Art History: Great Museums of the World - The Frick Collection Every Thursday in May Times: 10:00-11:30am Instructor: Elizabeth Iturbe According to legendary fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert, “Fashion; it’s history in fabric. It frames the time you live and the place you live, and the mood of people. It also can open the door to many narratives in visual art. For centuries, artists have often used fashion to inform their narratives. Allow us to weave these stories together, and explore their varied portrayals, that reflect society, culture and values throughout the ages.

The Frick Collection is a unique art museum in New York City that is internationally recognized as a Premier Museum and Art Research Centre. Its permanent collection features European fine and decorative arts and Old Master paintings. In this course you will have the opportunity to enjoy and learn about some highlights of this museum. May 6: Introduction to The Frick Collection. May 13: Spanish Painting Masterpieces: El Greco, Velazquez and Goya. May 20: Dutch Painting Masterpieces: Rembrandt and Vermeer.

Michelle from the Toronto Zoo’s Great Lakes Program will lead a presentation about some of the fascinating species at risk in the Great Lakes region and how we can protect them.

- THE VALUE OF ONE, THE POWER OF MANY-

Thinking about this year’s theme for National

Volunteer week, it is an opportunity to showcase the impact of volunteer service and highlight all of the awesome acts of kindness that individuals give……. in their time, in their expertise and in themselves. Our past year was full of challenges for NYSC where our programs and services pivoted, changed and new services emerged due to the pandemic. Even through these uncertain times, some of our volunteers have shone through, ready to assist, ready to help, ready to “be there” for the member/clients of the organization. We are so grateful for the flexibility of our Volunteers. National Volunteer Week provides us the opportunity to pause and take time to formally applaud our Volunteers….but please know, we appreciate you every day. You have tackled a year of the greatest challenges and supported each other through it with your outpouring of care and compassion. Volunteers are special people who make the community a better place. It is the power of many hands and hearts of our volunteers that combine to provide the foundation of the value of one organization, NYSC Thank You to all of the volunteers who dedicate their time! We miss you and we can’t wait to see everyone back with us soon! Take the best of care,

The Alzheimer Society will also be able to create culturally specific dementia tools so we can address the gaps in supports and services for diverse communities. There are two surveys: one for people living with dementia, and one for caregivers of people with dementia.
