2019 ANNUAL REPORT

CAMBRIDGE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES PROGRAM

Encouraging and promoting life-long wellness by providing a variety of high-quality recreational activities, learning opportunities, aquatics programs, and services to the broad Cambridge area community.

NOTE FROM OUR LEADERSHIP

LESLI RUMPF

Executive Director

I am proud and excited to reflect on all that has taken place in 2019. The CAP leadership team, employees and volunteers put in countless hours to provide you with the best programming possible. A special thank you goes out to the School District of Cambridge as they invested money to upgrade systems at the Cambridge pool. The transformation was fun to watch! In 2020, I invite you to explore all that Cambridge CAP has to offer. Check out a fitness class, relax at Ripley Park, or enjoy the Community Cafe surrounded by family and friends. Cambridge has something for everyone!

EDDIE PAHUSKI Board of Directors, Chairperson

Nearly 82,000 patrons participated in CAP events or activities in 2019. That is an incredible number of people of all ages who enriched their lives at one or more of the CAP programs and took advantage of CAP's many diverse offerings. Since becoming involved with CAP little league baseball over a decade ago, I have had the opportunity to become more involved with CAP staff and the hundreds of wonderful volunteers who make our programs and events possible. Through these interactions over the years, I have had the opportunity to see strategy, planning, execution and evaluation of all things CAP. Let me first report that our CAP programs are in great hands. Lesli, Amanda, Jordan, Nancy, Kathryn, Kristine and Adam are outstanding and caring CAP employees, and they bring both professionalism and exceptional service to all that they do. In addition, CAP is always evaluating existing programs and services, and willing to try new approaches to enriching the wellness of our Cambridge community. Two examples of this in the last year are a revamping of the CAP Fitness program, and working with the school district, initiating a pilot Social and Emotional Awareness Day event at the middle school. Two aspects of the CAP program that have always impressed me are the willingness to try new things, and the very strong shared value to listen to feedback. Thanks to each of you for your past and continued support of CAP and the CAP staff and volunteers. Let us know if you have an idea or feedback that will help us continue our mission.

WHAT OUR PATRONS & VOLUNTEERS ARE SAYING I volunteer with Cambridge CAP because it feels good to give back to the program that gives so much to the community. Jody Wilke Our entire family loves participating in the wide variety of CAP programs. There are so many opportunities to choose from and we are always welcomed by friendly and knowledgeable instructors and coaches who are passionate in what they do. We are extremely fortunate as a community to have such wonderful programs available. Thank you, CAP! Lindsay Long

CAP is the program in Cambridge that permeates the culture of the town and is some of the glue that helps hold the community together. Mark Ihlenfeldt I have always enjoyed being a volunteer. CAP gives me the opportunity to spend time with small children. Volunteering at the Food Pantry is another way to help those in the community! Sharon Jacobson I'm 84 years old and there are so many things I can do at that pool that I can't do other places. I used to come to the pool for fun but now it's more for therapy. I enjoy my time with the gals, it's like a support group! Mary Thompson
