From Across the Ancient Waters is Michael Phillips latest historical novel, where romance and mystery unfold along the rugged Welsh coast. After being sent to his uncle’s estate, young Percy Drummond has no intention of letting the country atmosphere soften his rebellious ways. Then he meets a village girl, Gwyneth Barrie, and her friendship changes his life. When Percy later returns, his intriguing friend has grown into a young woman. Then Percy catches the eye of his beautiful cousin Florilyn….who has become Gwyneth’s friend. Will an unexpected request from Percy’s uncle change the future for all three? Truman Wiley used to report news stories around the world, but now the troubling headlines are his own. He is out of work and out of touch with his family, but nothing keeps him up at night more than his son’s failing heart. With mounting hospital bills, the situation seems hopeless…until his estranged wife throws him a lifeline…the chance to write the story of a death row inmate willing to donate his heart to Truman’s son. As the execution clock ticks, Truman uncovers disturbing evidence that points to a different killer. For his son to live, must an innocent man die? In Chris Fabry’s latest book, Not in the Heart, Truman’s investigation draws him down a path that will change his life, his family and the destinies of two men forever. She is a singer of sweet songs…and a sinner. A searcher for truth…and an outcast. Life is fraught with danger in the village of Sychar in first-century A.D. But for Abigail, the Samaritan woman, the danger lies not as much from the ever-present Roman soldiers but from the rabbi and the people of Sychar. Abigail is pregnant….and the father is not her elderly husband, Zakane. While protecting her lover’s name, believing he will spirit her away, Abigail is imprisoned, and then nearly stoned by her neighbors. Abigail longs for love and forgiveness for her anguished soul. The answer will come from the most unlikely of places. Twelfth Prophecy is the last book (#12) in the historical A.D. Chronicles Series by Bodie & Brock Thoene.

The Servant is an easy read about servant-style leadership. If you are a husband, wife, parent, single or a more traditional business leader you will benefit from understanding this unique style of leadership. You will be drawn in by the story of John Daily as he struggles with resolving his failures as a leader and his unique journey of finding real leadership answers. I highly recommend The Story from Zondervan. It is the Bible, in the NIV translation, put into chronological order. Throughout the book, there are short transition paragraphs which connect the stories. I love how this book allows the reader to understand the timeline of when events happened and how the Bible as a whole connects. However, the best part is that Zondervan has made a version of The Story for every age. My four-year-old boys have The Story For Little Ones which allows us to read and study the same stories from scripture at the same time. I highly recommend this series of books for your family too! My community group is even reading through it together.
Necessary Endings has helped me gain a better understanding and perspective of endings accepting them as part of life’s journey. Endings are often thought to be failures, but are actually part of a natural life cycle of ministry, business and life. It helps to view “Endings” as “Necessary” opportunities that can lead to something better. Regardless of what season of life one is in, it is a very applicable and helpful resource.
All the books mentioned are available in Calvary's Library. The Library is located across from Fellowship Hall on the lower level. The hours are Sunday, 9:15 - 11:15am; Wednesday, 9:15 - 9:45am; 6:00 - 7:30pm. April 2012 | calvarygr.org | 5
life{together} experiencing community at calvary
bringing home the message of community by Rob & Joanna Teigen
With the emphasis at church lately on community, I thought I would share how much our small groups have meant to us lately. We're in two small groups that meet in our home—one is made up of several couples and the other is a family-inclusive group. Recently, our daughter had a serious injury while sledding. She broke her femur and needed surgery and hospitalization. Our dear friends in our groups have been such a blessing. We've had overnight child care, a wonderful meal brought over, and a precious covering of prayer over our daughter. One friend even came to the hospital at midnight to deliver coffee and doughnuts while we waited for the surgery to begin. The kids in our family group each made cards and prayed for her. Even now, we know we could pick up the phone with any need or request and have friends ready to help. We are surrounded by real loving care beyond just friendly feelings. We can't imagine going through this scary experience by ourselves. God's love has flowed through our brothers and sisters in Christ. It makes the messages we've heard lately at church really hit home.
Discovery
When Pastor Tom Olsson spoke on maturing to be more like Jesus in February, he mentioned that one of the means to do this is by using our spiritual gifts in serving here at Calvary. God has designed you in a way that is totally unique from everyone else. That means that you have special gifts that ONLY YOU can give to serve God and others. We want to empower you to find the right fit in ministry. “From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (Ephesians 4:16). Discover your spiritual gifts and how you can use them at Calvary. Pick up a Discovery packet at one of the Information Centers on Sunday morning or contact Judie Fielstra (jfielstra@ calvarygr.org) at ext. 5095.

The Community Launch will be Sunday, May 6 at 4:00pm in Fellowship Hall to meet your new community group. Bring your calendar so you can determine the best day and time to meet. A light supper will be served. Sorry, no childcare. If you are unable to attend the Launch, you can still sign up and your group leader will contact you. Community groups are gatherings in homes for the purpose of growing spiritually and relationally. You will: ∙ Experience community with a small group of adults of various ages. ∙ Commit to meet at least 8 times (most groups meet every other week) ∙ Study God’s Word together (most groups do the sermon aligned questions) ∙ Fellowship together ∙ Care for one another ∙ Wish you had done it sooner. Experiencing life together in the special needs community Speak Encouragingly
“We came to the community group not knowing what to expect. The support and encouragement from listening to each other has kept us coming back. Praying for each other has deepened our friendships...We have had speakers come, who have shared information, but more importantly, they have pointed us to God’s Word and reminded us of His faithfulness regardless of circumstances.” This quote is from a parent, blessed with two daughters and a grandson with special needs, who is a member of our community group meeting on Wednesdays in room 215 from 6:45-8:00pm. It is not exclusive to those involved with the special needs community, but rather a warm mix of loving people who faithfully care and pray for one another. Stop by and experience the warmth this group has to offer.
Creativity
The Wednesday evening art workshop is a great place to express yourself and be creative in a setting that is social and fun. Glue, beads, scissors, paper, cardboard, chalk and much more are used to express feelings, joys, trials, and love. Whether you are interested in helping or joining the group please come at 6:00, room 114. It’s a great place to be creative!
All Kinds of Signs
We are not speaking miraculous signs here, unless you think you are too old to learn a new language! Sign Language 101 is run by two volunteer teachers who joined the group last fall as students with no indication what God had in store for them. When the teacher could not return for the second session of this class, God led them into becoming the next sign language leaders. Their enthusiasm is contagious as they teach anyone willing to learn the wonderful gift of sign language. They gather each week at 6:00pm in Room 211.
Joyful Noise
Is praising God really about the quality of noise that comes from our mouths, or is it the joyfulness in our hearts for God? In Psalm 119:11 it says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Hiding God’s word in your heart when you may not have the ability to read or sing well is the focus of the choir for those who have special needs. Each Wednesday at 6:00pm they meet in the Chapel to learn scripture in the format of song, praising

God joyfully. Come see what God is doing in this group of believers!
May you Grow
Sundays and Wednesdays are when adults with special needs are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God and each other. Moments of worship, praise, sharing and biblical teaching fill over an hour on Sundays at 11:15am and again on Wednesdays at 6:45pm. You immediately feel God’s presence in this group. It is a welcoming community whether you have a disability or not. At the close, everyone in the room holds hands and sings, My Friends May You Grow in Grace. “My friends may you grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior…to God be the glory!” Everyone leaves feeling encouraged and loved. Feel free to stop in and check out and feel what the Holy Spirit is doing among this group of believers.
Youngsters
Oh, to be young again! Revive that youthful feeling by checking out what is happening on Sundays at 11:15am in the Explorer class. This class is where youngsters with disabilities are fed God’s word through center-based learning. The families of these kids have overwhelming gratitude for those who share the blessing of their children. In need of a blessing? Consider serving in the Explorers!
Teenagers
Teenagers who enjoy one-on-one attention from adults, puzzles, drawing, music, videos, and learning from God’s word are the incredibly special group of teenagers in the Seekers class, a class of teens with a variety of abilities. There is much laughter and socializing in this group along with simple center-based learning. The volunteers that share their time in here are a real blessing as are the students to the volunteers. Feel free to come and see what God is doing in this group.
Dads and Moms
“Tim and I can't thank you enough for the dinner last Friday night. It was so good for our family, and we ate off the leftovers the entire weekend. We never get to do things like that. Thank you again!!” Dinners alone, without our kids with special needs, are one of those things that just does not happen often. Recently the Special Needs Ministry invited the parents to such a time. Their kids were cared for by energetic volunteers as the parents dined with the group and experienced a time of community with staff. Laughter, making new friends, and great food filled the evening. If you are in a community group, consider inviting a family who has “someone” in it with disabilities. Blessings will be both given and received.

reaching the nations right at our doorstep Volunteer Testimony from Monica Perry I had finally finished college, earning a B.A. in International Ministries from Moody Bible Institute. I was ready to conquer the world! I had plans for my life… plans to do ministry overseas, possibly teach English, help orphans, save women from trafficking, all in the name of Christ. I had so many plans, and never stopped to consider that God might have different plans for me. I was so busy mapping out my future serving God that I hadn’t stopped to pray about anything. I hadn’t asked God if going overseas as a missionary was what He wanted for my life. I tried and tried to move overseas but nothing was working out. I was discouraged and mad that God wanted me to stay in Grand Rapids and work as a nanny. How was I “reaching the nations” - something I knew God had called me to do - while I was working as a nanny and living at home? God had other plans for me. This past summer, while I was wallowing in my “dead end” nanny job, God gave me an opportunity to reach the nations. He brought Neighbors
International into my life. He had brought the nations to my doorstep and all I needed was to walk out and be willing to be used. Since joining Neighbors International, I have had the great privilege to spend time with individuals from Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Germany, and Vietnam. I didn’t need to travel to each of these countries to build relationships with these people and be the light of Christ to them – they were right here! Over the last several months, I have developed meaningful relationships with five Saudi Arabian women. I have eaten a lot of Arabic food, learned about Islam, heard the stories of arranged marriages and “dating” in Saudi Arabia, and seen a glimpse of five women’s lives from the opposite side of the world. As I look back on it, I realize I had some preconceived notions about Islam and Muslim women. I thought that many of them would be victims of abuse; I thought all of them would be very devout, and I was nervous that it would be hard to become friends with women so different than me. Boy was I wrong! I met women that were very similar to me. They were strong, determined women who love their families, brothers, fathers, and husbands - women in need of a Savior.
so deeply rooted in their religion that it takes a long time to share the whole gospel with them. Through my interactions, I have seen many in need of hope, more hope than Islam gives them. I have seen them desperate for a peace that passes all understanding and I hope someday God will open their eyes to see the light and give me a chance to spread seed on fertile ground. Since starting to volunteer with Neighbors International, I have gained a deeper understanding of evangelism and discipleship to Muslims. I have learned a lot about Islam and how it looks in everyday people - a deep-rooted religion that is taking blind people to the grave without the one true Savior. I have been deeply impacted by my relationships with these women and look forward to continuing our friendship. God has used this ministry to use me in ways I never expected, and He has shown His sovereignty through five Muslim women for whom I pray every day. If you are interested in having an impact on international students, consider getting involved with Neighbors International; please contact Sonja at neighbors_international@calvarygr.org.
I have had numerous conversations with these women about Isa al Masih - God’s only Son who gave His life so we could live. Many of them are

Saturday, April 28, 8:00am-4:00pm
Where? We have the use of a 100,000+ square foot warehouse on the southwest side of Grand Rapids to make this a truly community-building event for Calvary Church. Why? James Gang
picture reminder JamesGang.calvarygr.com
• Remember that on May 9, at 7:50pm in the Fellowship Hall, we will be taking our group photo of all children who have participated in the “James Gang.” This photo will be on a “Wanted” poster, and will stay in our Elementary hallway for years to come – and each child will receive a personalized certificate. Ice cream treats will also be available for everyone! • It’s still not too late to join! To be in the picture, you must: memorize James chapter 3 and complete 5 serving opportunities. Available to all ages!
• Projects should be reported by using a form from the Children’s Ministry office, or online at JamesGang.calvarygr.com. Completing serving projects is as simple as helping children interpret things they do for other people (shovel snow, share a lunch, Operation Christmas shoebox ministry, etc.) as “putting faith into action!” as the book of James describes. • Memorization is on the honor system. Parents, if you say your child has memorized to your satisfaction, ‘nuff said! • Questions? Contact Joel Shank, jshank@calvarygr.org, 956-5067.

2012 Manasseh Project As we prepare for Easter, we think about Jesus’ sacrifice for us, which should stir our hearts toward gratitude. During these weeks, perhaps you might consider putting aside some money that could be used toward a special offering that will be taken during the Good Friday service. The offering will be used to help with the Manasseh Project, a shelter and recovery center for children who are victims of sex trafficking in West Michigan, operated by Wedgwood Christian Services. For more information on this project, visit calvarygr. org/manassehproject.
Palm Sunday
Maundy Thursday
services at 8:10, 9:40 and 11:15am
service at 7:00pm No Childcare
On Palm Sunday, we celebrate the Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before His death and resurrection. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week. The Bible tells us that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted Him with waving palm branches, and by covering His path with palm branches. Immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, He begins His journey to the cross.
Traditionally the Christian Church has referred to this day as Maundy Thursday, from the Latin word “mandatum.” The term is usually translated “commandment,” from John’s account of this night. According to the book of John, as Jesus and the disciples were eating their final meal together before His arrest, He washed the disciples’ feet to illustrate humility and servanthood.
Sunday, April 1
The Bible passages of Palm Sunday can be found in Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:111, Luke 19:28-44 and John 12:12-19.
Musical: One Lord, One Faith Sunday, April 1, 6:00pm

Thursday, April 5
During the Passover (Lord’s Supper), Jesus took bread and wine and asked His Father to bless it. He broke the bread, giving it to His disciples saying, “This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” Then He took the cup of wine and said, “This wine is the token of God’s new covenant to save you−an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you.” During our Maundy Thursday service, you will see people washing the feet of others to demonstrate humility and servanthood. We will also partake in the Lord’s Supper just like Jesus did on the night He was betrayed. The Bible passages of Maundy Thursday can be found in Matthew 26:17-30, Mark 14:12-26, Luke 22:7-38, John 13:1-17, and I Corinthians 11:23-25.

Good Friday Friday, April 6
service at 7:00pm No Childcare Good Friday is the day Christ died on the cross, the Friday before Easter. As the most somber day in the Christian calendar, it is a day for prayer, repentance, and meditation on the agony and suffering of Christ on the cross. Since Christ’s death on the cross is central to the Christian faith, the events of that day should be ever on our minds. We celebrate Good Friday with a subdued evening service, remembering the night of Christ’s death. The Bible passages for Good Friday can be found in Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, and John 19.

services at 7:00*, 8:10*, 9:40 and 11:15am From the earliest days of the church, Easter has been celebrated by all Christians everywhere. As the most important day in the Christian calendar, Easter Sunday is the day that we celebrate the bodily Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our fortyday preparation and Holy Week will better prepare our hearts to celebrate the power and joy of Christ’s resurrection on Easter. The Bible passages for Easter can be found in Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, and John 20. *If you are able, we encourage you to attend the earlier services in order to make room for visitors in the later services. Nursery will be provided for birth through 35 months except during the 7:00am service. No children’s Sunday School or adult classes will meet on Easter Sunday. Join your Calvary family to celebrate the resurrection with a light breakfast in the Gym, served from 7:30 to 10:15am.

Spring
Severe Weather Awareness Week The week of April 15 has been designated as our spring severe weather awareness week.
In the case of severe weather, event closings will be announced on Calvary’s website, WCSG (91.3), TV8 and TV13. If a weather watch develops during an event, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) will monitor the situation. If a weather warning occurs during an event, a public address notification will signal all to seek shelter in designated rooms on the lower level.
Fire
If the fire alarm sounds, please exit the building in a calm, orderly manner. The Emergency Response Team (ERT) will notify you when it is safe to re-enter the building.
Medical
All medical situations need to be reported to the Emergency Response Team (ERT). There are Help Phones and Emergency Call Boxes throughout the facility. The team is equipped to help those not feeling well or injured and, if needed, to assist until professional help arrives.
Security
All suspicious acts need to be reported to the Emergency Response Team (ERT). There are Help Phones and Emergency Call Boxes throughout the facility.
Here at Calvary we have a volunteer Emergency Response Team of professionals who assist the staff with medical, security, fire and other emergency situations. Those on the active team volunteer about one time per month during church services or major church functions. Even though we are all one team, we do have two distinct areas of service: medical and security. These individuals carry a radio and facility keys while working with the staff to provide a safe, distraction-free environment. There are also those who have professional skills in one of the emergency fields that have not become active but may step in during an emergency situation. If you have training in the emergency medical, fire or law enforcement professions, we would like to be able to communicate updates to you. Please send your name and training / occupation to Ken Meines (kmeines@calvarygr.org), Director of Facilities.

tech tips
Introducing MyCalvary a new way to connect with Calvary Church Without much fanfare, Calvary Church updated its internal database last fall with the promise of making new online tools available to our congregation in the future. The first of these will be launched later this month. There are several functions available right away, and more to come. For now, when you are logged in to the site, you will be able to: • find an open community group • give to the church or support short-term missions • view your giving history • register for upcoming events (and pay registration fees if necessary) Over time, more tools will be added, and MyCalvary will be integrated into our regular website.
Super! How do I log in?
If you are in our database (if you give to the church or receive mail and/or email from us, that means you are), you will be sent a couple of emails in mid-April with information about our new MyCalvary site and a login with which you will be able to access it. Be watching your email mid-April for your MyCalvary login information. We’ll put an announcement in the bulletin when they are sent to remind you.
If you don’t receive a login email, you may not be in our database, or we may not have a working email address for you. You are always encouraged to send updated information to database@calvarygr.org. This would be a good time to do it! If you need login information or have other problems, contact mycalvary@calvarygr.org and we’ll help get you started.

a note from the elders Respectfully Submitted by Ron Haas, Elder Clerk Jim Samra’s Sixth Anniversary March marked Jim’s sixth year as our senior pastor. Anniversaries are a good time to reflect on what’s been accomplished and evaluate where God is leading us in the future. Paul summarized his ministry goals this way, “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me” Colossians 1:28-29. Paul’s focus was on evangelism and discipleship so that one day he could present a mature bride to Christ. As elders, our priorities for Calvary are the same. We want everything we do as a church to produce mature believers. The elders are thankful for all the ways Jim and Lisa serve the Lord at Calvary Church. We are so blessed to have them. Church Planting The elders have been thinking and praying about how God wants us to pursue church planting. We believe that the most effective strategy for evangelism and discipleship is to plant local churches where new believers can grow in their faith through community. God is blessing our two recent church plants, New City and Take Hold. New City Church God is using J.T. Richards and New City Church to reach the near north side of Grand Rapids for Christ. About 90 people attend on Sunday and several are involved in small City Groups throughout the week. New City has several wonderful testimonies of people in difficult situations who have found Christ and are growing in their relationship with him. In 2011, ten individuals followed the Lord in believer’s baptism, with more scheduled for this Easter. With one exception, each of these believers is younger than 30 years old. New City has caught a vision for sharing the good news of Jesus and continues to see God change lives in Grand Rapids. J.T. will joyfully stand before the Lord one day and present mature believers to Jesus. If you would like to visit a worship service at New City Church, they meet Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at Palmer School, 309 Palmer St NE in Grand Rapids. They would love to have you! To learn more about the great things God is doing at New City, visit their website, newcitychurch.org. Take Hold Church Shane Cox leads Take Hold Church and is reaching the Heartside neighborhood of Grand Rapids with the Gospel. The testimonies of changed lives are amazing. Several have experienced incredible challenges in life, but are finding hope in Jesus Christ. Take Hold is outgrowing their small storefront space which seats about 50 20 | April 2012 | calvarygr.org
comfortably. They now need two services to make room for the 80-100 who are attending worship services regularly. Recently, several elders and deacons from Calvary toured Take Hold’s facilities to start thinking and praying about new possible places for them to worship. Shane and Heather would love to have you join them in prayer as they seek God’s wisdom to know how to solve their space problems. If you would like to take a look for yourself, Take Hold meets Sunday nights at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm at 222 S. Division Ave. in Grand Rapids. To learn more about Take Hold Church, visit takeholdchurch.org. Bible Versions Calvary Church uses the New International Version of the Bible published in 1984. Last year, Zondervan released the NIV 2011 version, and discontinued the 1984 version. Anyone purchasing a new Bible will be confused when their copy doesn’t exactly match what is read from the pulpit. The elders are forming a Bible version committee to research whether Calvary Church should switch to the NIV 2011, or consider the English Standard Version (ESV). The committee will take several months to examine both options and bring back recommendations to the elders who will make a final decision sometime next year. Building Plans Two years ago the elders and deacons started praying and fasting weekly to ask God for wisdom to solve our space needs problems. We engaged Doug Pasma, an architect from The Pasma Group, to help us understand what options would make better use of our current space, and what additional space we may need. We look forward to sharing his preliminary drawings with the congregation. We are still in the investigation stage of this process; no timelines have been established. We are walking by faith one step at a time and anticipate it will take several more months. Once we understand what we could do, as a church we will need to ask God to show us what he wants us to do. The congregation will have an opportunity for input, and eventually will make the final decision. Nehemiah Prayer Team In January, we formed The Nehemiah Prayer Team to encourage members of our congregation to join the elders and deacons in praying for God’s direction. So far 185 people have joined the team and receive a weekly update encouraging them to pray and fast. This is not an empty exercise; we are honestly seeking God’s face. We might come to the conclusion that the Lord isn’t leading us to make any changes. Perhaps we might take the plan in phases, or we might take a bigger step. That’s

why it’s so important that we pray for God’s wisdom. If you would like join the Nehemiah Prayer Team, please email smerrill@calvarygr.org. Prayer Garden Last Easter, God led Calvary Church to receive a special offering in the spirit of Mary’s extravagant gift of John 12. God moved in our midst in an incredible way. After we received the offering, the elders sought God’s wisdom and felt him leading us to create a permanent Prayer Garden. The elders want to express special thanks to Warren DeHaan and the Prayer Garden team who have been meeting and praying about the location and design. The team envisions an outside space connected to a room that could be used for corporate and individual prayer. Last year’s temporary prayer garden during Holy Week created an atmosphere where you could be in a room with several people, but still feel like you were by yourself. The room should stimulate focused prayer so that when you walk in, you feel something special, maybe in something you see, touch, smell, or hear. Please pray for God’s wisdom for the Prayer Garden Team as they meet with Doug Pasma to design this special space.

Communication The elders, deacons, and pastoral staff met recently to talk about ways to improve communication with the congregation and with each other. In a large church, there are lots of messages to share and we understand the importance of clearly communicating with one another. If you have a question, comment, or idea please feel free to email one of the elders. We appreciate your feedback and will do our best to respond. Pray with the Elders The elders meet for prayer from 6:15-7:15pm on the first Tuesday of each month, in Room 211. If you would like the elders to pray for you or would simply like to join them in prayer, please stop by. We have experienced some incredible times of prayer in the past few weeks. Several who are struggling with illness, job loss, and numerous other trials have come for prayer. Recently, an entire adult congregation came requesting prayer because they are facing several burdens as a class. For those who are facing health concerns, the elders are available to anoint you with oil and pray for you (James 5:13-16). We can schedule a time to meet at church between services, or we are happy to travel to your home or hospital room. If you would like to schedule prayer with the elders, please email Cindy at cmarrell@calvarygr.org. New Members We are so blessed to welcome 13 new members since January. It is so exciting to see God working in people’s lives. We count it a privilege to have a part in helping these believers grow in their faith. If you have been thinking about joining Calvary, the next membership class will be offered on Saturday, May 5, from 9:00am-2:30pm in room 108. You can sign up online at calvarygr.org, or contact Brenda at 956-9377, ext. 5650 by April 30.

If you are willing to fast and pray with the elders, please email Sarah Merrill (smerrill@calvarygr.org), and we will add you to a regular prayer update. Children’s Ministry Serving Opportunities
Now is the time to sign up to serve at CSI 2012! If you have been part of the CSI team in the past, you know what a blast it is, and the impact it can have on kids for eternity. If you have never volunteered for CSI, why not consider it this year? CSI is June 12-14, 9:00am-12:00pm. Please register yourself to serve at calvarygr. org. If you have any questions contact Zoe (csi@ calvarygr.org) at 822-8896. One of the greatest behind the scenes ministry is the church nursery. Where else can you go to show love to someone else and receive so much more love in return? Currently we average 120 children in our nursery ministry. That means we need 50 helpers to rock an infant, read a story, or play with a toddler. Will you prayerfully consider joining this team that is almost invisible, but so highly rewarding? Please contact Heidi Storms (hstorms@calvarygr.org) at ext. 5161 to learn more. Giving opportunities Lynnell | lbok@calvarygr.org | ext. 3510 Clothes Closet As we enter into a new season please help us celebrate spring by donating clothes to our Clothes Closet. We are looking for the following items: light-weight jackets, short-sleeve shirts, cotton sweaters and dresses for women and girls; shirts as well as casual and work pants for men and boys. Your donations are greatly appreciated. All items listed can be dropped off at the Yellow House, located behind Calvary on Bradford Street.

Community is a place where you belong; a place where you develop relationships with other Christians and do life together. When you experience true community, you have close friends who meet together, pray together, grow together in God’s Word, and care for one another. In community you will be loved; you will be valued; you will be transformed more into Christ’s image. If you realize it is time to engage with people in a new way and want to be a part of a community group, visit the Connection Point on Sunday mornings or sign up at calvarygr.org.
