Sacramento's Summer Tradition Since 1951

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT A Tradition of Exc ellenc e. An Experience Like No Other. An Exceptional Value. I always considered my father a visionary, but when he started Music Circus in 1951, I don’t think even he realized it would become so iconic. It’s a tradition that’s near and dear to the hearts of tens of thousands of Northern Californians, and revered by the theatre community nationally. If you’ve attended a Music Circus show, I’m sure you agree that there really is no better way to experience musical theatre. One reason for that is our one-of-a-kind venue, the Wells Fargo Pavilion, in which the theatre-in-the-round configuration creates an intimate experience like no other. Every seat in the theatre is a good one, never more than 60 feet from the stage. Actors enter and exit from the same aisles you do, and the action takes place all around you, often just inches away. Music Circus is also unique because of the consistent quality of our productions. Each year we audition thousands of actors in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento. We assemble a team of top talent, onstage and off, from all over the country. And we produce the shows right here in Sacramento, for one week only, exclusively for Music Circus audiences. Because we’re a nonprofit, supported in part by donations from our patrons, we’ve been able to keep ticket prices at a level far below what you would expect for the quality of the productions on stage. You’re getting Broadway actors, creative teams and productions—in one of the most unique and intimate settings in the country—for as low as $35 a ticket. If you’re a season subscriber or regular patron, I hope you continue to enjoy the magic of Music Circus. And if you’ve never been to a Music Circus show, I hope you’ll join us this summer. I promise that you won’t be disappointed.

“Once y ou experience t h e atre -i n -th e rou nd y ou are spoil ed f o r l i f e! S o m et hi n g s p e ci al happens and y ou f eel a s i f yo u a re l i v ing the stor y y ou rse l f . ” 2

Sincerely, Richard Lewis, President & CEO

A CHO R U S L I N E JUNE 24 - 29 MUSIC Marvin Hamlisch LYRICS Edward Kleban BOOK James Kirkwood Jr. & Nicholas Dante A multiple Tony-winning singular sensation! This emotional behind-the-scenes look at the Broadway world is a celebration of what it means to be a professional dancer, fervently pursuing the passion to perform onstage, experiencing the triumph of dreams achieved and the tragedy of dreams unrealized. The New York Times calls it “heaven on Broadway. So fresh that you have to stop to catch your breath.” Featuring “What I Did For Love,” “I Hope I Get It,” and the showstopping “One.”

The assessments are subjective, so we encourage patrons to do their own research. As a courtesy to all patrons, children under 4 (including babes in arms) are not permitted in the theatre.
