With the start of a new school year comes lots of anticipation and excitement. This 2018-2019 school year we, at the Stamford American, wanted to go straight to the source and ask the principals of Stamford ISD about the upcoming school year. Mr. Greg London is the principal of Stamford High school and has been in education for 22 years. He has been with Stamford ISD for 7 years and is starting his third year as principal of the high school. He is confident that this will be a great year for the staff and students. “This is the third year I have been here and everyone knows the job they need to be doing. In a way everyone knows what play we run, and hopefully we can score a touchdown. Everyone is ready to go and knows what to do. We have a great group of students in the senior

class and we’re counting on them to the lead the school in the right direction,” he says. His favorite part of day to day life is being in the classroom. He loves being in the hallways and interacting with the students to produce the level of engagement. Mr. London’s favorite part of being a Stamford Bulldog is the amount of devotion and dedication the community and faculty give to the ISD. Mr. Kevin White is a Stamford native as he graduated Stamford High School in 1992. This is his 13th year as the principal of Stamford Middle School. He is hopeful for a great school year and is excited about the three new teachers walking the halls of the middle school. He is hoping for a ranking of an A for SISD this year as last year we missed making an A by one point! He says, “We are wanting to stay a year ahead of the game. We are

addressing accountability with kids and all of the teachers are on board. We are striving to push for moral and ethics and showing our kids how to be leaders of the community and how to give back to their community.” His favorite part of the day is getting into the classroom and mingling with the students and teachers. “The students being successful in anything whether it is in athletics, band, in class or in learning something new that is what matters.” Mr. White’s favorite part of being a Stamford Bulldog is the long line of traditions that our school has, but that we can adapt those traditions to the students that are in school. He says the community of Stamford is open to new students starting out and letting the kids have their moment because, after all, it is their moment. SEE SCHOOL, PG 10
