Farewell to Year 12 Students Our Year 12 students completed their formal classroom lessons this week and now have study leave to prepare for their final examinations. We farewelled the class at School on Wednesday, with a breakfast in the cafeteria, followed by formal House farewells, cuff-link presentations by fathers of Year 12 students who were also Old Boys, the Grammarians Association, followed by brunch. The day finished with a Leavers’ Service at St Mark’s Church, and a Valedictory Dinner at the MCG with parents and teachers. The day was mixed with emotion, excitement and memories for these students, who have been part of our lives for so long. It was wonderful to celebrate their years of schooling at CGS with them. We now wish these students all the very best as they prepare for their examinations, which begin for most students next Wednesday 31 October, with English. I take this opportunity to thank our Year 12 students for all that they have contributed to our school community in the time they have been with us. I remind them that we are all here and ready to help during their study leave, and I wish them all the very best for their examinations. Our Year 11 students now take on the mantle of leaders of the school, and I look forward to the contribution that they will make over the next twelve months.

Marriage Course St Mark’s Anglican Church is running a seven week Marriage Course in Term 1, 2019 and is inviting parents from Camberwell Grammar School to join them. The courses are designed to strengthen families and strengthen marriages, and also help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage. Further information about the course is available on the attached flyer, or by contacting Vicar Greg Allinson at St Mark’s Anglican Church Camberwell on 9882 3776 or grega@stmarkscamberwell.org.au.

Middle School Year 8 Social It has been a big week for our Year 8 boys as they prepared for tonight’s Social, where we look forward to welcoming Camberwell Girls’ Grammar, Fintona and PLC. I was most impressed with the dance practice sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, which were ably led by Ms Victoria Papaioannou, Ms Miranda McDonald, Ms Katrina Massey and Mr Ken Schwab. YMCA was a clear standout!

Run/Walk for Koala Kids The Run/Walk for Koala Kids takes place next Wednesday, between 11:30am and 12:30pm. The boys are encouraged to gather as many sponsors as possible for the event. A sausage sizzle under the Atrium will conclude what should be a great occasion. The boys are permitted to wear their sports uniform to and from school next Wednesday. A reminder that we would love to hear from any parents who can help us to cook sausages from 11am next Wednesday.

Sun Safety Given the warmer weather, it is timely to remind our community to be ‘sun smart’. Boys are encouraged to apply sunscreen every day and wear a school cap when they are outside. Bubblers are available around the school to ensure that boys can remain hydrated. Sun safety is an important responsibility for individuals to remain vigilant about.

Year 8 Elephant Ed Parent Seminar At this stage we have over 60 Year 8 parents registered for the seminar on “Managing Adolescent Internet Use”. This will be held in the Camberwell Room next Wednesday 31 October, at 7:30pm. RSVP at Trybooking

Sports Update Congratulations to all boys who competed for CGS last weekend. In last week’s Bulletin, we celebrated the Middle School boys selected in First Teams. I am pleased to announce that Gregory Kerdemelidis and Ming Han Low (both in Year 8) have been selected in the First Volleyball Team for their first round of the AGSV competition. Furthermore, Seneth Kariyawasam has been called up from the 9A’s to play in the First XI cricket team, for Round 2 of their competition. We wish all boys well in their sporting endeavours.
