QUOTE FROM THE WINNING COMMENTARY - JINCY MATTHEW
QUOTE FROM THE WINNING COMMENTARY - RAKESH PUJARI VISWANATH
The three cornerstones on which California University of Management & Studies was found are Values, Versatility & Technology. Each element of this philosophy resonates deeply with my persona & hence I am glad I joined it for my Masters. As of today, the world is experiencing immense rapid developments in the Tech world. It is the need of hour to provide students with world class expertise in Technology so that students can turn out to be invaluable assets to the corporate Tech Tsars.
Values define who we are and what we believe. After enrolling in CALUMS, I can proudly say that it had a huge role in nurturing my values. I was awestruck by seeing the efforts put by the professors and faculty to ensure that each student achieved what they aimed for. According to Mahatma Gandhi (n.d), “Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.”

VALENTINE’S DAY HOT CHOCOLATE ON CAMPUS Every year our campus is coming out with lovely, unique ideas to celebrate valentine's day. This year we decided to spread our love and affection to each and every staff member, faculty, and students who came to campus on February 14th with a cup of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows and whip cream. We decorated the campus lobby, reception area, hall ways and student lounge with beautiful red hearts and the entrance with a lovely wall art. In the student lounge, we made a board where students and staff can convey 'I Love You' in their own language, sharing CALUMS’ philosophy of “Togetherness with differences.” Some like it hot!! Here's a cup of cocoa To drink up as you may To help you take the chill off A beautiful valentine's day….. Sit back, relax and sip it slowly It comes with warmest wishes For love filled with cheer From all of us in CalUMS.

CAMPUS GUEST SPEAKER ON PHYSICAL THERAPY - DR. CALVIN CHENG Physical Therapy and went deep down into health care related topics like, ? What is a physical therapist ? How to apply for PT school ? Treatments associated with PT ? Where does a PT work ? PT certifications ? Why become a Physical Therapist ? Careers in healthcare On a final note, Dr Cheng is also a fascinating individual, expressing his practical experiences to the students, and we are grateful for his valuable speech and time at the CALUMS Guest Speaker session.
Our Guest speaker on campus for the winter quarter is known for his work in Healthcare Management. Dr Calvin Cheng, PT, DPT graduated from University of Portland and has a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Chapman University. Currently, he is working in St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California. It was a great evening for the students. They not only listened to his speech but also joined in discussion and clarified issues they had regarding careers in Healthcare. Many students who attended are studying Healthcare Management in school and Dr Cheng started his speech with a brief introduction to

MY JOURNEY AT CALUMS MOSAM RANA My name is Mosam Rana. I am a graduate of the Master's in Business Administration program of California University of Management & Sciences (CALUMS) and I can tell you, it has been quite the journey to this point. I heard about this university from one of my friends who had already enrolled in this school and I got hooked to this school because of the flexible course schedules and wide range of courses that I could choose from. My days as a student of CALUMS were generally a wonderful experience, both in terms of the vibrant diversity of the student life and the top shelf academics. I was exposed to a lot of practicable information, including different projects and researches. A personal favorite was the Marketing Project by Prof. Aileen Wilson-Aus, where we got to make custom hoodies with the school's logo and sell them by ourselves. It was such an interesting way to learn about marketing and profit making in an actual market. The project exposed us to different aspects of the process of commerce that we had only read in books before, like designing and creating products, dealing with factors in the supply chain, working with teams to come up with marketing strategies, the copyright and other legal aspects of business, all the way to actually selling the products to the final consumer. For my MS611 project, I started working part time as an intern in an electronics company called “Aluratek Inc”.
8
I served as a Business Analyst and got real world experience from it. I learned a lot of different subjects including statistics and marketing. It allowed me the opportunity to figure out my own path as a business person. Someone asked me recently what my plan was, now that I have graduated from school with a business degree, and my answer was simple – Grow. As a business person, I have learned that you cannot place too much importance on expertise and experience. This is why in any business organization I work for, all the way to when I start my own enterprise, I will keep learning, and keep growing. Today I can proudly say that I am more clear and confident about my career path. CalUMS was in no way perfect, but this school has played a role in bringing me to this level and I could not be more grateful.

BM352 AND BA501 CLASS EXCURSION TO DESERT MOON After studying the psychological principles behind the way customers spend, and the factors that govern spending, the teacher of the Winter 2018 quarter of BM352 and BA501, Ms. Aileen Wilson-Aus, took her students to the famed Arabic restaurant, Desert Moon in Southwestern Anaheim. The participants of this practical class session out in the field described the evening as one of the most innovative approaches to studying management that had been undertaken so far in the program. The session lasted for about three hours and involved students interacting with each other, with salespersons and other patrons of the establishment. After these, students had to share findings with the rest of the class and how these findings related with the students, being themselves from diverse cultural backgrounds. One student said about the class, "It was very insightful and really opened our eyes to what is really happening in the minds of customers before they decide to visit a particular business or to buy a particular product." Another student noted that the exercise was especially effective because it allowed for all the participants to work together not just as classmates and colleagues, but as friends and family.
10
By the end of the exercise, it was a widespread opinion that this do-it-together method of instruction was a very effective way to expose the students to the real world of marketing management and consumer psychology. Other professors will do well to follow the example.
BA531 CLASS EXCURSION TO FENDER CORPORATION Professor Baltazar's class Operations Planning and Control (BA531) organized a factory tour to 'FENDER' Musical Instruments Corporation in Corona in Winter quarter for the students to understand how a company put its efforts to make their work a success through operations, planning and control. It was a great opportunity for us, and throughout the visit Professor Baltazar explained almost everything he taught us in class.
guitar any way you like with pretty much any kind of wood you can find.
The history of this factory and story of Leo Fender is remarkable. What Leo Fender and his products did for the entire music industry is amazing. The tour was memorable and we got the chance to see the guitar making process and learn how the factory works in a practical way, which helped us understand what operations, planning and control Even if you are not a musician, you have to be is. fascinated with 'FENDER' and here we are sharing our experience with you. Let's go through our memory lane. Isn't it great and something special seeing a guitar tree right in front of you soon after you enter the visitor center? We received a very warm welcome from 'FENDER' and we were guided to a neat, clean and well organized factory which is simply a guitar heaven. Starting with the history of the guitar and the buildings, we moved to the area where the guitars were actually being made. They explained every step in great detail. They have other guitar manufacturers who use their building as well at the custom shop, which grabbed our special attention. It was amazing seeing special featured guitars where you can build a
