In July of this year, Middle School receptionist, Renea Jones got a phone call from 2016 Stamford graduate Zoey Smart. Zoey had enlisted in the Air Force and hadn’t seen her family in over a year and a half. She knew she would be coming home to Stamford during September and wanted to surprise her niece, Macie who is in 7th grade. Last Friday at the pep rally Macie was called onto the basketball court to what she thought was a dance competition as part of the Middle School pep rally. High School Principal, Mr. London got over the loud speaker and called Zoey out from the door she was hidden behind. The look on Macie’s face was priceless, and I’m happy everyone at the pep rally got to be part of such a special moment. “She’s always been my person. We’ve always been close. I haven’t seen her in so long and we only get to FaceTime from time to time.” Over the weekend Zoey and Macie watched movies and even went to the fair and spent some much needed family time together. Zoey, we thank you so much for your service and Stamford is proud of you!
