INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO

DESIGNER’S WELCOME
A portifolio is our way to express our best intentions when it comes to how we, interior designers, believe design can be done. But this time, I tried to express a bit more different. not only what I researched, programmed, sketch, spatial planned. I also brought what I experienced and learned during those moments in my career. I wanted to show that Design is about communication and how we connect with others. It’s about respect for our client’s idea while still bring our creativity. My philosophy is about understanding that our journey may be different, and we might differ in opinions or methodology, but together we can discover a new possibility. I believe that we always learn something new every day, and we have to be attentive to the details. I also think that we have to put our best in everything we do. Design is about making decisions and taking chances outside of our comfort zone. But more than ever, Design is about believing in yourself and that what we create matters.

Summer studio where we were allow to select whom to design for and bring a project for both a store and a office.
Stonehill Taylor During my internship at Stonehill Taylor, I was able to expand my 3D modeling on the software Revit, allowing me to not only work with more organic visualizations but also adding the appropriated lighting to a scene. I experience many critiques which allowed me to bring a better product to my supervisor. I was able to understand a bit more about commercial projects, work on large redline projects, and experience all of that while working remotely from Atlanta which allowed me to pursue my classes as well. Tracy Tesmer Working for this company was an opportunity to experience design throughout all the phase in a very small period of time. I was responsible to measure the site, talk with the client about their ideas, schedule meetings and bring design proposals. Once the clients made their decision on which project, it would go to pricing. If they agree to continue with it, I was also responsible with finishes and some construction fittings. One of the few projects I was able to see throughout completion was the Caldwell Kitchen presented in these pages.
The bay window located in the kitchen inlfuenced how the design of this kitchen was lacking storage as well as the framed cabinets.

Client’s Request Mrs. Caldewell wanted to update her kitchen so she can have a better lace to host her family and friends. She didn’t have a space for a microwave and wanted new double ovens. I was able to improve the ventilation for the gas stove new placement and add items such as a spice rack and a untensil rack on the side of the stovetop clearing up the countertops.

Concept The concept “camera, live, action” was inspired by the saying lights, camera, action, and became a bridge to involve the motion picture into the interior design. It is also about movement and recording. It is about connecting the “live” into everyday life. We are moving so fast and capturing these moments, making us more connected to social media and pictures.
Insta-Interiors This thesis focused on creating interior design solutions that connect the virtual with the built and transform the way we experience spaces in-person and on-line. It focuses on creating memories and allowing the user to experience a time that passed or is about to come. Good memories are about whom we live them with as well as how the experience is lived and registered.

The “Insta-pod” was a response for an early conception in schematic design to the instagrammable and experience part of the project.

Location The criteria for the site were driven by the aspects discovered through the data analysis. The ideal site needed to be in a family-friendly neighborhood in a city with a large millennial population, and close to main public transportation. The site selected is located at 302 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica, CA, located near the Santa Monica beach, and it has a variety of commercial buildings surrounding it, satisfying all the criteria. Programmatic Concept After the project goal was defined and the site and building were selected, the project programming was created using the collected precedent studies. The restaurants’ precedents assisted to include areas that are a requirement for the proper function. At the same time, the interactive spaces helped bring the layer of experience novelty into the design, starting from the programming. Bubble Diagram

PROJECT SNAPSHOT The bar is the center of the entertainment. The layout for this area was displayed in such a way that all the attention of the users would be focused on what is happening in the bar and consequently to the stage, the focal point of the room. The second point of the room is the cube lighting wall that works as a projection screen when necessary to the presentation or attraction occurring on the stage.

The first thought for the “Insta-Pods”was that it would be an area that would be transitional and flexible enough that every defined season by the owner of the project would have a theme. Later into the design development phase, the Insta-pod became not only that but also wayfinding to the spaces surrounding it.
PROJECT SNAPSHOT The fine-dining space was created to bring sophistication and to corroborate with the changing menu for each space. This area is also covered with full service. Besides the primary ordering through the app like the other spaces, when a user is seated at the fine dining, they receive a more sophisticated experience.

Lego Atlanta Office This project was a hypothesis for a new office for LEGO. Midtown Atlanta is a great area for a new office since there are only two Lego offices located in the US. There are also only two Lego store in Atlanta that are 20 miles away. The project will bring features of third place which attracts adults and will be convenient for gift shopping.
Concept The concept “build beyond dreams” is rooted in the aspect of real construction, where we see that we can add the elements of a dream into it. The concept for this project is to connect the builders of today and tomorrow. It is to inspire the employees to go back to old dreams allowing them to experience the freedom that they might had when younger. It is to merge the CMU with the LEGO bricks and to see new possibilities.
One of the goals was to bring characteristics from LEGO to the office space as well as a fun, creative experience that was accessible for children and their adults.

Programming This project had a few goals such as: being a multifunction and flexible space, where the employee can thrive and experience daylight and nature to help with their attention restoration. I also wanted to provide spaces to stop and change activities and an office where sigle parents could be their best while they take care of their kids.

PROJECT SNAPSHOT The First floor intent was to be a more flexible area where the design allow the employees to choose what type of working settings they prefered. I also want to portrait a more creative and fun area with the slides and the hang chairs that mimic a lego head character, with the goal of inspiring the employees to think like a kid playing with lego.

Concept The concept “colorful explosion” is the combination of Brazilian culture’s excitement and colorful events such as the Carnaval that happens during the year. I want to bring the joy of being proud of their origin. I brought some of the elements that are present in the Carnaval event such as the ribbons and confettis that flood the streets during the event. Mindmap of Concept
