Stamford Residence & Rehab Welcomes New Leader BY KAY SPEARS
Stamford Residence & Rehabilitation Center became privately owned February 2, 2019. Phillip Thompson is the Owner and Administrator, as he is with his two other facilities in Austin and McGregor, Texas. Michael Sims has been the on-site Assistant Administrator since August 1, 2019 running the day-to-day operation with, as he puts it, “boots on the ground.” Sims lives in an apartment on the grounds and is available many more hours than a 9 to 5 person. He visits his children in New Orleans, Louisiana, when he is able. He and Thompson have
been friends since attending the seventh grade together in Chicago, Illinois. They started out as Social Workers in healthcare 20 years ago. “From a Social Worker standpoint, we saw what was broken and we always wanted to make changes and adjustments.” Because of where they were at the Social Work level, they felt their voices were not heard. Each of them worked towards being administrators and with Thompson having ownership, “it allows us to create a structure for what we think healthcare should look like.” SEE SIMS, PG 3
