All Year 3 students will be spending the first part of next week at the Gundawindi Camp. The boys are very excited about attending the camp and the program will provide them with the opportunity of many outdoor activities, which will challenge them in ways they do not often experience in the classroom. I am looking forward to hearing some of their adventures upon their return on Wednesday. I am grateful to the teachers who have given up time with their families to be with the students.

A Friendly Note From Our Friends at Assumption College

Music Careers Calendar Support Groups

Assumption College Kilmore warmly welcomes any parents, carers and family-friends who may wish to come along and watch Saturday sport. We appreciate that many use the opportunity of a game at Kilmore for some quality family time and a nice drive to the country! We respectfully request however, that you leave your four-legged family members at home. We have a working farm on site at the College and frequently have our large livestock in paddocks in quite close proximity to our public areas and playing fields. Assumption College is therefore a ‘No Dogs Site’ and as private property, we reserve the right to ask those with dogs to leave the College grounds.

Sports Report In Round 3, the First VIII Tennis team looked to keep their undefeated season alive by taking on last years premiers in PEGS. After a close contest in the doubles rubbers, Camberwell turned into the singles trailing 3 sets to 5. The future of Camberwell Grammar tennis was on display with Middle School players Lachlan Wei (Year 8), Ashwin Prabaharan (Year 8) and Matthieu Gibert (Year 7) all remaining undefeated in the singles for the season. Unfortunately PEGS eventually won the day 10 sets to 6. For the 8A tennis team, the result came down to the final game in which Daniel Stephen (Year 7) secured the victory and extended the team’s winning streak to 7 matches in a row. The First XI Cricket had a difficult day at PEGS after showing positive signs in the opening rounds. The 8A team however continued their dominance with a comfortable win over PEGS. Will Stamper (Year 7) continues to impress with back to back 50s whilst Thomas Wong’s (Year 7) 3 wicket over set the team up for victory early. The team managed to score 157 while only dropping 1 wicket for the day. The First VI Volleyball team took on Marcellin. Although Marcellin were competitive throughout the match, they couldn’t manage to break through and win a set with Daniel Shao (Year 11) and Ming Jin Low (Year 10) leading Camberwell to a straight sets victory. Christopher Kyriakos (Year 11) continued his consistent season with another impressive performance. Our First VIII Table Tennis team continued their undefeated season defeating PEGS 15 rubbers to 0. Nathan Shi (Year 10), who’s first singles rubber victory set the tone for the day, continued to dominate with the support of Bryden Tan (Year10) and Joshua Hui (Year 7) who also won their rubbers convincingly. The First V Basketball team, coming off a victory in Round 2, came up against a more challenging opponent in PEGS. Camberwell struggled to capitalise on their opportunities throughout the match which eventually resulted in a 23 point loss. The 9A Basketball team scored their first victory for the season with Sam Veitch (Year 8) and Sam Woods (Year 8) the stand out players in their 32 point win. The 8A team remained undefeated with a 30 point win with Harry Thomas (Year 7) being named in the best players for the third Page 4

Music Music Lessons For Younger Students The Music Department is very pleased to announce a new initiative to bring piano lessons to younger students at CGS! Commencing Term 1 2019, lessons will be offered after school in a small group format for boys in Pre-Prep to Year 2. Capping numbers at a maximum of 8 students per class, students will have the opportunity to learn in a motivating environment with their peers, developing a love of music that will last a lifetime. Strong musical foundations will be laid focusing on rhythmic, vocal and aural training which are enhanced through playing and singing with others. These skills are invaluable when moving into private tuition in later years. We would like to welcome Ms Rachael Martin to the teaching team. Rachael taught with the Yamaha Music Education Centre for 14 years, gaining much experience in working with younger students before opening her own private studio Musical Keys. She holds a Bachelor of Music and AMusA Diplomas in both the Piano and Electronic Organ, and has enjoyed playing the violin and flute in a variety of ensembles. Rachael is passionate about providing musical education for young children that develops a solid technical foundation in a fun and creative atmosphere. Limited places are available. To register your interest in booking a space, please email music@cgs.vic.edu.au with your child’s name and year level by Friday 30 November and a timetable will be sent to nominate your preferred class time for Pre-Prep/Prep or Year 1/2. Fees are $22 per 45-minute lesson with materials additional each semester (including books, backing tracks, and theory materials).
