In Latin, signum means “design.” To its founders, Signum represents an identity that transcends any particular architectural style, and symbolizes the firm’s accumulated knowledge and experience, the work of a symbiotic team carefully built over the firm’s 10 years in practice. Each project is distinct and individual, and each design represents a solution to a particular set of opportunities and challenges. “When we founded our firm, we had the opportunity to define a new design practice built on trust, teamwork, inspired problem-solving and the long-term view. We are mindful in our practices, and connect deeply to the stories of each of our clients,” says Jarrod. Adds Juancarlos, “It’s a complementary partnership, built on our dedication to long-lasting relationships, a design approach based on curiosity and collaboration, and a willingness to always push the envelope.” The result is a practice that, within a decade, has built a deep portfolio of residential, winery and hospitality projects, across the wine country and beyond, that includes some of the region’s most highly regarded wineries. Among them are Hall Winery and CADE Estate, the first and second LEED Gold Certified wineries in California.
