5000

samples are subjected to quality assurance tests at CALIDA each year. Each individual article undergoes at least five quality inspections.

20

minutes is the average time required by a sewer to produce a pair of pyjamas.

The beginnings Founded in 1941, CALIDA starts producing women‘s underwear. 1954: With its marketing of «guaranteed underwear» that is repaired free of charge, CALIDA shows itself to be a woman’s true friend from the outset. 1955: The CALIDA pyjamas with the patented waist and cuff finish that prevented tops and bottoms from riding up, gain renown outside of Switzerland.

QUALITY ASSU RANC E «Quality, service, environmental friendliness & ethics are traditional values at CALIDA.»

Quality assurance is becoming increasingly complex. CALIDA applies various measures to ensure that every product meets the exacting requirements. How is quality assured at CALIDA? Stringent quality guidelines and tests are defined at CALIDA. For example, in addition to optical inspections, chemical and physical tests are also carried out involving tolerance, washing and wearing, workmanship and fitting etc. Suppliers are visited several times a year and we

support suppliers with our technical expertise. Complete confidence in wearing and tolerance – can this be guaranteed at all? Clothing worn close to the skin, such as that produced by CALIDA, is subject to exacting safety requirements. With the Öko-Tex Standard 100 testing and certification system, CALIDA ensures that all products can be worn next to the skin without hesitation. All materials, from yarns to fabrics, sewing thread, elastics, embroidery and labels undergo comprehensive testing for harmful substances.

& RESPONSI B ILITY

What about social responsibility? CALIDA actively supports socially and ethically sound production conditions irrespective of how and where a product is made. To be able to ensure this, CALIDA is a member of the BSCI. Further information can be found at www.calida.com/en/ discover/company/ social-responsibility

For some years now, CALIDA has been a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), which aims to ensure that suppliers comply with specific social and environmental standards. The BSCI code of conduct is based on key international conventions and agreements such as the UN Declaration of Human Rights. The Öko-Tex Standard 100 is the world’s most important textile label, with testing by internationally recognised textile institutions. More than 100 test criteria ensure that textiles pose no health risk and contribute to your well-being.

F E E LI NG QUALIT Y «Natural fibres & CALIDA – an interplay of tradition and future.»

Soft and warm – our natural fibres. Cotton – a completely natural product Good washing properties, high abrasion resistance and wearability features that caress the skin make cotton the most popular raw textile material. Silk – the finest natural fibre with a brilliant sheen Wool – for a pleasant skin climate The soft fabric conserves body warmth but also protects against heat.

Micromodal – extra-fine This natural fibre from beech wood is a completely natural product made using raw herbal materials. The material lends products a smooth surface, durable radiance and soft colours. It is extremely efficient at absorbing moisture away from the skin and allowing it to evaporate, providing an ideal method for regulating body temperature.

TEXTILE CARE TIPS Please turn inside out! Washing clothing inside out protects colours and surfaces. No fabric conditioner Do not use fabric conditioner for delicate micromodal underwear as this will cause the fibres to stick together. Fabric conditioner also reduces the radiance of wool and silk clothing, which means that it is better to use a shampoo. Grey tinge? Have your whites developed a grey tinge over time? Use a detergent for curtains to turn them sparkling white again. White linen can turn yellow if exposed to too strong or excessive sunlight and should therefore be dried in the shade.

Beware of limescale! If your favourite pyjamas suddenly feel hard, it may be that limescale has settled on the fibres. A descaling tablet or a dash of vinegar essence in the last rinse cycle removes the limescale from the washing and keeps your washing machine running smoothly. And don’t worry, the smell will go away. Careful washing Do not select a higher temperature than the one shown on the care label. Washing at too high temperature damages the fibres and fit. Low washing temperatures protect the environment and save money.
