Archives of Stamford American Now Online Many digitized copies of the “Stamford Leader,” “The Stamford News,” “The Stamford American,” and “The New Stamford American” are available in The Portal to Texas History website (https://texashistory.unt.edu/) for you to search people, businesses, events, etc, by typing in a keyword for what you want to find! The easiest way is to go directly to the “Stamford Area Newspaper Collection” at https://texashistory.unt.edu/explore/collections/SANC/ Scroll down on the left and Click on Titles. That will take you to all of the Newspapers in this collection. Then you can click on whichever newspaper you are interested in. You can browse through the papers listed there or get a specific date or decade by clicking on the boxes on the left. You can also click in the Search box and enter a name, event, or keyword, and it will find all the newspapers in which that word is located. You can then click on one of the issues listed and then click on the image of the front page and the words you put in the search box will be highlighted in yellow. The digitization project is a great tool for genealogists and others searching for family information, or anyone just interested in Stamford history! This digitization project is made possible by a generous grant from the Tocker Foundation and in cooperation with the Stamford Carnegie Library. To learn more about accessing the archive and utilizing more advanced tools, Ana Krahmer for the University of North Texas will be presenting a free workshop at the Stamford City Hall on the square in Stamford on Tuesday, July 9 at 6:00pm. Everyone is invited.
The Grand Theatre will be showing “Toy Story” at 2:00pm on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6 to avoid conflicting with the Rodeo. Box Office will open at 1:00pm each day.
