Welcome | Fàilte On behalf of everyone at Caledonian MacBrayne, I would like to wish you a warm welcome on board our vessels. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a regular traveller to Scotland’s west coast, the islands and peninsulas to which we sail offer something for everyone. There is nowhere on earth can rival the staggering beauty and allure of Scotland’s West Coast, especially in the summer. We at CalMac are focused on delivering customer service to the highest standards possible and we were delighted when this was recognised by the Contact Centre Association (CCA) in 2019. Our Service Updates Team was crowned team of the year for the quality of their customer care. We beat off competition from major internationally recognised brands to pick up the prestigious UK Excellence Award. Everybody at CalMac is committed to excellence, continually developing our services and delivering a world class customer experience for all our passengers. So to both our regular passengers and visitors alike, we wish you an enjoyable crossing and hope your CalMac journey is every bit as memorable to you as your destination. Ro-Ro ships: stowing and securing of vehicles code of practice issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the requirements stated in CalMac’s Commercial Vehicles Conditions and Charges leaflet (available from any office). Customers should satisfy themselves that they comply with the code of practice in all respects. Vehicles travelling on services between Wemyss Bay/Rothesay, Largs/ Cumbrae Slip, Colintraive/Rhubodach and Tarbert/Portavadie are not required to comply with the code of practice (except when carrying dangerous goods or livestock - see relevant sections of the code). However, on these routes we strongly advise customers to comply with the Code of Practice and we reserve the right to decline shipment of vehicles without securing points in adverse weather. Vehicles travelling on all other routes will be refused shipment if they do not comply with this Code of Practice. MOTORCYCLES We recommend that you book in advance on reservable routes if travelling by motorcycle, as space may be limited. Motorcycles can only be positioned and secured or released on car decks by, or under the supervision of, CalMac staff. BICYCLES/KAYAKS/CANOES/SURFBOARDS These items are carried free of charge and will be stored on the car deck. Boarding will be via the car deck. Please follow the directions of the crew on where to store them. On some routes space is limited and it may not be possible to store all bicycles in an upright position. All cyclists, especially groups, are advised to get in touch with us on the day before travel to check availability of bicycle space. ROOF AND BICYCLE RACKS In some cases we may ask you to remove bicycles or other items from the roof rack of your vehicle, where there is a possibility of any of them striking the ship’s structure.
Check-in IMPORTANCE OF CHECK-IN TIMES All passengers must be in possession of a valid ticket at time of travel. Whether foot passengers or vehicle drivers, passengers who arrive later than the displayed check-in closure times cannot be guaranteed boarding. The check-in closure times are extremely important and failure to meet these times will result in your booking being recorded as a no-show and your vehicle space being reallocated. If there are vehicles waiting in the unbooked lane and you do not arrive for the displayed check-in closure time, the port staff will reallocate your space to a vehicle in the unbooked lane. You may also be required to pay for another reservation if you choose to rebook on a later sailing. PASSENGER COUNTING REGULATIONS Under the Merchant Shipping (Counting and Registration of Persons on Board Passenger Ships) Regulations 1999 under European Council Directive 98/41/EC and enforced by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, it is a requirement that details of the number of passengers and crew on board are recorded and reported before the ship leaves port. In order to comply with the regulations, and to ensure that sailings depart on time, the gangway will be removed and vehicle decks closed prior to sailing time, whilst this information is passed ashore and recorded. Vehicle drivers must comply with check-in times and passengers must be available for boarding prior to the advertised sailing time (see timetables). Late arrival or checking-in may lead to the passenger and/or vehicle being refused carriage. PASSENGER REGISTRATION Please note that regulations requiring the recording of passenger details (name, sex, date of birth) apply to the following routes in both directions: • Ardrossan - Campbeltown • Campbeltown - Brodick • Oban - Castlebay • Oban - Colonsay • Oban - Coll • Oban - Lochboisdale • Oban - Tiree • Coll - Tiree CalMac App: Available for iOS and Android 45

These cards will then be collected on boarding and, where applicable, the second (landing) part of the card should be retained for collection on disembarking.
