CLOTHING NUMBER ONE PRIORITY Clothing continues to be the number one priority for 15-24s, with over three fifths (61%) having bought new clothes in the last three months and almost half (49%) planning to purchase new garments in the next three months.
APPEARANCE MOST IMPORTANT TO THOSE WHO LIVE WITH PARENTS Young adults who still live at home with their parents place a much greater priority on their appearance, while those who live in a house share or are renting or buying a property have other financial responsibilities to deal with and less money to spend on clothes.
HIGH RATE OF UNEMPLOYMENT High rates of youth unemployment are a substantial concern for clothing and footwear retailers in the UK, and continue to impact this age group’s spending power.
