Bulldogs Personalize Pawprints BY HEATHER SUTTON The Stamford Athletic Booster Club brought back another Stamford Tradition this past weekend. The Booster Club pre-painted over 130 blue Pawprints throughout the parking lot, and on Monday, September 4, athletes and band members were able to design and personalize their own Pawprints. Parents and almost all 130 Band, Football, Basketball, Cheerleaders and other Athletics departments gathered to paint their names and jersey numbers on the blue Pawprints that go through the parking lot around the tennis courts. The seniors, of course, got first pick of which Pawprint they wanted. The Pawprints were all decorated in Stamford Blue and White and Silver. Such a great idea for the kids to show school spirit. Just the sight of them would get anyone in the spirit. GO, BULLDOGS!!!

Fear of Gas Shortage Sweeps the State When Hurricane Harvey was set to hit the Gulf Coast, more than a dozen oil refineries made the decision to slow production or even stop pumping altogether for the safety of the workers and the power supply. Due to the shutdown, about 22% of the United States’ fuel production was effectively shut down until the storm had passed and the refineries could be back up and running. As a result, it was announced that fuel prices would rise slightly, but would return to normal in a few weeks’ time.
A gas tanker fills up the pumps at Chillerz last Monday afternoon, September 4th. The station was one of many busy places last week as a fear of a gas shortage swept across Texas after Gulf Coast oil refineries were forced to shut down due to Hurricane Harvey.
Months after Lynda Hill retired earlier this year after a long career with the Post Office, Stamford officially has a new Postmaster. His name is Mark Ferry. Mark started his career as a Postal Clerk in Hereford, Texas in 1998. Then in 2003 he transferred to Abilene where he began as a city Postal Carrier and later worked his way to becoming a Customer Service Supervisor. Ferry is married with four children. He says that they (Wife: Trish, Daughter: Alyssa, 19 and sons Conner, 15, Carson 10, and Cutter 8) have enjoyed their time in Stamford and he looks forward to working more with our community. Welcome to Stamford, Mark!
