They talked and talked. In fact, they talked so much, even in class, that their teacher often told them to be quiet. It makes a big mess. ‘Yes’, said Mohan. ‘It’s a clever dog and very sly.’ ‘Is that why they named it cheater?’ asked Velu. ‘Hahaha!’ cried Mohan. ‘It’s called CHEETAH, not CHEATER! My parents named it cheetah because cheetahs are fast. ‘Oh!’ said Velu. Soon they arrived at a tall fence. They heard voices shouting, ‘Thirteen! Thirteen! Thirteen!’ ‘Why are they shouting that number in particular? asked Mohan softly. ‘My brother told me that thirteen is an unlucky number’, whispered Velu. ‘Let’s investigate what it’s all about’, said Mohan. ‘Climb on my back and peek over the wall.’ Velu popped his head over the top. Sorry, Wrong Number Mr. Pramod was pleased. He had waited for a telephone connection for many months and now, at last, he had one. The engineers arrived in the morning to connect the telephone line. Mr. Pramod made the engineers cups of tea and helped them when he could. He could hardly wait for his wife and son to get home. When Mrs. Pramod and their son, Arun, came home, Mr. Pramod showed off the new telephone. The phone first rang when they were all sitting down to dinner. Mr. Pramod picked up the receiver. ‘This is Mrs. Singh’, said a shrill voice on the other end of the line. ‘Is that Fancy Goods Emporium?’ asked the woman. ‘Where are my clothes?’ ‘No, I think you have the wrong number, madam’, replied Mr. Pramod. The following morning the phone rang again. This time Mrs. Pramod got to it first. It was also a wrong number. A few minutes later the phone rang again. But this time, Arun got there first. From time to time he nodded his head from side to side. Arun put the phone down. ‘Some lady asking for Fancy Goods Emporium’, replied Arun. In the evening, the telephone rang again. It was also a wrong number. ‘I wish someone would call us and not a wrong number’, said Arun before he went to bed.
