Zego - Sustainability and Energy Efficiency A Case Study

The Challenge  Our client was a European Owner Builder who was dissatisfied

with the conventional building methods available in Australia.

 With an appreciation for reinforced concrete homes, our client

was seeking an alternative wall system that would also assist with the energy efficiency of the home whilst maintaining structural integrity.

 After considerable research of various alternative wall systems,

our client approached ZEGO Building Systems as their preferred Insulated Concrete Form work solution.

The Solution ď‚— ZEGO supplied the 200 Series domestic forms for external

walls to provide a 100mm concrete core and overall wall thickness of 190mm wide plus finishes.

ď‚— The 150 Series domestic forms were used for internal walls

providing an 80mm concrete core and overall thickness of 143mm wide plus finishes to save on internal floor space.

ď‚— The home was not in a bush fire prone area. Therefore,

the ZEGO Domestic Building system was the quickest and most cost effective solution for this residential home.

The Result ď‚— A highly energy efficient reinforced concrete home

with an R 3+ rating.

ď‚— Our client has also reported that their heating and

cooling costs were significantly reduced between 5080%, and during the height of winter and summer months, they were able to turn off systems throughout the day with the added confidence that the ZEGO Insulated Concrete walls would maintain the temperature constant throughout their home.
