lunch had 60 alumni and current class members hearing from guest speaker, Coach John Grass LCC class participated in Cultural Arts Day with the class visiting the Anniston Museum Campus, Longleaf Studios, Zoes on the Lake, Buckner Event Plaza and The Church of St. Michael and All Angels. The Chamber hosted the June Chamber Ambassador's Meeting with 16 in attendance. Conducted a Business Walk Through Town with Mayor Bill Baker in Piedmont on Wednesday, April 6. Held a Chat with the Chamber on Wednesday, April 13 at the Clyde H. Pike Civic Center in Piedmont. 20 participants from the Piedmont area learned about Chamber programs and the value of membership. Mayor Bill Baker and James Bennett gave testimonies about the work the Chamber does on behalf of everyone in Calhoun County and the importance of membership. Business after Hours was held on Tuesday, April 19 at the Webb Ready Mix Concrete Plant in Oxford, and catered by Classic Catering. 3 new members joined the Chamber as a direct result of this event. Business after Hours was held on Tuesday, May 17 at JSU's Meehan Hall. The event was sponsored by the College of Commerce and Business Administration, and catered by Cooter Brown's Rib Shack. Business after Hours was held on Tuesday, June 21 at Buster Miles Ford & Chevy in Heflin, connecting our greater communities. Met with R.L. Moore Photography, certified service provider for Google Street View, to finalize our partnership. Rickey Moore will be conducting a series of FREE seminars to help our members create or enhance their online presence, while the Chamber earns a new stream of Non-Dues Revenue. "Let's Put Our Cities On The Map with Google", the first seminar in our Google Workshop Series, was held at the Chamber on Wednesday, May 18 with 18 members attending. "Google Your Way To Growth", the second seminar in our Google Workshop Series, was held at the Chamber on Friday, June 24 with 10 members attending. The Chamber currently has 1089 members. 13 new members joined the Chamber in April. 7 new members joined the Chamber in May. 14 new members joined the Chamber in June. The Visit Calhoun County blog has generated more than 1107 page views. There are 9 new Visit App Users. The Visit Calhoun County Facebook Page now has 1088 likes. @VisitCalhounCo has 357 followers on Twitter. @VisitCalhounCo has 154 followers on Instagram, with 1068 new likes in from 69 pictures and hashtags.
Public Relations
The Chamber Facebook page has 3331 likes. CalhounChamber.com had more than 11,585 visitors, with 15,571 directory searches of our online membership directory. With 14 active job postings, we garnered 426 views. Our Calhounchamber.com event calendar received more than 82,846 searches. Our 5 Hot Deals received 225 views. The Chamber's Twitter, @CalhounChamber, has 1,027 followers The Chamber's Blog garnered 276 views visitors. The Chamber's App, Calhoun2Go, has 155 users.
