The New Stamford American Affected by Abilene Fire BY KAY SPEARS A fire began and was contained on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Abilene Reporter News in Abilene, TX. It was reported to be an electrical fire starting on the roof of their building. What connection could this event

at a daily newspaper have to a weekly paper independently published forty miles to the north? Printing the finished product. The New Stamford American is a printing customer of the Wichita Falls Times Record News. The morning the fire at the Abilene paper occurred,

the Stamford paper was being picked up in Wichita Falls, TX. While waiting, this reporter spoke with concerned employees about the ramifications of the fire on their newspaper. The Abilene Reporter News and the Wichita Times Record News are

“sister papers” along with the Corpus Christi Caller Times, the El Paso Times and the San Angelo Standard-Times in Texas and many more across the country. They are all operated under the USA Today Network of the Gannett Company. SEE PAPER, PG 11
