life{together} experiencing community at calvary

following god into the uncomfortable By Leta VanKlompenberg

A couple of years ago I saw a notice in the bulletin about the need for community group leaders. When I saw the notice, I began to do what I usually do... I considered the need and started to think about who would be a good fit. Almost as soon as I started along this line of thought, I felt God prompting me unexpectedly to step up to the role myself. I say it was unexpected because I am nothing like the picture that had come to my mind when considering the need. My picture was of an extroverted, outgoing person who is comfortable around anyone and loves to talk. That is not me. I am much more comfortable listening rather than talking, in solitude rather than in groups, being a wallflower rather than a social butterfly, and following rather than leading. I questioned whether God could really be prompting me to step into a role for which I felt so ill-suited, but the feeling was persistent and ongoing. It became clear to me that I was considering the question in terms of personality type and preferences, but the real question was whether I was going to obey or to disobey. With the question stripped down to its essence, there did not seem to be anything left to debate, so I committed to being a community group leader. In the two years that have passed since then, one thing has not changed. I still feel as though I am naturally one of the people least-suited for the I still feel as though I am task of being a comnaturally one of the people munity group leadleast-suited for the task of being er. I have had times a community group leader... but when it has made me I have not regretted the choice. feel uncomfortable, uncertain, and completely inadequate, but I have not regretted the choice. The blessings far outweigh the difficulties. First, I am so grateful for each person this has brought into my life. I experienced a lot of anxiety about being placed with a group of people who I had never met before, but

each one who has been a part of the group, whether for the short-term or the long-term, has made a unique contribution to what we have become. Second, there is something special and beautiful about people coming together to share their lives based simply on our If it were not for this comcommon faith in God munity group, we may not and association with Calvary Church. My group is have ever met, but I cannot made up of people with imagine where my life would different backgrounds and be now without them. in different life stages. If it were not for this community group, we may not have ever met, but I cannot imagine where my life would be now without them. Third, it is a privilege to be able to share life together with a group of believers. Through community, we are given the opportunity to support and pray for those who are going through difficulties and to rejoice with those who are experiencing blessing. In either instance, it is an extraordinary experience to join with other believers before the throne of God. Fourth, my group has been a continual source of encouragement for me. Even when I have arrived for our meetings feeling beat up or discouraged, I have left feeling refreshed and uplifted. Without fail, someone has always offered a testimony of how God has worked or is working in their lives which reminds me of His goodness and love. Finally, there is blessing even in feeling like I am in over my head. The times that I have felt uncomfortable, uncertain, or inadequate have put me in a place of greater dependence upon God. God never feels more real and tangible than when I know of nothing else to do than to get on my knees and plead with Him to intercede. All of this has made me so thankful that God prompted me to become a community group leader and that I chose to obey his prompting.

By Elleen Fitzgerald Isolation and loneliness are prevailing in our society. Weekly, on the news there are tragic reports of individuals suffering the consequences of isolation and loneliness. They are often accompanied by anxiety and depression. Isolation and loneliness are perceived to be a choice made by an individual. That is not necessarily the case. Societal pressures play a great part in this. Many individuals with special needs, and their families, who attend Calvary, are challenged daily by loneliness and isolation. They question numerous scenarios: how does their loved one fit in? Where do they themselves fit in? Who will watch my loved one so I can get involved? Who can I trust with my loved one? May they come with me if I get involved? What if behaviors or social skills are not accepted? What if I cannot find a ride? What if my child or adult with special needs is not accepted? These are all valid concerns and each of them contribute to the concern of isolation and loneliness. So what’s missing? How can I come alongside of a family or individual dealing with a special need? How can I help an individual with special needs to feel accepted and part of the family of God? The theme of the Special Needs ministry this year is Never Alone, and the scripture we are drawing strength from is Deuteronomy 31:8. It says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Acceptance and a sense of belonging is what everyone desires. Let’s work together, drawing strength from God, to accept those whom He has created in a unique way and bridge that gap of isolation and loneliness. Through our teachings about Never Alone, those with special needs will learn to equip themselves with strength and courage, knowing that their God will never leave or forsake them. He has told us how to do it... now we must act. If you want to learn more about the Special Needs Ministry here at Calvary, please contact Judi (jwarner@calvarygr.org) at ext. 5272.

serving

using your gifts at calvary

Finding A Desire to Serve in an Unexcepted Place By Pam Forsma

My desire to serve in the children’s area on Tuesday mornings came unexpectedly. During one of our leader’s training meetings we discussed spiritual gifts. That morning as I was walking into church I had asked God’s direction for the area He wanted me to serve. I wanted to be open to His call, not relying on preconceived ideas of my own. As I finished my “test,” I found shepherding to be one of the strongest gifts. When Judie Fielstra addressed our group on the topic of shepherding she said, “Actually, children are some of the most important in this area.” It was at that moment I felt an overwhelming heart for the children whose mothers are part of the Women’s Gathering Place Study. This was not even on my radar screen! I have not worked in Children’s for years and have 13 grandchildren to bless!

God began then to put ideas and direction alongside the desire He had placed in me to shepherd these children. My own testimony includes the fact that I took Jesus into my heart in a preschool classroom in church. I did not know this area had been such an area of need for the planning committee. I do know my willingness to serve began with my desire to obey and be open in this process. For two years I have been coordinating GPS Kids, our free children’s program, designed to teach the children right along with their moms and even grandmothers who bring them to Tuesday morning Bible study. I am more convinced than ever that this is an incredible ministry to the women and children who attend! We are looking for additional women who are willing to serve the children in GPS Kids on Tuesday mornings. If you are interested in this opportunity, contact Pam Formsma (pmformsma@gmail.com).

Middle School leaders needed

Middle School Ministries needs volunteers to help lead small groups for their Wednesday night programs for both 5th/6th and 7th/8th grades. If you’re able to be consistent, humble and real for some awesome middle schoolers, then you will do great in this ministry. When one leader was asked about their experience, here’s what they had to say:

Honestly, I signed up to be a middle school leader because all my friends were doing it. This is not always the best reason to do anything, but this time around it worked out pretty well for me. I was matched up with a group of seventh grade girls who welcomed me in with an enthusiasm that is hard to find in a room full of adults. They have helped me learn how to be a leader, walking that fine line between friend and mentor. When we gather on Wednesday nights, we are often equally moved by the lesson of the evening. God has graciously used my time with this small group to inspire my own faith in ways I did not expect. Calvary is blessed to have an amazing staff that loves students to death and tirelessly believes they can have a God-glorifying impact on the world around them. I can’t encourage you more strongly to get involved in this ministry. Interested? Contact Byron Dickey for 7th/8th grade (bdickey@calvarygr.org ) or to serve in 5th/6th grade, contact Lee Bergakker (lbergakker@calvarygr.org).

SUPER HEROES ever yone is called to be a hero We need MORE heroes!

Volunteering with Special Needs adults = greater blessings received than given! GoGetters ROCK!

Join us in the Calvary Café, Sunday, Sept. 22, 9:00am-12:30pm, to find your place to be heroic.

One of the joys of serving is I get to meet so many others who are serving faithfully. It is a great encouragement and blessing to serve alongside others who, week after week, humbly serve.

Leading middle school students is an amazing opportunity where I can impact others for Jesus and also see the effects on their lives. Serving in the music ministry at Calvary is a highlight in my life! I am called to the ministry of worship and am thrilled to use my gifts to edify the body of Christ. It is an honor to serve here!

I love being a friend to the kindergarten kids and fifth graders I work with each week!”

I have had the privilege of serving God in several ministries at Calvary. It is exciting to watch how He works within each of those areas!

Whether you’re looking for a place to get connected or a ministry to serve in, this event is for you!

The impact of technology on adolescent development

Join the Legacy Builders Adult Sunday Class for this seminar with David MacRae, PhD October 6 and 13 | 9:40am | Room 112 During this seminar, we will look at technology and adolescent development from the perspective of spiritual warfare and the battle for the mind! David MacRae is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has spent 35 years working with children and adolescents and parents in both inpatient and outpatient therapy. This presentation will make use of recent research in the fields of neurological development, focusing on the long term negative impact of certain media and technological influence.

TUESDAY Evening Calvary’s Women’s Ministry will offer three different 8-week studies over the course of Tuesday evenings this program year. The first session will be October 8, with Breaking Free From Fear. All studies are inductive, no homework Bible studies by Precept Ministries. Each session is designed for women whose schedules don’t allow them to attend our Tuesday morning Gathering Place Study and still want to dig into God’s Word with other women.

Please be aware, this presentation will not mince words or be a casual venue of information. This presentation highlights recent statistics on technology usage, with visual examples of benefits and concerns for media including Facebook, YouTube, Call of Duty, Dead Island, etc. Styles of addictive behaviors are discussed, along with examples of online gaming, pornography and social networking.

The cost for each study is $10 and you will receive your book the first night. Breaking Free from Fear runs from October 8 – November 26.

Parents, who are looking for guidance and direction, will be given examples of what their adolescents are being exposed to, with suggestions on how to take a proactive stance. There will be reasonable time for discussion and questions. We do not recommend children be present and ask for your help in this regard. For more information, contact Natalie Uecker (calvarystudents@calvarygr.org) at ext. 5181.

If you are a working woman or unavailable during the day, you have been on my heart! After Calvary’s last demographic survey, I realized 50% of women are not available for our daytime Bible studies and activities. In response to that reality, “Fill My Cup” and the Tuesday evening women’s studies were born. I hope you will join us and begin to experience the community of women at Calvary! - Susan Sorensen, Women’s Ministry Pastoral Staff

A Note from the elders Annual Meeting: The elders invite you to attend the Annual Meeting of Calvary Church on September 15 at 6:00pm. It will be a time of thanking God for His many blessings and seeking His will for the future of Calvary’s ministry. New elders and deacons will be selected and outgoing elders and deacons thanked for their three years of service. You will have an opportunity to learn some of the goals and plans for the coming year. We’ll explain the next steps for the “What We Believe” and “What We Teach” curricula, share briefly where God has led us so far in addressing the challenges of many people in a limited space, and you’ll get to hear what we fondly refer to as Pastor Jim’s “State Of The Church Address.” Jim will have a short question and answer session as well. Please plan to join us. What We Believe/Teach: This past June we asked

for feedback on the What We Believe and What We Teach documents that were created to help strengthen our doctrinal understandings as a church. The elders are reviewing the dozen or so responses that have been submitted and we will be discussing any potential changes that should be made to those documents. When finalized, the documents will be made available to the congregation and will be used as a teaching curriculum at Calvary.

will be replaced this fall by the NIV 2011. Our former pew Bibles were the 1984 New International Version (NIV) and that translation is no longer being made available for purchase. Because of this, the elders commissioned a Bible Translation Committee last year. After much diligent study and prayer, the committee made a recommendation to the elders, who then spent more time in discussion and prayer. Though many versions of the Bible are excellent and a variety of translations make good study tools, it makes sense to use one common version in the pews for ease of use and consistency during services. The NIV 2011 has its strengths and weaknesses, as does any version that attempts to translate the original text. But due to its similarity with the 1984 NIV, it is expected that the transition to the NIV 2011 will be a smooth one.

Come participate in this important meeting as we rejoice in how the Lord has blessed Calvary Church this past church year, select new elders and deacons, and discuss our vision for the future. All Calvary attendees are encouraged to attend, however, only members may vote. Childcare will be provided (birth through age five). If you consider Calvary to be your home church, this meeting is for you. Join us! The Nomination Process for elders & Deacons Several months prior to the annual congregational meeting, the Elders appoint a nominating committee. The committee requests from the congregation at large, the pastoral staff and the current Elders and Deacons, names of potential candidates for the office of Elder or Deacon. (For a specific list of the qualififcations of an Elder or Deacon see page six in the Calvary Church Constitution, available at calvarygr.org.) Once the process of gathering potential candidates has ended, the Nominating Committee prays over and reviews the names submitted over a process of several weeks. They then submit the names of qualifying candidates to the Elders, who also spend time praying over the list. Once they are in agreement as to the candidates that should be on this year’s slate of nominees, each candidate is contacted to see if they are willing to be considered. The slate of nominees is printed in the church bulletin prior to the meeting, and attendees are asked to contact any elder should they have serious objections to a nominee. At the annual meeting, the congregation is asked to approve each candidate by secret ballot. Once the ballots have been cast and tabulated, the Clerk and at least one Elder places stones corresponding to each approved nominee in two containers (one for Elder and one for Deacon candidates) that allow for suitable randomization. A congregational member selected by the Chairman will draw out of each container the number of stones corresponding to the number of open positions. The people whose names correspond to the stones chosen will become the newly selected Elders and Deacons.

neighbors international Student Testimony: Dai Phan Today is my 21st birthday, and here I am writing my testimony. I do not know where I should start. Like I always do when I am confused about things, I just pray. Yes, I did pray just now. It is just so incredible how God came into my life and just lights it up, day by day. He always listens to me and this relationship with God makes me a better person- absolutely! I was born in Vietnam where I grew up as an atheist. Even though our culture has some religion, my family was not extremely into that. Personally, I had not given serious thought about religion. During my life, I’ve gone through so many hard things, I did not have time to think about anything else. I used to reach the point where I felt no interest in life. There was no one I could talk to and no one understood me. I had no one to rely on. However, I always felt like there was something that told me I had to hang on and keep up in life. And now I believe it was God. He was calling me and gave me hope and strength during that tough time. I used to think that I just had to be good and as long as I did not harm anyone, I was perfectly fine as an individual. I didn’t know the truth of happiness ... until I finally met Christ through some Christian friends who were like a bridge for me getting to know Him. Then I shared my life and confessed my sins to Christ who I knew would be so perfect and wonderful enough to forgive and give me peace. He came into my life before I even realized it. It was not easy

to set aside my behavior, my culture, and the point of view that I carried since I was born. But He changed it all! The way He let me know Him and He accepts me. The way He gives me His love spiritually, and the amazing people who care about me. It is just wonderful how He makes me realize things that I’d never understood before. He makes my life happy without any clear reason. My days start as before, but now I put a smile on my face, open the window, look up to the sky and say this sentence that I’d never thought I would ever say: “Thank God, it’s a beautiful day.” I still chase some of my life goals because I don’t want to be a lazy person. However, I’m not getting insanely upset if things do not happen the way I expect. Because I know even if I fail in this life and lose everything, I still have Him. I do not really know how to express that kind of feeling, because He does it differently and very personally. I just feel really good about my “new” life. I love the thing that no matter how hard life is or how lonely I sometimes feel, I know there will always be that One who listens to me and shares that depression with me. It’s God. I feel great to turn my way, which is very confusing and unstable, into His way. I try to be good in His way to be with Him eventually. I know He will bless me as He does to every one of us. You just have to accept the call and put your faith in Him. There is always hope and one day, we will be with Him. No more pain, just happiness.

Friendship Family Testimony: Jim & Tammy Stortz A couple of months ago Tammy and I were hosting a gathering of international college students after church. There were approximately nine students from all over the world hanging out, relaxed and having fun. Having just eaten, all the students but one headed downstairs for a few games of ping pong. Dai, a student from Vietnam, had been our Neighbors International student since the fall. We had many great times with him, and he had become a regular attendee of church. He was becoming a part of the family and that Sunday was one we will never forget. With all the others downstairs, Tammy and I found ourselves in the living room with Dai. I was showing him a Bible app for his phone and was reading through the verses of the Romans Road. As I was reading through Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved,” Dai said “I just did that a couple nights ago.” I said “what?” Tammy who was standing next to us fell backwards onto the couch as if his words had knocked her down. He said “Yes, I have been praying to God and told him that I believe in Him.” I was in awe...we had only met Dai a few months prior and here he was, a 20-year-old Vietnamese atheist, from a Buddhist family, proclaiming Jesus as his Lord and Savior! I said, almost in disbelief, “Hold on, let me read this again, are you sure you understand this?” He did. We were so thrilled! We hugged him, laughed and cried. We told him that when he was ready that he should tell his friends what happened. It’s moments like these that give us such an amazing connection to and reverence for God. It also reaffirms our calling to be a part of Neighbors International ministry. God is moving in the hearts of these kids from Vietnam, Thailand, China, The Congo, Saudi Arabia, and many others. We are so blessed to have a role, as little as it is, in God’s harvest. Through the Neighbors International Fall Banquet, we were connected with three students. We started spending time with them, sharing meals and time in our home. And as we invited them to church, the three students grew to four, then six and up to twelve at one point! We started driving two cars to pick them up every Sunday.

Finally we purchased a new, bigger vehicle so we could all ride together. However, as God blessed us with more students, from Brazil to Turkey, we again had to drive two vehicles. But what a blessing! Here were students from around the globe at Calvary, Sunday after Sunday, practically filling an entire row! We love these kids. Tammy loves how they all blow her mind every Friday night when she sends a “mass inbox” through Facebook and they all respond with a resounding “yes” and funny Facebook stickers. We love that we don’t mind leaving “way” early to pick the students up so we will not be late for church. We love how they are “usually” always ready on time. We love how they all sit in “the row” and truly listen to the sermon. And how God helps them to understand. We love how sometimes after church we go get a bite to eat. Krispy Kreme! We love how when we drop each one individually off, we both get out of the car and give each one a “huge hug.” That’s Tammy’s favorite thing to do. We really love how when we have a get together at our house that all of the kids seem so relaxed and welcome and when it is time to leave the party, they don’t want to leave. We love how they share their personal lives and struggles with us and ask for help. What we love the most is that God placed these kids from all around the globe into our lives. They have enriched our lives immensely. By spending time with them, sharing our lives, home, faith in Christ and resources with them, we have claimed them as family. Matthew 9:37,38 says “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” This is our prayer too. We urge all who read this to prayerfully consider being a part of Neighbors International and God’s harvest. New students are arriving now. To get more information on how you can be a friendship family or partner with Neighbors International, contact Sonja at Neighbors_international@ calvarygr.org or call 616-868-6826.

join the calvary crew

working together to show Christ’s love in both word and deed Here at Calvary Church we have many individuals who are making a difference volunteering in the Grand Rapids area. Now, we have an opportunity to join together for even bigger impact…. Join the “Calvary Crew” for our first big event – the 10th Anniversary Mayors’ Grand River Clean Up on Saturday, September 14. Over the past 10 years, the mayors of Grand Rapids, Walker, Grandville and Wyoming have banded together to mobilize thousands of volunteers to pick up the refuse that accumulates along the banks of the river.

This year, we are happy to be one of several sponsors (non-profit, forprofit, secular and faith-based) to come together for this community project. Join us as we stand shoulderto-shoulder with our neighbors as a tangible expression of Christ’s love. It’s a win-win: the body of Christ working alongside others on a project that we all value (being good stewards of God’s creation) while giving us the opportunity to forge new relationships with others. Help us show our community that Calvary is a church that cares about others and about the world we live in – not just in word, but also in deed.

Individuals, small groups or families (5th grade and older) are invited to join us. We have space for just 400 people, so sign up outside the Café through September 8 (or until full). For details, contact the missions department at missions@calvarygr.org.

World Discipleship Class this Fall!

Can I be involved in missions if I’m not a missionary? God has commanded us to be actively involved in reaching our world for Christ, to live as “World Christians.” But God does not lead everyone to serve in cross-cultural missions. How can we live as World Christians right where God places us? This fall we will explore this question in a ten-week Sunday morning class, entitled World Christian Discipleship. We will look at how we can live life purposefully, intentionally participating in God’s kingdom work of building his church throughout the world.

Topics will include: Practices of the World Christian Journey, Essential Disciplines of a World Christian, Maximizing Short-term Missions, and The World at Your Door. Along the way we will learn that key roles in missions – in addition to going – include sending, welcoming, praying, and mobilizing. Plan to join us for ten challenging and encouraging weeks as we reflect on God’s heart for the nations!

Short-Term Missions Night

Save the Date – October 27 Join us during the 6:00pm service on October 27 to hear testimonies of how God has used short-term missions to change lives for His glory. People of all ages – young children through adults – have had the opportunity to serve Him internationally, nationally and locally this year, and had lifechanging experiences that they would love to share with you. Come to Fellowship Hall after the service to hear more about how God can use you – whether going or sending, and to get information about trips planned for 2014.

Monday Night Bible Study Begins Sept. 9 | 7:00-8:35pm Chapel | $8 | No childcare available.

Monday Night Bible Study is a place where men and women come together for fellowship, prayer and studying God’s Word. Our study for the fall (September-November) is “Moses, The Man & His Mission,” written by Cathie Brasser and taught by Ed Kaleefey. Moses was chosen by God to lead the Israelite people out of Egypt to the Promised Land...not an easy task! The people were difficult to lead. Moses again and again turned to God and God showed Himself to be compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. This study is full of lessons for us today. We would be delighted if

DC4K provides a safe, neutral, fun place where children: learn to understand their feelings, express their emotions appropriately, improve their self esteem, develop coping skills and are introduced to biblical concepts that bring comfort. DC4K sessions are filled with engaging activities centered on a weekly theme. A typical evening is filled with activities, discussions, journaling, music, a story, and video dramas. Please note that DC4K is designed to run alongside of DivorceCare for adults and the topics correlate. Childcare will be provided for children birth through preschool. To register or ask questions, contact Lou (ldegraaf@calvarygr.org) at ext. 3618.

Because of the divorce or separation of their parents, teens find themselves in a hopeless situation they did not choose. This 12week session equips teens with the God given tools to live a life of hope and the promise of a changed tomorrow. To register or ask questions, contact Lou (ldegraaf@calvarygr.org) at ext. 3618.

Many women hide the painful secret of abortion deep in their hearts, and carry a great burden of shame and failure. If you are struggling in silent pain, God loves you and desires to touch you with forgiveness. Groups start throughout the year. On The Bookshelf

recommended reading for september found in the calvary library Words is a compelling story written by Ginny Yttrup that deals with a heart-wrenching topic. Ten year old Kaylee Wren doesn’t speak. Not since her mother walked away, leaving her in a remote cabin nestled in the towering redwoods - in the care of a man who is as dangerous as he is evil. With silence her only refuge, Kaylee collects words she might never speak from the only memento her mother left behind: a dictionary. Sierra Dawn has allowed the shame of her past to silence her present hopes and chooses to bury her pain by trying to control her circumstances. But on the twelfth anniversary of her daughter’s death, Sierra’s control begins to crumble as the God of her childhood woos her back to Himself. Brought together by divine design, Kaylee and Sierra will both discover the healing mercy of the Word – Jesus Christ. In Home Run, baseball star Cory Brand knows how to win. But off the field, he’s spiraling out of control. One mistake changes everything. To save his career, Cory must go back to the town where it all began. His plan is simple: coach the local Little League team, complete a recovery program, and get out as fast as possible. Instead, he runs headfirst into memories he can’t escape and the love he left behind. Faced with a second chance he never expected, Cory embarks on a journey of faith and discovers that no one is beyond the healing of God. Home Run is also available in DVD and Audio CD. Her Restless Heart, the second study in the Faith and Fiction series, offers a refreshing new approach to Bible study. Much in the way that Jesus used parables to teach important truths, this study uses the story of a young Amish woman caught between two worlds as a vehicle for studying the Bible’s answer to the universal longing of every woman’s heart: to be unconditionally loved and accepted. This sixweek study using Barbara Cameron’s novel (included in the study guide) and video interviews with the author to invite you to allow God to satisfy your restlessness.

If you are looking for a Bible study to work through in your home, the library has many to choose from, including several by Beth Moore.

The Library is located across from Fellowship Hall on the lower level. Our summer hours are Sunday, 8:45 – 10:45am. Beginning September 8, our hours are Sunday, 9:15 - 11:15 am and Wednesday, 6:00 - 7:30 pm. 26 | September 2013 | calvarygr.org

We are so glad you have joined us today. We know there are many churches you could have chosen to attend and we are glad you chose to be here. Perhaps this week you have experienced what a stormy place this world can be. At times our lives feel unpredictable and out of control. The Apostle Peter knew all about that. He knew what it was like to fail and to feel defeat and he knew what it was like to suffer. But he also knew what it was like to walk on water. This year at Calvary Church, we are studying Peter’s letters to the church. In them we see that Peter is telling us that hard times come and that life isn’t always easy, but that God is a refuge for each one of us. While you are here we hope you will experience the grace and peace that can come from Jesus Christ — the same Jesus who helped Peter defy nature on the Sea of Galilee. Jim Samra Senior Pastor

LIFE {TOGETHER} Community is a place where you belong; a place where you develop relationships with other Christians and do life together. When you experience true community, you have close friends who meet together, pray together, grow together in God’s Word, and care for one another. In community you will be loved; you will be valued; you will be transformed more into Christ’s image. If you realize it is time to engage with people in a new way and want to be a part of a community group, visit the Connection Point on Sunday mornings or contact Brenda Neher (community@ calvarygr.org).
