L A U SEX

T L U A S S A Sexual assault is a problem that plagues many college campuses across the nation. In recent months, the problem has gained a significant amount of media attention, which has helped to increase overall awareness of the problem. In response, activists, students, and legislators have used their positions to assert their views on the best way to combat the problem of sexual assault on college campuses. But are rules and regulations, student demonstrations, and roundtable meetings enough to change the culture? Are the actions made by UC Berkeley powerful enough to impact the university community?

N O S T H G U O H T SECOND

O N A T I L O NAP A

I first saw the name “Janet Napolitano in the LA Times as I reached across the breakfast table for my car keys. Though I dismissed it as irrelevant, the name reappeared in bold red paint outside the FSM. Petitions circled through lecture halls, garnering the occasional signature but never mine. During the February 2014 protest, a motley crew of wannabe-Savios screamed a name that just evoked images of tricolor ice cream. Only then did I turn to Google and realize that Janet Napolitano took over as president of the University of California system in August.
