I would like to thank all Camden residents for the tremendous sacrifices you have made to follow the rules. As a result of a powerful collective effort, Camden now has the lowest rates of COVID-19 since October. This has been a long, dark winter where we have all struggled with the restrictions and we can’t underestimate what it’s taken to get here. There is hope ahead but please do continue to follow the guidance because I know none of us want all of this pain and loss to be repeated. Cases are still too high and we need to keep working together to make sure that we don’t go backwards. I know many of us will have been shocked and saddened to hear that a resident was killed in Camden this week and our thoughts go out to everyone impacted by this violence. We are working closely with the police to make sure there is extra support in place for communities at this time. We know that many will be worried about reports across London of an increase in violence affecting young people, and the Council continues to be absolutely committed to youth safety. If you are a parent or a young person worried about safety then please get in touch either with the police or the Council using the details below. Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council
Over 65 or clinically extremely vulnerable? Book your COVID-19 vaccine now The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and gives the best protection against coronavirus. If you’re 65 or over, or clinically extremely vulnerable, and have not yet been contacted by the NHS, you can now book your own vaccine appointment. Visit nhs.uk/coronavirus-vaccination or call 119. You can choose to go to a larger vaccination centre in Camden or pharmacy in a nearby borough, or wait to be invited to go to a local GP surgery. Wherever you choose to go will be run in a COVIDsecure way, which means extra precautions are in place to keep you safe. If you’re not yet eligible to have the vaccine, please make sure you’re registered with a GP and that they have your most up-to-date contact details so they can contact you quickly when it’s your turn.
Camden’s youth helpline Camden’s youth helpline will re-launch tomorrow (Friday 19 February) aimed at Camden’s young people, parents and carers. The helpline will offer help and advice on staying safe, substance misuse, education and training, and local activities. If you need any help or are worried about someone else, call 020 7974 6200 to talk to someone. The helpline is available Monday to Friday 12 noon to 6pm and run by Camden’s Youth Support staff. If a young person is in immediate danger or a crime has been committed, call the police on 999.
